Goodwood Hill Climb confirmed to feature in Gran Turismo 6! + Videos

Now that I think about it, this does give people an uphill map, which can be changed to a downhill once turned around. Although, I'm sure they would like it to be steeper (I'm not an exception) it'll still be good for uphill/downhill matches

We seem to always find things to complain about. What! pre-rendered video, how dare them! What! they dubbed the engine sounds!

If this is the case, i'm not going to get this game! NOT!

PD is catering to a critical audience within this forum.

It's amazing how you guys truly know this things. :dunce:

Publishing a clearly pre-rendered video (it definitely is, no way the ps3 is able to produce such a result) pretending it's actual gameplay footage is called "misleading advertising". And no, I don't care if others do it as well: it's a really questionable behaviour and I just felt I had to point it out.
That being said:
Am I happy about goodwood being in the game? Of course.
Will I buy the game anyway? Sure will.

Dude, they're dubbed. 100%. I know you like to defend the game but sometimes you just have to accept reality. As mentioned they're not even the same car used throughout.

Sorry I tend to focus on the positives instead of the negatives unlike some of you.If you consider that comment "defending the game" I dont know what to tell you, because its not.Its coming to a possible conclusion instead of moaning about something, accomplishing absolutely nothing.Reality isnt only negatives my friend.

The sounds are obviously dubbed because the exhaust notes come from 4 different kinds of engines.

I dont think either of you completely understood what I said.Let me further explain. The sounds from e3 trailers are dubbed no doubting that. The sound effects in the e3 trailer are pretty much spot on in relation to the car position, which means they have good audio guys in that sound department. If the same guys dubbed sounds for this video, you would think they would get the sounds to sound more legit in relation to the car and its positions right? This tells me either they didnt have enough time to get it to sound flawless, this is their first time dubbing sound for actual game play, or its an early build for the actual sound for the car.We dont know exactly how they create the sounds for the cars but like you said the notes are coming from about 4 different engines, it could be part of a new process they use to create the engine sounds now.

That is looking fantastic!

Now time to map the isle of man!
C'mon PD! :D
A lot of other people might feel differently, but I choose the Isle of Mann over Pikes Peak. The Isle of Mann is mostly leveled like a normal track so getting up to speed in a low-powered car won't be annoying like it would be at Pikes Peak. I would personally feel obliged to use something more powerful than I would usually go for.

Has there been any proof that this is pre-rendered and run on a PC - or is this an assumption based on past game reveal practises? I'd have thought devs would have been shy about doing that after the recent next-gen console reveals.

After 3 hours, I finished edit this video (preferably in 720p). Video showing a map and route in real time
on a "Forest Rally Stage" of the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Even so I strongly hope that rally track will be in the game ^___^

Nicely edited and thanks for doing that work with adding the stage map - it gives a far better impression of how technical it actually is.

I don't get it. Did poliphoy digital realized that the bmw z4 gt3 got a v8 in it? I heard these cars in real life and they sound so different. Only the sound of the Nissan gt3 is realistic.

I saw the demo today at the event, and it was great! the track is not very wide, @ Nissan stand it was controller only (Academy GTR) and at the Moving Motor Show it was sign ups first (Deltawing).

8 year old driving at the Moving Motor Show stand (wheel)

Thanks for the videos man.

I always wanted to be at the FOS ... all that amazing cars together. And this year with a GT6 demo should be just perfect.

Congrats for been there.

Pikes Peak is far too wide for my taste, plus its lost some of its allure when it became all asphalt.

Anyway, looking forward driving at goodwood. Hopefully, they include the rally track, too.

Thanks jpbonadio.

Its my 2nd time here, but this edition is better then last year, i was surprised when i saw the track at the Nissan stand, all the details etc.

Ofc its always fun to see the real stuff, many cool cars that are in Gran Turismo, but no Kazunori so far.

I'll add some pictures when i get back home, i dont have internet until then. Uploading was hard enough :) it was like 15 pound for a crappy connection.

Grts T.

Sorry to get back to you so late, I went to sleep.
Yes I'm talking point to point time trials. By the term lobby's set right I mean to give us more options in the lobby to set this up. Maybe a round robin tournament or whatever.

I'm not knocking drag racing but that bores me also I realise there's those that like it so more options the merrier.

Options in lobby could include fastest lap over a time period. Further options could include setting the grid via lobby points (like the other game does). Before you know it you have the means to have online quailifying.

I realise its a dull track lol.

Anyway got to go to work. Yawn.
That's alright and I guess it's actually a really decent idea to introduce TT in public lobbies. Just I personally don't like it, but maybe others do.

:)

Current sounds are placeholders. (according to Kaz)

GT6 getting better and better with each reveal. they've put in the GT3 cars, unique world circuits/tracks, changed the physics. I wont be disappointed with the return to driving fun!
I can see plenty of "official" touge runs when the game drops.

That 8 year old got some serious skills :embarrassed:

Yeah, I was really surprised... I expected him to go way too fast around the first corner and into the grass/wall but he didn't even go off the course at all there -- all while looking better than all the other drivers I've seen yet, at least until his first off. And while he did spin twice I think both times he was rather unfortunate on a track with not much margin for error -- regardless his actual driving was very impressive for an 8 year old...

He's a noob. Who spins out when they're on a little grass? :D

His overall driving was impressive period.

That was actually beautiful. Nice work

"I have always been a huge admirer of the Festival of Speed and what Lord March has achieved," explains Polyphony Digital President and legendary creator of Gran Turismo, Kazunori Yamauchi, who will don his own race suit and helmet to pilot a number of cars up the famous Hill at Goodwood. "I love the incredible range of cars on display – from the priceless, rare and exotic, to the latest family hatchback and full on racing cars – I love the challenge of the Hill Climb and the rally stage. Goodwood represents every type of motoring and motor sport which very much mirrors what we aim to achieve with Gran Turismo and so it is very special that we have forged this partnership. There will be no better feedback than that provided by the Goodwood fans to tell me if we are heading in the right direction with Gran Turismo 6!"
Heh?

The addition of the Hill Climb to the hugely popular Gran Turismo is an exciting prospect for Goodwood Festival of Speed founder The Earl of March: "I am very excited to welcome Polyphony Digital Inc. to Goodwood, and I feel proud and honoured that the Festival of Speed has been chosen to showcase Gran Turismo 6 globally, as I cannot think of a more fitting gaming partner for this celebration of motor sport and car culture, especially in this, our 20th anniversary year. I am particularly looking forward to driving the Hill Climb on Gran Turismo 6, although I suspect I may have to tear my children away from playing it for me to get a look in!"
I have a sense that the rally track will be in too. UGH, actually, I doubt it, but still...

Edit -

Willow Springs International Raceway
This famous circuit in California is now reaching its 60th anniversary, and is finally making an appearance in Gran Turismo. The Willow Springs International Raceway is a circuit that is located in a hilly region just outside of Los Angeles. Of its many layouts, the circuit we are introducing this time is the main course, the “Big Willow”. At 2.5 miles per lap, it is known for its high speed corners and undulating terrain.
The other "lesser" layouts were never confirmed or addressed, but why leave them out? Can't the same be applied to the FoS tracks? It's something to think about.

So I consider myself pretty good at GT and keeping a car on the track isn't all that hard in the past as long as I do plenty of laps on it prior. Now, after watching the Goodwood videos, it is going to take me some major practice to keep it on the track to get fast times lol. Is Goodwood really that narrow in sections? Wow, that is insane and it makes the adrenaline rush even that much more intense when going for a quick lap.

Can't freaking wait!:)👍

I hope they get the Rally track in as well, it is just as narrow.👍

That narrow track. GT6 could have GT4 graphics for all I care, these new tracks and the physics improvements are just gold.

I'm very excited for GT6, Silverstone and now Goodwood have made me very happy indeed (and I'm glad to see Willow Springs, even though I hated it in NFS Shift!)
I hope the rally stage and GP circuit are added as well. If real 50s GP cars aren't in GT6 it'll be fun to throw the Light Car Rockets around the GP track!
