I know. It's all good. The faster the drivers in each group, the smaller margin for error. Lap times are closer.

I have spun out in some races, fallen behind the lead group by ten seconds and still managed to set some fast laps and catch the group and finish on the podium. That is very unlikely to happen in D1.

As the theoretical fastest times are approached, the margins become smaller and smaller. To the point where perfection is required to win sometimes. Which makes it impossible to catch perfection if you make the tiniest mistake.

Sorry I wasn't able to join in on the fun Sunday night but work and family have been keeping me busy.

The fgt and zonda have been 2 of the best combos in weeks . Maybe not the best for close racing but probably the best for fun and developing skill. If it's too difficult for you its all the reason to keep running it. I never voted off the most difficult combo because obviously it still has something to teach me.

I think I'm at a point where I should officially request to be put on the part time Snail list. Not sure how often I can run Sunday nights or any night of the week. Not fair to the others to hold spot for me.

Man ik how you feel, these combos were definitely a love-hate relationship type of combo, I loved the speed and the fact that your on the edge the whole time, and then I hate the fact that if you go slightly over the edge your screwed. A bit like the end of the first race at Suzuka, I had a two second lead going into the final chicane, I just needed to make it through the chicane and I would've won, but nope I put one tyre on the sand and that's it race over... Still finished in second but that one I literally had in my grasp...

I voted against the Zonda before I bailed during the last race but was hoping the Zonda and the FGT would get the boot and one of the two tracks would survive. I am not sure if my vote was registered or not since you were all racing when I texted it in the lobby. If not, you can add a another 2 to the vote list from D2. If round 2 already got enough votes, you can switch my vote to round 3.:sly:

I agree with bowler that the Clio/gvs is tired but it keeps surviving because there is always another combo that is less popular. This week is no exception. Perhaps bowler shouldn't have selected the Zonda if he wanted to ax the Clio? We shall see. The two new combos were <fun. I can see that I am in the majority with that opinion.

All I know is that I won't be running the FGT or the Zonda again w/o full tuning enabled, regardless of whether they survive another week or not. I am pretty confident one of the two is out this week and probably both but if one of the two survives, you can put me down as a vote against it, if you allow early voting?

Also, if the Zonda or FGT survive another week, could you set it to be the last event for the night? That way I can bail after round 2 and get extra sleep. Nothing worse that being tired on Monday with no fond memories of why.

The combos have always been run from lowest pp to highest, not likely to change.

My point in saying slow down and race within yourself is based on my understanding that I'm not going to win every race I'm in. I realize that 1:30, 1:30, 1:30, 1:30 is faster than 1:27, 1:27, 1:40, 1:27. I would rather run a comfortable pace and get the best finish I can get than run over my head and make a mistake that would cost me that good finish. The more I am able to practice with something that is over my current ability level, the more comfortable I get and the harder I can push. If anyone expects to be able to jump into a car like the Zonda and drive it on the edge from the get go, they are lying to themselves. It's just not going to happen.

You don't have to be the fastest guy every lap to win a race. You just have to run the fastest race.

backing off 3 seconds a lap? that doesn't sound like pushing it or racing. racing is pushing the limit every lap. sounds more like the "parade" you spoke of with the clio.

Welcome back! Probably best to have you run the time trial so we can get you in the correct division 👍

All the instructions you need should be here. There is also a lot of information in the first post of this thread. Here's what you need to know and do in order to re-join:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the S.N.A.I.L. OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide.
Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You run the Time Trial. (NOTE: The tires selected for this have more grip than our current tire regulations allow, but please follow the directions exactly anyways).
2. You PM kcheeb with your time from the time trial (no Sunday racing until this is completed).
3. We assign you to the division that we feel will give you the closest competition.
4. We send you a you a PSN friend request from the corresponding SNAIL_Division1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 account. That PSN account's lounge is where you will race on Sunday night.
6. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

The original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread.

Please note that we often race DLC from three add-on packs:

Racing Car Pack
Course Pack
Twin Ring Motegi Pack

If you don't have these add-on packs, you will need to sit out the races in which they are used.

If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, post your choices in this thread.
To avoid duplication, the currently claimed combinations can be found here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.

If anyone wants me to take pics, all you have to do is export the video to XMB and put it on a USB disk then upload it to here in a ZIP folder. I can be the resident GT5 photographer, my works are in my flickr in my sig. It's the least I can do when I can;t reace often because of time constraints.

Sorry, I'm about to start working on the results post right now. I just had to endure a half-hour bitch session from my wife about drama at work. The more I tried to hit the eject button, the more detailed her story got.. :ouch:

The round that received the most elimination votes was:
ROUND 1 - Renaultsport Clio V6 24V '00 @Grand Valley East
Therefore the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since the2armedmen wins Prize A, he gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.

The round that received the second most votes was:
ROUND 2 - Pagani Zonda R '09 @Suzuka Circuit - Daytona
This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since GranStand_Bill gets Prize B, he gets to decide which part of the combo is replaced and what replaces it.

Price C goes to GTP_Worst_Driver so he gets any gift car ticket listed here.

Wow! The FGT stays over the Zonda (as for the car aspect). I was under the impression the FGT was hated. :confused:
