We're half way through the 2010 Formula One season. So, let's see where your heart lies this season. What is your favorite 2010 Formula One team? Why is this team your favorite?

I'll start off...

My favorite team is Red Bull Racing. I picked this team about a month before the season started. I've never watched an F1 season before. My friend had just moved into a new house, and his new cable setup included SPEED Channel, which airs Formula One in the States. We both decided that this year we would become F1 fans. We were originally going to root for USF1, but we all know how that turned out. So we now had to pick our own teams. I picked RBR because I liked the image of the team, being sponsored by Red Bull. My friend picked McLaren, so naturally, this season is getting pretty heated between us.

Well that's my story, what's yours?

I don't really have 1 team or driver I like, I follow several. They change each season and during seasons too.

But my favourites this year are:
Sauber - Kobayashi! :D
Lotus - the underdogs.
Williams - have always supported them since the Mansell, Prost and Hill days. Every year is a disappointment though.

This year I've kind of started supporting McLaren too for a change (for the first time since 2002), partly because I never really liked Red Bull and partly because I've always been a fan of Button. Hamilton has always been exciting to watch even though I'm not a fan of his.

Back in the 90s, I used to be a fan of Ferrari but their dominance left me wishing for someone else to win. Got a bit bored of Red .

The drivers I generally support are:
Button, Barrichello, Kobayashi, Glock, Senna, Chandhok, Kubica, Sutil and De La Rosa.
I used to support Massa when he suddenly became good in 2007-2008 but his comments of late and return to dismal results lost my interest. I used to support Vettel in Toro Rosso but now he smacks a bit of arrogance - media generated or not. He isn't really exciting to watch either as its usually pole-win for him.

For the poll, I answered Lotus as I find I'm following their progress the most out of anyone and they have been exceptionally open to the public. I also briefly met Tony Fernandes and Mike Gascoyne - top guys.

McLaren, because that's the team I've cheered for since I started watching F1 a few years ago.

I think Ferrari and HRT. They remind of Minardi. And don't forget those images they deliver with the PR events:

Yeah, for a team with such poor finances, they do a very good job of getting Bruno and Karun to do loads of PR work!
For Germany, they've been driving trucks. For Silverstone, they were driving double-deckers and naming Cosworth engines.

By the way, even if you don't use twitter, this is always a good read:

In order.

Mclaren - Two of my favourite drivers in one team.

Lotus - You've got to love mr nice guy plus their development seems to be going perfect at the moment which is good to see, hopefully they can challenge generic Red Bull B team next year.

Mercedes - I used to support Schumacher back in his Ferrari days and Ross Brawn is a great team boss / Force India - Punching above their weight for such a small operation.

The rest I'm not too keen on even though I do like some of the drivers such as Webber at Red Bull and Kubica at Renault.

The Brazilian side of Ferrari, and Red Bull. I've supported Massa ever since I picked F1 back up in early 07 (first race I saw was him winning the Spanish GP) Then at Indianapolis when Vettel stepped in for Kubica I instantly took a liking to him. Webber is also a very likeable guy.

Mclaren, closely followed by Sauber.

Never really liked Ferrari, their dominance made me lose interest in the sport quite a few years ago. Was never really a fan of Hakkinen so even the Ferrari vs Mclaren stuff didn't interest me that much.

But around 2004/2005 I started to support Jenson Button, and my interest in the sport grew again. Renault started to knock Ferrari off the top spot and everything began to get more exciting.

This season is the only one i've really watched very closely. Button is my favourite driver and Kobayashi is my favourite up and coming driver, so I support his team too.

My allegiance lies more with the drivers than the teams in the past to be honest. But after watching this season so closely, i've seen a lot more of the teams behind the drivers and I think from here on I will always follow Mclaren.

Did the poll, but I cheer more for driver than constructor/team.

Of course without a drive for a good team, much harder to achieve a podium.

Do most fans cheers for drivers rather than teams nowadays?

:idea:These days there is more info readily available about the drivers (they have their own web pages!); whereas as in the past it was the teams and the sponsors as source points for info for racing fans.

I am cheering for Mark Webber:gtpflag:👍;); hope he 'mentors' his young 'whipper snapper' teammate and finishes ahead of Sebastien; and better yet world champion 👍

And always cheered for a Villeneuve:tup::gtpflag::) ; watched Gilles, and his son Jacques

Yeah I am one of the older 'fossils' racing Gran Turismo :dopey::)

Gotta be Sauber. Always liked the team, actually. Eternally midfield, it seems, but they are like Jordan in a sense that they punch above their weight; 2006-2008 proved this, albeit with backing from BMW. But they've always brought forward new talent to the F1 circus, and have pumped out quite a few good drivers over the years.

Plus, Peter Sauber is a likeable guy; it says a lot about a man who could have let the team go, but saved it out of his own pocket :D

I'd have to say Red Bull Racing. I've wanted Webber to snap the championship since last year considering he's a fantastic driver and whatnot. Last season was great for him with his first podium victory. Hopefully it'll continue with a championship to his name.

Second favorite driver would have to be Barrichello, another one who deserves a championship to his name. 👍

I cheer for teams more than drivers as its really a team-sport.

Even though I haven't cared much about them in the past, this season I've been following Renault closely - mainly because of Kubica; such a great driver and a joy to watch. 👍 Besides, I like the color of their car!

I don't follow F1 very closely, but I'd say my favorite is Mclaren-Mercedes. They're a team that appeals to me for some reason. Jenson's textbook style and Lewis' aggressive driving also balances the team out very well.

I would say I'm a Ferrari fan but support other teams. I was a supporter of Toyota but was very disappointed with their performance considering all the money they spent. Now I'd like to see Lotus move up the ranks. As far as drivers are concerned currently I like to go for the underdogs so I'm a big fan of Kobayashi. I'm also an Alonso fan but disappointed with the team performance. I'm sort of a Vettle fan but not sure he is mature enough to be a champion. Used to not like Michael when he was dominating F1 but now he is an underdog I'm hoping he can dig deeper and bring himself back to form.

Wait, hold on...

You didn't like Schumi when he was dominant, but you like him now that he's somewhat of an underdog...yet you want him to dig deeper and possibly return to his dominant stature so you can go back to not liking him again? :p

That's an enigma wrapped in odyssey, that's foam packed into mystery.

NOTE: Yes, I am joking.

I've been a McLaren fan since before I started watching F1 in 2003. I'd always choose Hakkinen and his McLaren when playing the original Formula One Playstation game. I'm also a fan of Mercedes, thanks to Nico Rosberg, I've also started to become a bit of a Renault fan this season now that Briatore and Fernando Alonso have left and I've also taken a liking to Team Lotus.

I have always been a Sauber fan since the first time I watch F1 back in 2004. A midfielder and a while front runner with BMW. They seem to always have a good driver if not very good such as Villeneuve, Fisichella and from the BMW backing Kubica, Heidfeld and now De La Rosa and Kobayashi. The reason why I am a real big fan of them is because of BMW. I am already a BMW lover and them getting into Sauber was like 2 in 1... Unfortunately they didn't last that long but they will always be my favourite. Peter Sauber is a friendly and likeable guy like SaberFire said.

Another favourite team, Lotus. They are the underdog, yes LOL. So far they are among the best new team with a very good updates, experienced and race winner drivers, friendly Mr. Tony Fernandez, genious Mike Gascoyne they are all just awesome! They're working like they're professional as a new team and I like them.

EDIT: Owh, and also Renault a bit. Reason is because of Kubica, from what they were in 2007, 2008 and worst 2009, now they are building the team back up rapidly with the presence of Kubica and Petrov plus a couple of sponsors that really helped the team a lot. Their team members are also professional in handling situation like what happened to them in 2009. So far, they are one of the example of a good team.

Yeah, definitely Renault is the most professional and determined team out there. After all the dramatic up's and down's they have had, its very impressive that they can still hold it together, bring in the finances, push development and hire the right drivers.
Eric Boullier has come off as a great team principal this year, he has some humour to him and seems to be acting quite fair with regards to Petrov. They seem to be calling strategies correctly and getting both Vitaly and Robert into better positions than their rivals.
A solid team all-round really.

Frankly, I thought Renault would be damaged heavily with the loss of their leadership, Symonds and Briatore were always easily the match of Todt and Brawn and Williams and Head. But they have come out of last year even stronger, with a good base car and excellent development progress.

Renault seem to be the masters of a fast rate of development over a season, the past seasons they have consistently improved their pace from the start.

I have always disliked Ferrari as team even though they have had some of my favourite drivers. Jean Alesi being one of them, Alonso another. I would very much prefer to see the latter in another team. For some reason I don't like Red Bull, can't actually say why, it might have something to do with their #1 driver (and it's not the Aussie). I would probably like McLaren better if Hamilton wasn't in the team and I would definitely like Mercedes better if MSC wasn't there. On the other hand i wouldn't mind if Renault had a lot of success now that Flavio is gone and with Kubica there. I have also always had a soft spot for Sauber for some bizarre reason even though the cars is ugly.

I support drivers more than teams, this started with Montoya as a kid he stuck out whenever I got the chance to watch I like his aggressive style but he left for nascar which I struggle to get coverage of so at the start of 2007 season I thought I would support Hamilton as I thought he british and a rookie and should be intresting to watch, but I kind of support 4 drivers;
Lewis
Kobayashi- I like his style and his lack of respect for people status on a racetrack ( just because your a champion does not mean you're breezing past)
Chandhok- he seams like a lovely person and he just trys to make the most of whatever situation he has
Nico Rosberg I like the way he doesnt let things get to him (Schumacher)
the team I would like to win is irrevant IMO but it would probably be toro rosso I like there livery.

Paris.

👍 Good one! :sly:

I like Kobayashi. He doesn't care about reputations. I'm also glad to see Schumi return, but I don't think this is his season. The cars are way different from their 2006 counterparts, and so are the rules (personally I think that rule regarding overtaking on the last lap just after the safety car comes in is complete crap).

I have always supported Ferrari as a team. Now that lotus is back though I am supporting them as well. Not that I was familiar with F1 in the early 90's, I do always remember that the Ferrari and Lotus cars were my favourites.

Though outside of those teams I support Vettel and Kobayashi.

Williams is performing exceptionally well at this point in the season, so they are my favorite.

Interesting, the poll clearly displays which teams have been largely disappointing or muted this season. I actually agree with all 3 teams that have no votes having the worst character. Virgin started well in terms of building some hype but have since become a silent team other than their fuel tank mistake. Glock and Di Grassi have probably been the least-interviewed drivers on the BBC alongside Buemi and Alguesuari.
Mercedes have a bit more character but have been pretty disappointing. Guess no major Schumacher fans have voted yet and Rosberg seems to be distinctly left alone by the fans - people don't praise or criticise him very often.

McLaren - besides their performance their two drivers seem like two guys I'd go out for a beer with.
