8:38 on my first attempt. I'm no expert when it comes to the ring but I feel I can shave some time off with more laps. Not sure I'll ever get the gold on this one.

Just my 2 cents:

I think any race on the ring benefits from having completed the Mercedes Special Event to gold in all levels. You really learn how to max the individual parts of the track and then you put it all together for the final challenge.
The stuff I learned there, back in the day, has really helped in many a challenging situation. Doing the endurance after completing the Mercedes Special Event was also a good thing. Kind of cemented the lessons ;-)

I did 7:49 in my first lap, but with mistake and then didn't even come close.

I think this kind of seasonals shouldn't be restricted to christmas only, it's really good.👍

I've managed some golds, but with most of those AMG Academy tests, i've only managed silver. :(

I class myself as a pretty decent driver ( gold in 60% of license tests, everything else silver) , and yet was able to manage only silvers except for a single leg of the beginner section of the Special AMG tests.

When doing this TT, the best I've got so far was a 8:03 (red run, just slipped off track a touch) and a legit run of 8:05. Just for the hell of it, I tried it with external view (sitting back from and over the car, 3rd person) and within three laps had cut to a 7:57 red lap (again, a slight run off track).

I normally drive first person, clean screen, no bonnet. The difference I found was that I was able to see the car stepping out and correct quicker, as well as a better overall view of what is coming up, even though I know the track quite well. It did make a significant difference and gives me hope that I'll get this. I may even go back and try the differing view in the AMG Special Events tests.

Had some great racing with PR1VATEJ0KER and style89ch.
Needless to say, victories were abundant (for me, that is)...

...Just kidding, great racing with quick peeps, had me on the edge of my seat, pretty pleased that I got some pace here on this combo, not having done this combo before, so I'll be giving this TT a few goes in the following days. :)

Whats your PSN?

What are your splits? If you are searching for time, try driving casual (early breaking, smooth Throttle) and get a "control run" then drive progressively more agressive until you start using the whole road. I think you'll see gains much quicker then driving like a bat out of hell every go. You have to learn the car and no better way then to gradually work into (pretend like you're driving in real life, you want to get used to the characteristics). I only drove the c7 1 time prior to this challenge, and still golded first try using my technique. Hope it helps.

I don't know my splits, i'll give this a try, i know some or most parts of the track but not very well. I can't link all the corners in one go. The car feels ok, my problem is i don't know the track 100% to go all out and get the maximum out of it.

TC needs to be 0 or 1 at most... any higher loses a lot of time, I found.

It's at 5 along with all the other aids. I'm going to give 1 a go.

First message here and already telling people what to do :) My advice is to brake and turn in early so that u cut almost all corners and straigth up the wheels quickly when exiting. Long gears mean that u need to focus also on corner exit speed. 7:42 is my clean run so far, but i've done few red 7:36's. I can shave atleast 5 sec by training the section between carusels where i'm too passive and losing the most time when comparing replays.

I think thats another of my programs, i dont straighten the wheels, they are always screeching. If i turn in early i find i go off the track because im unsure what corners coming up next.

Completely agree with this. I never owned GT4 so these really helped me learn the layout of the last section.

i've watched this video on wge's youtube channel. it's helped me a bit linking the corners and how hard to push.

I did 7:49.695 on my fourth lap because this car is easy to mess up

I feel like some of these driving aids are slowing me down too. Traction Control is (5) (setting it to (1) now)

Active Steering is on (Strong).

ASM is (ON)

ABS is on (1)

I tried turning off ASM but I spin out easy, what's the best way in trying to re-learn how to drive with all of these off?

Haha! Awesome Racing m8, a little messy but very close at times.
We should do a few more before Holidays are over.
I'll be going ballz to the wall studying in the new year.

Ti-Tech goes P2 with 7:18.045, no ABS
 sick man

I guess if he doesnt take P1 without ABS he'll just turn ABS on and pull out a 7:16 or maybe even 15 since Dan made a few mistakes (just like in TT 34 where he went 5:59.0xx in a 2J without active steering  a whole second faster than Amo in P2).

FINALLY DID A CLEAN LAP!!
Drifted out the whole chikane but I don't care, at least I got a lap down.
First lap - 26, with many mistakes, too much near losses etc... I guess sub 20 or at least low 20ies are possible for me, yaay.

Good luck nailing that lap dude!
I'll be hoping for a 1:21 by the end :dopey:

There's plenty of time, and I've finally started to get a feel for the car.
I must say that once you get the grips with it - it's actually fun to drive.

Had a bit of bad luck yesterday afternoon which I thought might have seriously affected my times here, permanently.

I have a new adult Blue Cattle dog which was trying to get his leg over one of my Blue bitches which is coming on heat, but not yet ready to accept a dog. Anyway he was annoying the hell out of her at feeding time so I grabbed him by the collar to pull him away, and to put him back on his chain for the night.

Anyway, he took exception to me doing that and attacked me, biting my hand a number of times and leaving me with a bunch of puncture wounds.

So after I sorted him out I cleaned my hand up and soaked it in Dettol solution for quite a while, hoping no real damage had been done. Very painful last night but much better today as long as I don't bump it or do anything silly.

And of course I had to try GT5 today to see if I could manage it as I use the buttons.

To my very great relief I can, in fact just did my best lap, 7:44.735, took off over a sec.

So my friends, obviously, if you want to better your time here, first go and find a bitch coming on heat then....................

Let us know how you go with that.

Gave up on no ABS for C7 without being able to adjust brake bias.
(Ti-tech85 cannot be human!)

Anyway decided to try it with ABS 1, All aids off, and manual clutch using my TH8RS w-short shift plate and SFA1 connected to my Fanatec wheel.

Still have a ways to go but I managed to trim it down to 8:02:950 tonight after a few runs.
The C7 seems easier to drive with the H-shifter & clutch for me.

The weird thing is the GT5 TT LB only shows 900 degree gated gear box racing wheel, no clutch for my time.

Do I have to do something like dab the clutch once or twice before I use the clutch to shift for the first time for the clutch to register on the LB?

Did it in 7.48, took me 10 laps.

Made the most mistakes at the end off the laps, looking at the
time, will i make it...

The Corvette takes time to get used to, but its a nice handling car
that gets you into a flow around corners.

Only abs-1

How do you go with the Seasonal Time Trials Frenzel? They are the bench mark I believe which show one where they stand in the scheme of things. I am usually about 3 or 4 sec's off the lead, often well under the 1,000 mark and have managed a 7:44 here.

And I agree the AMG Special Events offer a great learning experience for the 'Ring.

I've usually found getting golds in these fairly easy with good tunes as sourced through the site. Depending on criteria for the TT's, my finishes have ranged from top 2,500, to usually within top 10,000 if I have a real go at it. My best finshes have been in events where there are tighter criteria.

Interestingly with the Licenses, I had no trouble golding all the S License tests once I got used to the different vehicles.

I still use a DS3, after trying a wheel a few years ago after a work accident.

ASM kills your times a lot! And you don't need Active Steering AND ASM on at the same time. Try switching one of them off (your choice which one, swap between them to see which you prefer)

If you find you spin too easy with no ASM, try to only accelerate in a straight line. If you are DS3 user (joypad), then use R2+L2 for gas/brake, as they are not on/off switches... you can feed the throttle in much smoother.

Apart from that, I cannot offer much more help, since my own time is only just gold.

Wow! 1:21!? Are you an alien? (I know you meant 7:21 and that's still good too :))

I meant 1:21

wut..

I'm actually able to do laps of Nordschleife without crashing now,
Learning 22km of track is slow. :tears:

You didn't know it and yet your still putting in those laptimes?

Well, I knew the layout of the track. (which turn is coming next)

By learning, I meant knowing the fastest way through each turn.
(I'll probably never fully get there)

Ah I see, I'm somewhere between those two, stringing laps together but not sections, just corners.

I hasn't tried last week because racecar work :scared: but has spended an hour to try this event.
It's awesome, this car in SH need really concentration. My best lap (of at least 10 attempts) was 7:59 👎 but I will be back to try harder next weekend :dopey:

Shaved a few off my previous time. Now running 7'27'1xx using DS3. I can see the 26 but i just kept whacking it off in sector 3. Hope to be on the 26 barrier in the days to come. :)
