*tires screeching*



"....that car is fast.........I can't keep up......."

I went home happy as I pulled off another win. So were my friends, they won't stop telling our classmates how "great" and "cool" I was. Why all of this?? Because at my age of 18, I am already a "street racer" to some, but since I race on mountain passes, I am called a "touge racer" by some people. But none of this matters to me. What "drives" me is my passion for cars. When I was younger, I got fascinated with cars so much as I watch them on our small TV and as that passion grew, I wanted to drive a car myself. Problem is, I don't have one. And my family isn't that rich to buy a new car. But my dad also has the same passion I have, so he worked hard to earn enough to buy one. So I thought, I would help raise the money too, by getting a part time job when I was old enough. Then one day, He came back home and outside, he shouted, "Tori!! Come out here now!! I got us a new car!!!" As soon as I heard the word 'car'. I immediately went out of the house. What i saw outside was.....



What I saw was not just a car. I fell for it. For me, it was the most beautiful thing in the world. A hatchback body, with a yellow paint job and a black hood. My dad recalled what the salesman in the dealer where he bought this car said: "I don't know why the original owner of this car sold it to me. I mean, this is a fine piece of machinery. As I started to sell it, no one would buy it. I guess this model's not so popular nowadays. But since you're very willing to buy it, I'll give it to you at any fair price you call. I figure you'll take care of 'her' as much as I did...." I inspected the car around, I saw a red "H" badge in the hood. I thought, "H", this must be a Honda. But I feel this ain't no ordinary Honda. 'Oyashi' (Dad) said:

"You must have already thought this is no ordinary Honda. You are right, this is a Civic Type R EK9 tuned by Spoon, Honda's tuning company. Well, since I used your money to buy this car, half of the car is yours."

I got in the car, "this....is.......cool!!" I said to myself overjoyed.

Then Mom stepped outside of the house to see what was all that fuss. Dad explained to her everything.....

*Present day*

I took the car out for a drive in the woods, just a drive, because now I feel that my day just won't be complete without getting in my beloved Spoon Civic, turning the key and hearing that exhaust sound.



It was getting late and dark, so I decided to head back home. While driving, I saw something on the road. It was blocking the driveway.....



I was forced to stop, because it blocked the road. Suddenly, a man got out of the car. I too, got out of my car. Then the man spoke,

"Finally, we meet...."

Wow... just truely... wow.

I can see some Initial D inspiration (the AE86 was half Takumi's and half Bunta's until Bunta got the Impreza), but most of it seems pretty original!

Darkening the pics adds some atmosphere to the story, I like it. I can see what that car is blocking the driveway. But I did look quite closely. I wont give it away though.

yeah, that was when the engine was replaced, they shared the car. This one though, the father & son shared the car because both their 'savings' were used in buying the car..,

Yeah, how the heck do you park a car that sideways in such a narrow gap?

Or could it be that theres more than 1 car in the pic?

I got out of my car, then suddenly the man spoke:

"Finally, we meet...."



-"Who are you??"
"I am Kairi Kagiyama. You must be.....Tori.....Tori Akawa, right??"
-"How do you know my name??"
"You're the fastest racer around here, as some people tell me. Your drive a Spoon EK9.., hmm, that's an interesting car..."
-"Are you looking for a race?? Sorry, it's getting very late, and I have to get home, help my mom with the shop and other things...."
"I'm not looking for a race. In fact, I want to invite you to my new racing team."
-"Racing team??"
"Yes, we will go to places all around the world and challenge other racers like you. Our team will only be composed of the best. So far, only a few 'candidates' are worthy enough to be in my team. You like racing so much, do you?? You'll make a fine racer and your skills will be honed as we go on..."
-"...Gee....I don't know.... you're right about that, I like cars and racing so much.... But I'm still young and we're poor. I have to help around the house & shop, I still have a part time job, and I don't know if my parents will allow me to go to places far away from home. Maybe next time..."
"If that is your choice....but, if your mind changes at all, feel free to approach me. You know how to..."


Then the man, or "Kairi" got in his car and left.

For a moment, I stood still in my place and thought deeply. "Hmm, a racing team..." Then I suddenly remembered I had to get back home. I hurriedly got on my car and drove away.


*at home*




"Tori, why are you late??"
-"Sorry Dad, I just got into a conversation with someone..."
"Someone?? Who is that 'someone'??"
-"I don't know...I'll tell you later after dinner. Where's Mom?? She said I should help her with the shop, but she's not around here."
"She's in the kitchen. We'll talk about this later, ok??"
-"Yes, Dad..."


*after dinner*


I was looking at my car, wondering what would I become now without it. Then Dad went out and saw me, he asked...

"Why are you still outside??"
-"Nothing, just looking at the car."
"You must like this car very much, do you??"
-"......Yeah......."
"About that 'someone' you said to me later, who was it??"
-"What?? Oh yeah, that 'someone'....hmmm, i think his name was Kairi Kagiyama, or something like that...."
"Kairi Kagiyama??!!"
-I was startled, "What?! What about him??"
"You don't know him??"
-"No, not that I can't remember.....why??"
"He's a very famous race car driver. He's a professional in the business. You know those car races you used to watch when you were still younger?? He competed there and became champion many times!"
-"WHAT??!! No way, really???"
"Yes!! You remember that yellow car that makes you jump for joy every time it crosses the finish line first?? He's the one driving that car!!
-"You gotta be kidding me! NO WAY!! I can't believe it!"
"It's true, believe it!! Maybe that's the reason why you like yellow cars that much, and also the reason why you like this Civic so much."
-"Hmm, what a coincidence... man, i was really surprised there..."
"Haha, you're lucky you met him in person..... so.....what about Kagiyama-san?? What did he tell you??"
-"Well, he wanted to invite me one his 'new racing team'..."
"Racing team??"
-"Yes, he said that his racing team would aim to be one of the best in the world. That would mean going to other countries. But I'm not sure--"
"You should go!! you've always wanted to go to & see other places, do you?? This is your chance--"
-"Whoa, wait a minute, don't make hasty decisions, Dad... we're only poor, we should be working hard..."
"Don't worry, Me and your mom can handle it. We'll take care of everything here. What I want is for you to be happy, even I wanted to give everything I could. But I could only give you this car..."

(silence, dead air)

"Are you sure about that, Dad??"
-"Yes, I'm sure....Me and your mom can take care of things around here. How about your friends??"
"Oh yeah, I still have to tell them about it..."
-"Well you'd better tell them as soon as possible.."
"I'll get to it... by the way, it's dark now, we should go to sleep..."
-"Right, We had quite a long talk, don't you say?? Haha... well, goodnight Tori.."
"Goodnight, Dad..."


*Next day*


I went to Kairi's place, or "Kagiyama-san's office building", as Dad told me to. "K's Racing School" was the name of the building. When I got there, I saw the security guard stare ay my direction, then realize he was staring at the car, a bit jaw-dropped. I approached him...

"Uh, excuse me sir... I want to see Kairi...errr...Kagiyama-san..."
-the guard, regaining his senses, "Uh....what?? uh....uhuurrm...uh..yes... Name please?"
"Akawa, Tori Akawa."
-"Ah, yes!! Mr. Akawa!! Kagiyama-san has been expecting you. Please go in and approach the lobby desk. They'll lead you to Kagiyama-san's office room."
"Uh, sure... Arigato...."
I went in the building and to the lobby desk. The lady there said to me, "Mr.Akawa! We're glad you came, Kagiyama-san has been expecting you. We will now escort you to his office."
A man led me to the elevator on the second floor. As we were walking, I saw a car, not far away.... it's that black car from before...



The escort then took me at the top floor, and when we were now at the door of the office, I saw this - 'Kairi Kagiyama - Chief Executive Officer'. "Woooooow...", I said to myself. "Mr. Akawa, please come in," the man who escorted me said as he opened the door.

As I went in the room, I saw again Kairi's face, that man whom I saw in the woods...

"Ah yes, Akawa-san. I have been expecting you....."

there's been a change of plans...

when I was making Chapter 3 a few hours ago, it was too long. so, i decided to cut Chapter 3 into two parts, the latter part I'm extending and then turning it into Chapter 4, i just need some pics from the replays i saved. sorry for the delay, the action will have to wait in Chapter 4. but for the meantime, here's Chapter 3..,

Chapter 3 : Team MUGEN​

I saw again Kairi's face, that man whom I saw in the woods...

"Ah yes, Akawa-san. I have been expecting you... please, sit down."

I sat down, then he took a piece of paper, probably a document, from his desk and asked me, "So, what's your decision? Are you going to join our racing team??"
"Yes, I have decided. I will join your team."
-"Very well, we're glad to have you join. We need drivers who are highly-skilled in our team."
"Highly-skilled?? You haven't even watched me race yet.."
-"I haven't, but my employees have."
"What??"
-"You don't know, but some of my employees are in the crowds whenever you race. They are scattered throughout the course, then I tell them to record your time from start to finish. Turns out, you're even better than we thought."
"How'd you know I'm better??"
-"I asked my racing school's ace driver to drive in your home course, and he always gets a time '5 seconds slower' than yours."
"What?? 5 seconds??"
-"Yes, he admits he can't beat your time, "I must meet this guy," he said that to me after he tried many times to beat your record."
"Whoa..."
-"Surprised?? We were too. Well, since we now have your approval of joining the team, let me introduce you to our ace driver. But first, we must go to the temple. He visits that temple every day. I bet he's there at this very moment..."

So me and Kairi left the building. He told me that I should ride in his car. "What about my car??" "Don't worry, the guards will take good care of your car. I entrusted them to watch over it." Then we left. When I hopped in Kairi's car, I just realized then his car is a Mazda RX-7 FD. I remember Dad telling me he used to like Mazda's very much. Then I had some thoughts, it's vacation now, perfect time to go to other countries. No worries, no school...wonder what my friends' reaction will be when I tell them about 'this' matter....

We finally got at the temple. It was just a short drive, no less than 15 minutes. When we got there, I saw something in front of the temple. It was another black car...



We got out of the car and walked towards the temple. I begin to recognize the black car as we go nearer. Then, I noticed a man behind the car, he faced us then said....



"Ohayo gozaimasu, Kagiyama-san."
-"Ohayo, Kyosuke. I thought you'd be here."
"I'm always here everyday. (looks at me) Is he the one??"
-"Yes, he's the one. Kyosuke, meet Tori Akawa."

He walked towards me, then we shake hands, "So, your name is Tori, eh?? Nice to meet you. I'm Kyosuke Maiyuki."

"Uh...nice to meet you too."

Kairi then spoke, "Well then, since you two got acquainted with each other now, I will tell you about the 'team' I'm planning. Our team is to be named "MUGEN". Kyosuke, Tori, you two are going to be teammates."
-"Teammates??"
-"Teammates??"
"Yes, you two will be the drivers of our team. Show you're the best. Drive the best you can on each race, so that our aim to be one of the best in the world can be reached."
-"Yes, Kagiyama-san."
-"Yes, Kagiyama-san."
"(Kairi nods his head) Yes... So, let's continue discussing our plans at the office, shall we leave now??"

We left the temple, then got back at the office building. There, further discussions were made. Kairi introduced us to Yamato, our team head mechanic. "I look forward to be working with you, " Finally, everything was planned out. We would leave two days after tomorrow, because they were still to prepare some things; passport, his special and personal plane we are to use, clearance from the airport, etc. We then 'concluded' the 'meeting'. As I got on the ground floor of the building, I went to my car, "*sigh*, it's safe..." I was about to open the door, I saw Kyosuke-san running, "Tori!"

-"Kyosuke-san??"
Kyosuke, catching his breath, said "Kagiyama-san wanted to give you this."
-"What's this??" I looked at it, it was a keychain, a red "H" badge keychain.
"He wanted to give you this. I don't know why, but he told me to give it to you."
-"Uh, sure...thanks..."
"Well, have a safe drive home. I look forward to be racing with you."
-"Me too.." then I left.



Two days... that's plenty of time to tell my parents & friend about my "leave". Also time to pack my things. I got home, then told my parents everything. I also told them I will hang out with my friends tomorrow, so that is the perfect time to say to them about all of 'this'.

"What about the car, Dad?? What will you use for the shop??"
-"I'll just get a small van. It will only be for use in the shop, for getting supplies. Don't worry."


The day finally came. I have everything ready: my self, my things are packed, the car's in good shape, outside my house there is one of Kairi's assistants in a white van. We put my stuff in the van, then my parents hopped into the van. We were now ready to leave, the white van is to lead me to the airport As I was rolling out of the place, I said to myself, "This road is gonna miss the sound of my car..."



We now got to the airport. There, I met Kairi and Kyosuke. Kairi met my parents, shook hands with them and said, "Mr. and Ms. Akawa, I ensure you your son is going to be safe." Then Kairi gave me my passport. His assistants took my car and hooked it to the cargo bay on the plane. Then suddenly, I saw my friends. They were not about to let me leave.

"Hey Tori, be careful not to crash or scratch your car!!"
"Make sure to bring something home!!, I want food!!"
"Take pictures of the places you'll be visiting, We want to see them!!"
-"All right, all right, haha..."

I then went to my parents and bid farewell.

"Take care of yourself, Son."
"You take care of yourself, Tori. Be sure to keep in touch with us." My mom then kissed me in the cheek.


I am now ready. I have bid farewell to my friends and family. I have their support. As the airplane got clearance from the radio tower, we took off. I now put my friends and family behind, and now concentrate on the new team.

Our first stop: Italy. It was quite a long trip, we were able to sleep in the plane. When the plane landed, we had to prepare everything so that we could check in on the hotel and get the cars ready. After checking in and settling at the hotel, Kairi said, "Are you guys hungry?? You must be. Let's check out the local restaurants. Tori, do you mind if we use your car??"
"Uh sure, it's fine."



We got on the road and Kairi drove my Civic to a seaside restaurant. As we were finding a place to park, we saw a car that looks different from the other road cars. It was about to leave...



We three were then thinking the same thing. That red car is a sports car. We looked at the driver, he was looking at us. Kyosuke said, "Well whaddya know, looks like there's someone to race with."

Oh my freaking goodness, when I read the first chapter I thought it was turning out to be another Initial D story, but damn this is getting AWESOME! 👍 F&F 4 should drop whatever plot they have and buy your storey. And the pictures they just fit in so well with the story. You are a champion mate, keep up the good work.

Is this going to Australia and America? And will you be basing your races on actual GT4 races or just made up ones? Either way it will kick ass. 👍

It's definately a page-turner....if the internet were made of paper, that is.

I'm still in the mindset that it IS another I.D. story from around the second/third stage when Ry was making the allstar team with Tak and the others, but it's good reading nonetheless. I'm not disappointed so far.

But the travelling the world is very different, and I'm loving it

Chapter 4 : Twin Delta Part I​

(Editor's Note: When there is a race in the Chapter, the POV shifts, from the main character's to the audience's POV. After the race, the POV shifts back to the main character.)


As we were finding a place to park, we saw a car that looks different from the other road cars, it was about to leave...


We 3 were then thinking the same thing. That red car is a sports car. We looked at the driver, he was looking at us. Kyosuke said, "Well whaddya know, looks like there's someone to race with."



The driver of the red car got out. So did Kairi.

"Hello there. You guys don't seem to be a familiar face around here."
-"Yes we are. We are just tourists."
"Tourists?? Or guys looking for a race??"
-Kairi said smiling, ".....So you noticed..."
'Well, judging by your car, that's something you don't see everyday..."
-"We want to challenge the locals. Do you know anyone who drives fast around here?"
"He's standing right in front of you. So, you're challengine us, then?? Tomorrow, there will be some races around in these streets. We've already organized the course. Hope you guys'll come."
-"Yes, We will. We look forward to that."
"We expect you to come. But I still have to tell my buddies about this. Have a good day, see you tomorrow." Then the guy hopped in his red car and left.

Kairi got back in the car, saying "After we eat, you two need to get plenty of rest in the hotel. We race tomorrow".
-"Now we're talking," Kyosuke remarked.


Tomorrow came. We went at the scene of the said races. We saw the guy with the red car, "As expected, you came. Are you guys ready?? We are to start as soon as possible. I brought along my partner so that there will be two 'main events'. Who's gonna be you first runner?"
I saw the car of the guy's partner. It was the same, but the paint job is blue instead of red.
"He is." (Kairi pointed at me, then the guy came towards me)
"I'm Guiseppe Razzo."
"Tori Akawa."
(nods his head, then turns at Kairi) "Which position will you decide? Leading or Chasing?"
"Chasing, he will be at you back."
"Well then, shall we get going??"

The crowds were packed, I heard someone shout, "Hey look, it's Twin Delta!!"



[POV Shift]

(meanwhile, back at Team MUGEN)

"Say, Kairi..."
-"Yes, Yamato?"
"About our opponents, those two cars are the same."
-"I think that model is the Lancia Delta HF Integrale."
"Lancia Delta?? Is that why they are called 'Twin Delta' ??"
-"Yes. It appears they have a reputation around here, a lot of people know them."
"I see..."
-"Also, they are at a bit of an advantage. Analyze their cars. 4WD layout, WRC-breed, compact hatchback body ideal for rally racing and tight courses like this... we have ourselves a challenge in our hands."
"I'm worried, I just hope Akawa-san can pull off this win."
-"He can. He should, considering his skills, he should be able to apply all that he knows."

The race now has started, the red car leading. We agreed to a running start, because the space is too narrow for a stop start. Let the race begin!!



"Hmmm... first up, an uphill straight, then two consecutive corners. So far, so good..."



"Let's see how good this Team MUGEN really is. Can you keep up??"



"This is hard. the space is narrow, too narrow for overtaking."



"(looks at rear view mirror) What the?? He's right on my tail!!"
"Ill' just closely follow his line for now."



"Let's see how you fair in this next section, the downhill esses!"
"Whoa!! This is dangerous! The space here just got narrower!"



"I'm amazed, he's keeping up with me on these downhill esses."



"A jump??!! Oh no, I'm about to hit the wall!!"



"Hah! He's slowing down! Now's my chance to pull away from him!"
"Man, now he's pulling away. I slammed on the brakes and slowed down too much."



"He's fast... it's as if he knows every part of this course..."


"The third section before a complete lap... This is a steep uphill. If I let off the gas even for a split second, I'll slow down."



"We're now coming in at the second lap, I still can't shake him off. Is this really his first time driving here??"



"I need to overtake him sooner or later, or else I'll just end up in his rear end the whole race."
"He's tough. If I can just hold on to my position, I'll win. My pride as a local is on the line here..."



"An opening! There!!"



"Aaagghh! I went too wide!"



"I got the inside, I'll pass him for sure!"
"Blast it, now he has the inside line!"



"I passed him!"
"He...passed me........an outsider...passed me..."



"Now's my turn to pull away. Go, Spoon Civic!"
"Dammit! I got passed on my home course! I can't believe this is happening!"



"These downhill esses again... I'd better take caution."
"I'll catch up on him on those downhill esses and the long straight. No way I'm gonna lose!!"



"No good, my last chance is at the hairpin. If I don't get close enough, I can't pass him."



"He caught up?? Hope it's not enough."
"It's not good enough!"



"I.....won....."
"I.....lost....."



[POV shift]

I can't belive I won for the first time away from my home course. I am so delighted!
"Good race there, Tori."
-"Thanks, Kyosuke-san."
"Good job back there, you must have had a hard time, didn't you??"
-"Arigato, Kagiyama-san. Yes, I did have a hard time. Those two are not to be underestimated."
"I see. Kyosuke, it's your turn. Be careful out there."
