Playful touching?

I'm not sure if you can take it that far, I mean you yourself have seen instances almost 100% of the time in BTCC where its absolutely fair to take someone out. We need to drop this FIA mentality when it comes to contact (deliberate or accidental) in motorsport that it apparently must be banished and we must not misbehave or we shall be Lewis-Hamilton'd to the naughty step (even if in Hamilton's case it's just him being an idiot rather than making contact).

Here is what many regard as the greatest race in touring cars, what made it spectacular was the amount of bumping and deliberate attempts to knock each other off the road, if this was to happen now there would just be a sea of finger-pointing, cheat-accusing and pointless penalising and nannying.

It was a fantastic race, it didn't even matter that it was raining given the level of entertainment on-track! I'll always remember that day 👍

Still, it was all fairly clean to my eyes, no real deliberate ramming or pushing going on, just a bit of playful touching ;)

I imagine the grinding, side swipes, pit maneuvers, and rear-end bumping will continue for awhile.

"Intercourse" of its life, GT5 goes through a lot of abuse!!!:dopey:

And no, I would kick someone after that. The gap is non existant.

Really? Muller simply closed the gap and Plato was caught unaware... unless you'd kick Plato specifically for generally being a 🤬 ;)

Well it was a half-hearted move, Plato simply stuck his nose along side, there was no way he was going to get past.

Wow, you are brave making a thread with such a title, lol. But seriously, I dont mind a little rubbin', just as long as your not trying to knock me into the wall or grass.

Check this out... Would you kick? Or was it an honest mistake? Or was there actually no contact at all lol :dopey:

That's not "playful touching," that's "crucial touching". If you don't bump draft on a Superspeedway in NASCAR, it's game over for you.

No... that picture was a corner at Bristol Motor Speedway, unless I'm mistaken. Your assertion (Bold) is correct, though. I think the idea of 'playful touching' indicates incidental or slight retaliatory contact. As long it's all in fun, and not in a serious race. AND... no one has the potential to get hurt, like the above video.

Come to think of it, it does look very much like Bristol. Or even Martinsville. 👍

Word. 👍

If I'm not mistaken, no one got seriously hurt in this crash? Which is a good thing. 👍

It's totally a matter of sportsmanship. If you play fair and show respect to the other drivers, then some touching is perfectly fine.

If you show a bad attitude towards other drivers, then it's not okay.

Aren't a lot of those cars in GT2? The Mondeo, the Audi, the Nissan Primera? I miss them...

I agree. A bit of rubbing is fine, but only without intent. Any sort of malicious contact should not be tolerated. I do feel that a race entirely without accidental contact is not really a race.

Yeah, Most of them were. Peugeot 406 BTCC in Green and Gold was Awesome :sly:

Another spectacle for you guys, check out this amazing save from Jason Plato who was the victim of some vigorous playful touching by Jonathan Adam. Jason Plato seems to always be playfully touching people, or getting playfully touched.

Anyone else out there actually ENJOY a little friendly contact in their races? You know, jostling for position a little cramming in the corners, gentle body-checks on the straights? Sort of like how 90's touring car racing was just so intense. :dopey:

I personally enjoy races like that alot more than races with heavy damage and people who insist on super realism? :)

I know I'm going to get alot of hate for this post haha... :nervous:

With lag and some people liking to "bump" entirely to hard, I have to say in general it's for people that aren't serious about racing.

I do enjoy friendly bumps and shoves, with people I can trust, and I'm willing to give anyone their fair chance, but we all push way harder in games then IRL, so it's much harder to play side-by-side in video games, because we're already pushing past the limit by ourselves, let alone trying it side-by-side.
