I couldn't find a tread on this so.

THE GTPSP TIME TRIAL THREAD
Simple post a picture of your time. (I trust you not to photoshop stuff in), and a pic of your car settings (transmission, tcs, asm, active steering, physics and tyres)
With the name of car and track and class (see bellow)

Car class system
When you select a car it shows it performace points. These select you class.
Class one: -100 hp
Class two: 101-250 hp
Class three 251-500 hp
Class four 501-750 hp
Class five 751+ hp

Class Rules
all professional physics
class 1. n1
class 2. n3
class 3. s2
class 4. r1
class 5. r3
tcs: off
asm: off
active steering: off!!!!
Transmission: Either
Your lap should be "Clean" If you run slightly wide completely by acident I don't mind aslong as it isn't often, and if I request a replay I will judge whether I find it ok.
To make the above possible please save your replay because if I find your lap suspect then I may ask for a replay.

I mean these points

The ones to the top left of each car

oh hehe, you meant Horsepower :embarrassed: Nevermind, it's pretty much the same thing. You could start importing all the times from me and Glubags TAC Seasons :P

I am a little uncertain about this. I would love to have an 'official' one of a kind GTPSP time trial board. I was thinking something super slick like the current WRS leaderboard, however that would require knowledge beyond me. I think something like that could replace the online leaderboards sorely missing from the game itself.

I'm confused about regulations though, there never seems to be enough information with these time trials for GTPSP. Are we using professional physics? Are we using quick tune? If so, which settings can be changed? What tyres are we using? Which parts of the tracks are counted for a clean lap? Should we have a replay upload system to ensure there is no cheating? How would we be certain that someone is not using a different set up or tyre choices that are not the regulations?

Also I’m not sure how we could class the cars; I think the horsepower system is inadequate as two cars with similar horsepower do not necessarily have similar performance around a circuit. Maybe the time trials would be per car per circuit and then some popular combos could be discovered. I’m not sure on this point.

I do realize it is a difficult thing to organize, but I think one big effort will turn out to be more active than multiple small efforts.

I was thinking something alike to the WRS boards but with manual uploading on the board itself, no fetching from forums as that would make track and car combos difficult to set-up. The user could go to the GTPSP time trial site, enter the track and car from the drop down boxes, type in their splits and final time, and then have the choice to upload, nothing, a picture, or a ghost replay file. Times with confirmed clean replays would always be ahead of picture confirmation and both would be ahead of no confirmation, to ensure clean times.

I am interested in setting a time around the Nurburgring in the M3 Race car, however I won’t be setting any until the rules are certain.

I think the idea is wonderful; it just takes the right implementation to make it a success. I can see myself browsing through the online time trials, searching for a combo I would be interested in and trying to beat the time already set. I think with a base of maybe 20-30 people actively setting times, this could be quite a success, another great feature of GTPlanet.

I would actually use a Global GTPSP time trial as it would give me something more to do with the game, also having it include every track and car in the game takes away the fact that it is not so easy to buy specific cars in this game.

This is most probably a massive fantasy that I will never see a reality, but maybe it might catch on. I am willing to help start it, I can check replays and I would set regular times, might be able to help with some of the set up. I personally think this would be a great companion to the WRS and another great feature that would continue to make GTPlanet the definitive Gran Turismo resource on the internet.

If anyone understands what I am saying or are interested in this idea, I’d love to help it become a reality. Perhaps we should start our own thread if we get some interest?

They are amazingly beautiful, professional stuff. I can't even begin to understand how it works or how much effort has been put into them, they really are fantastic, talk about keeping the Prologue flame going. If only I had the know how, rather than just the hunger for a PSP resource :)

-Spiran

Yeah,

JoostBaksteen, steven and alba do crazy work on the leaderboards. To figure out how to get a fetchbot and maintain the psp boards at all time would be a lot of work. Plus viewing all the replays you get would really have to be a 2+ Man/Women job.

It'd have to have quite a large following, I don't think many people are interested in GTPSP sadly. But it's nice to fantasize every once in a while.

(off-topic)

I've been thinking about GTPSP. I was thinking that, if there was enough demand.. We could 'write' a career mode. It's a little far-fetched but I think it could add a little more longevity to the game.

As in, have a thread on here where a file is hosted. The file detailing event regulations with which car to use and how many laps and with check boxes etc. The thread could be used for more event suggestions. I was thinking about this after reading through the 1000 miles event thread. We could either re-create GT4 career mode, Sunday cup, FF challenge, beginners hall, extreme hall, enduro etc, or just share good events, i.e a certain car against a certain line-up with a certain setup for a good race.

What do you think?

well is not a bad idea,and you are most of the time right, but i like to see this more like a kind of leaderboard for the lap times for the psp, but we should not measured in the way of horse power, becouse the regulations are diferent , and the bugatti veyron will not performance as well as a mclaren f1 gtr will perform, that is understandable but i consider that the rigth way to do it is not by combos of track/car, but of ranting by track/class, in example we cant put a f12007 ferrari(the f1 car) in autum ring mini and set a lap on it, so what we should do is make some regulations based on that, divide by clases both circuits and cars, and put some limits on them, i.e.:

suzuka west course: amuse s2000
suzuka east course: cuzco subaru impreza
suzuka circuit: motul pitworks 350z

so in that order could be sports class, semi racing class, and racing class, following circuits class, in that case , suzuka west(sports class), suzuka east(semi racing class), suzuka circuit (racing class) and we avoid making a hash of some stuff like an enzo running on motorpark circuit,semi racing class may be high modified cars(i.e. tuned version of stock cars like the nismo r 34 skyline), of course i consider that we can get the most of of it using this configuration, and using as reglamentation(no driving assist, pro phisics, regulate tire tipe based on the track,etc..)but i like to hear of somebody that came up with this, is very smart..... :sly:

Well even though the GT PSP community only has a solid group of people who still time attack from season one, it's still quite possible re-create the GT4 career mode.

Edited rules.

I understand what you mean abou the hp system. However My idea for this is that some cars will be faster on certain tracks. eg bugatti veyron on the test course will be faster than the f2007 on the test course. And the opposite on the nurburing. This will not only be a test of driving skill buy also what car you choose

IWe could 'write' a career mode. It's a little far-fetched but I think it could add a little more longevity to the game.

As in, have a thread on here where a file is hosted. The file detailing event regulations with which car to use and how many laps and with check boxes etc. The thread could be used for more event suggestions. I love the idea... it's similar to what another member here (bowie) had in mind when he created the 'campaign generator': http://sites.google.com/site/gtpspcampaigngenerator/

:)

When you select a car it shows it performace points. These select you class.

Class three 251-500 hp
Class four 501-750 hp
Class five 751+ hp

class 2. n3
class 3. s2

Your lap should be "Clean" If you run slightly wide completely by acident I don't mind aslong as it isn't often, and if I request a replay I will judge whether I find it ok.
To make the above possible please save your replay because if I find your lap suspect then I may ask for a replay. [...]

lbsf1 👍 ! Great job, thank you for doing this !!! I have two suggestions if I may :

1 . What about having 6 Classes, two for each kind of tires ?

I was thinking of the S tires that could go like that :
251-351 hp => class 3 => S1
351-500 hp => class 4 => S3

2. Or what about having two different categories : Stock+Tuned for road / All race cars with different tires rules (N, S / R) ? Because, for example, running JGTC GT500 cars with S1 -or S2- doesn't feel right to me -I might be wrong too !-... S3 why not but still...

And could you please define what "Clean" is for those who have doubts ?
(What about following The GTP_Registry Signup rules )

About the time trial leaderboard, because I couldn't find one that suits me I created my own here (you can see the tires'mess), and then created another one with the cars we used here. I can think about helping GTPlanet creating one like that, I don't now PHP language though... Or redo my website to make it a GTplanet one, but about the official gtplanet part...

What do you think ??? We should ask the modo !

OR/And what about having a gtplanet-psp wrs ? Like its big brother here. And having GTP_psp.xxx Tag...

I'm going to try a completely different approach. I'm going to make a spreadsheet. down the collumns on the left are all the cars in the game. Across the top is all the track names. Then the best times are filled in allong with the name of the person who set it.
What do you think of that.

Edit: If I did this the class and tyre rules would be redundant.

Edit 2. Here is the prototype leaderboard as an attachment. What do you guys think of it.

View attachment GTPSP TIMETRIAL LEADERBOARD.zip
Just to clear things up this is the offical leaderboards for the fastest times on any track. Unlike WRS where you can only use one car on one certain track this is for any car on any track.
