Next week, my parents is arriving, I'll like to postpone the Balancing Challenge as I really want to take part in that, so I'm gonna be open for suggestions for the next set of events.

Post your ideas and I'll pick one from your suggestions!

Heres my idea for a side challenge that i've been thinking would be good fun for a while but not told anyone about it.

Initial D Recreation season

The Idea for this would be each player would register their name but have their car chosen at random. The cars used would be from the teams seen in Initial D anime.

There is 38 cars that could be used according to the Initial D wiki With some exceptions as certain model variations arn't available in the game, three I can think of now are:

Itsuki Takeuchi and his AE85 The AE86 Levin would have to used to replace this I guess
Atsuro Kawai and his Skyline GT-T 2.5 Turbo(ER34) The Skyline GTS25 Type S (R32) '91 could be used as a replacement or any rear wheel drive R32
Shinji Inui and his Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT-APEX Coupe The AE86 Trueno would have to be used

If you spot more please tell me so I can fix it.

On average there has been 39.5 unique players from all 4 core seasons, but not everyone who registers actualy joins to battle, but side seasons generaly have less players registering, if more people register than the number of cars available I guess they will have to use duplicates or we could have a cut off date for registrations once 38 players is reached.

The way each player is given their car is once they register they are asigned a random number between 1 and 38 using a random number generator like the one here.

Here is the list of cars with their asinged numbers, below each car in red will be the in game version you must use.

Hopefully I havn't missed out any cars from the wiki, if I have please tell me.

An example would be I register and the number I am randomly given by the generator is 23. I now have to use that car, I can't change cars once I have been given it, I'm stuck with it for the whole season.

I would expect people to try and colour match their car as close as possible to the anime counterpart. Wheels obviously wont be exactly the same. I would also expect people to tune their cars as close as possible to the anime counterpart, but as there is no way to check or enforce what parts people use there's nothing stoping you from putting a turbo on Takumi's AE86 for example as long as it comes under the max PP limit.

The usual LotS regulations would apply:
Sports Hard tyres only
95-100% power limiter use
5% of total car weight can be used as ballast
No Fully customizable transmission

The only thing different would be a max performance points of 480PP this is to try and allow cars like the cappuccino and other low power cars to have a better chance at competing. I havn't checked if all cars fall under 480pp at stock specs but I think they all do. All cars/drivers would be one class, no class A, B or C etc.

Let me know what you think of it, evan if you hate the idea still let me know. Some things might have to be changed to get it to work right as this is still just an idea, nothing as been tested to see if this would work as planed.

Sorry for the big post, and I don't mind if this isn't what you had in mind to replace the PP ballance testing, but I hope its something you may consider for a future side season.

This my friend sounds like a great idea. 👍👍👍👍

Only problem might be that the player which gets a random number picked will not have the car if its a used car.

But i think this should not be that big of an issue.

Great idea!!!!!!

Cool idea, Maccer, I would join it for sure.

But, change the car from
Takumi Fujiwara - Anime Stage 4 Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT-APEX (AE86) #2
to the SS version, because of the carbon hood.

Well you all know what car I'm using. I built it for S5, and it's my main touge car. 380ps, just like the anime, and the colors match too. As a NightKid, it is my responsibility to make Nakazato proud.

If the side season works out, I'll drive my S.S Ver AE86. Apparently S.S Ver AE86 is stripped according to JC and the description. That's why I'll be raising the weight a bit

Missing car:
Kai Kogashiwa - Toyota MR-S S-Edition (ZZW30) #37

Thanks glad you like it, yeah I understand not everone may have the car needed as its chose at random, but I'm sure most LotS players wouldn't mind gifting a car to whoever needs it if they happen to have it, i've got about 1000 cars so im sure I got some spares I could send to whoever needed one if this does happen.

Thanks, its listed that way as the car isnt called the S.S version in the anime, but ill add a "AKA the S.S version in game" to the end.

Awesome, glad you decided to use my idea. I'll try and check as many of the higher PP cars tomorrow to make sure the come under 480PP in stock form. The only ones i'm worried might be above that is the RX-7 FD3S's and the GT-R R32/4's but im pretty sure they're all about 460-470pp.

I'm not sure if there is a way to set it up so when a player registers they get their number assigned automatically without it giving out the same number twice, or if it will have to be done one by one as each player registers to make sure that doesn't happen. I've never made one of them google docs form you use for the normal registraition. If you want or need any help timber PM me and i'll try my best.

Oh and if you feel anything needs to be changed or added in order to make this work feel free to do so, and tomorrow I will edit my list to include the year and colour for each car to save time so people don't have to check the Initial D wiki once they register to find the exact car/colour combo they will need to use.

I think this site is a very good refference when it comes to the cars and colors used in the anime.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Initial_D_characters_and_teams

It has the exact description of the car, year and color. In most cases as well parts that where installed in the car.

Edit: Lol sorry now i see you mentioned the Intial D Wiki in your post. Eheh - its early in the morning so excuse this usless post.

Great idea Maccer. I have a few Initial D cars in my garage, if anyone needs any, feel free to ask me, I will be happy to send it for you, guys!! :)

I'm buying up as many Initial D spec car models I know I can find to increase my chances of landing a good one when the draw is made. I'll ask for assistance if I have trouble finding specific models

Edited the list to include the in game version of each car and its colour you will need to paint it, or the closest possible model variation available. If you see one you dissagree with point it out and we can discuss if it needs to be changed. But please remember certain year models of the cars used in Initial D arn't in the game so I used the next closest year model availaible.

Maccer, can I help too? I'm a good Initial D Guru :)

idk if i'll be able to partake in the initial D challenge, I'm sincerely not all that interested and school's taking up plenty of time.. though i'll still be hanging around the lobbies and tuning cars 👍

Which of you LotS regulars use wheel controllers? I'll be buying a wheel in late March or mid-April. I'll have around $800USD to spend on a wheel and either a rig or stand for the wheel. I'm definitely going with a fanatec wheel. Either CSR or GT3RS, do any of y'all know if the performance gap is large enough to warrant buying the CSR? Also, though the US site doesn't have the Clubsport Pedals available I'll have to settle for the CSR Elite pedals.

Also... what is an affordable rig to mount that i can buy and wont cost me an arm and a leg? The VisionRacer is ridiculously sexy but the rig alone nearly exceeds my budget. I hear the RSeat and Playseat options are more affordable but I'm not too adamant about playseats because of that awkward bar that stands between my legs, seems like it would be cumbersome for badass shifting techniques.

any thoughts? i'm the type of person that does ridiculous amount of research before many ANY purchase in order to make an educated and informed decision. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated :)

Also... Thrustmaster T500RS... is it really all it's hyped up to be?
