This is the Gran Turismo 2 400M and 1000M Database. Here are the rules:
-You must submit your time and what car you did it in.
-Any car is allowed except for the CLK-GTR (this is due to the fact that not all racers can use it) and the Escudo (too powerful)
-by no means are Gamesharks or AR codes allowed
-if I find your claim off the charts, then I will ask for you to check again or to show me proof of the time
-Any powertrain is allowed.
-Any upgrade to the car is allowed.
-Just submit your time through the forum posts.
-Please, be fair, and have fun.
-I'll start with mine...

This is exactly what I've been looking for! 👍
I've just recently started 400m and 1000m tuning in GT1 , GT2 and GT3 so this thread is a pleasant suprize. 👍

I'm looking forward to compete with you GT_Prologue5.

As a starter I'll throw in my old HKS Drag 180SX 400m time: 9.948 from this thread.

9.948 - [R]HKS Drag 180SX - MadMax86

I'd like to see the times categorised as FF , FR , RR , MR , 4WD/AWD.
Also it would be useful if there was [R] infront of cars that are racing modified / are race cars to begin with.

Why isn't Escudo allowed!?!
Yea it's overkill and could have a category on it's own.

Other times to report in:

STP Taisan Viper

400m
10.220 - [R]STP Taisan Viper - MadMax86

1000m
17.987 - [R]STP Taisan Viper - MadMax86

Oh right , there are few times in my signature-links.

You know I was thinking about it and I just thought that just one set would be different, you know lets see what kind of different cars we can throw in.
And truthfully, there won't be a Escudo section, it's just gonna get filled with responses.

I'm not doing this for the first place but solely for the purpose of information so don't ask me why I'm using painfully slow cars sometimes.

Is hybridding forbidden here?
And there is no CLK-DTM. You may mean CLK Race Car.

EDIT: Anti-hybridding statement was tree'd:
-by no means are Gamesharks or AR codes allowed

Put all Tankuroded's GT2 400m and 1000m here.

EDIT: And now for timing:

Honda Prelude SiR S spec (J) '98: 0:24.493 (1000M, tuned to GT2RS regulations)

Here's a time I did recently:

400m
MadMax86: 0'09.536 RUF CTR 2 Sport

Now seriously GT_Prologue5 , you could separate the FF , 4WD , FR , MR and RR from each others.

My current GT2 400m records:

10.968 sec [R] FF WR
11.043 sec FF WR

9.948 sec [R] FR

9.839 sec [R] MR
9.766 sec MR

9.039 sec [R] 4WD
9.536 sec 4WD

8.034 sec [R] 4WD

Coastin' , here's some car specific times for you to catch and match:

[R] Cusco Impreza GT(J) '99 : 11.026 / 19.549
[R]Taevoin FTO : 11.055

Thanks man, but I think I won't be able to even get close. I'm not the worst player but goddamn there's a huge lot still missing to professional skills.

Here's a time I did recently:

400m
MadMax86: 0'09.536 RUF CTR 2 Sport

What's the secret? I just tried the 400m with a BTR Type I and could barely touch the 0'10.200 mark although my power/weight ratio's better. I mostly use a low automatic trans setting and put the ratios for the last two gears lower (= high top speed while having good acceleration in lower gears) and then start in 2nd gear. Tried to use traction control but I wasn't of any use, just made my times worse. Is it about the trans settings, the shifting, or what?

The difference between BTR Type 1 and CTR 2 Sport is their Drive train.

BTR Type 1 is RR and CTR 2 Sport is 4WD.

I'll try the RR's soon.

Here's a short quide for 400m and 1000m tuning.

Try different suspension settings using Automatick transmission
For consistensy keep X (acceleration button) down all the time , pressed down before the start of countdown (3 ,2 ,1 , GO ) , before the ~180 degree turn , even before the track and car appears visible.
Just keep it down once the game starts to load the track for 400m or 1000m test.

Allways test one suspension part at a time.

Try min and max spring rate settings , 4 combos.
Try max and min ride heights , there are 4 possible combos.
Same with dampers but the amount of combos is 16
Camber and toe settings - As a standard I set them all to 0.0 and 0.00 .
Stabilizers , try min and max settings. 4 combos.

Suspension fine tuning = spring rates , ride height and camber/toe settings.

For gear tuning use manual transmission

Set the gears so , that the last gear is as short as possible.
Check the Turbo/NA upgrade at change parts page to see where the car's powerband is and where the peak ends.
After the peak there is a drop in HP . As a standard 500-2000 rpm after peak is the place where to shift up.
The rpm where to launch the car is usually that / max rpm.
Last gear in not allways the last gear availeble.
Launch gear is not allways the 2nd gear.
The 2nd gear of the gear set (not gear #2 but 2nd gear of the gear set) is usually longer than the ones that are after it.
Set launch gear for maximum acceleration , but so that there is enought grip and not too mutch wheelspin.
Set the the "mid" gears so that they stay at the power band/power bands peak from about -2000 to +2000 rpm.
Most cars are 400m or 1000m setups only.
Some are boght with exactly same (one) gear setup , usually first tuned for 400m and then just set the last gears for 1000m without moving final gear ratio.
3 or 4 gear setups can have longer rpm usage lenghts.
5 to 6 gear setups can have shorter rpm usage lenghts.

Down Force Test min and max settings , 4 combos.
For 1000m minimal down force at front and rear is usually the best setup.

LSD I usually set all to maximum.
Fine tune after the gears are finished.

TCS and ASM
I've found that ASM has no effect what so ever on 400m or 1000m
TCS is only usefull with RWD cars that have very high power combined with low weight.

Heh , I don't want to reveal too mutch.
So that I don't spoil the self learning experience.

MadMax

Wow. Thanks a bunch for that long and detailed explaination. Never thought suspension could have an effect on straight-forward acceleration. The more you know! Will get back to the garage asap and try every new thing I know now. Thanks.

Anyone know the world record 400m time for the Escudo PPE?

Ran a 8.063 a few nights ago just for the hell of it, wanted to see where I ranked.

Thanks!

Welcome to the 'Planet, Neil :)

I merged your question into this, the most recent discussion about 400M times. A look around the boards indicates 8.0xx times are what most people run. Here's a few results from a search that might prove useful too.

I have no idea of the Escudo WR , but as I wrote above I've ran a 8.034

And I hold the GT2 WR for Non RM and RM FF with my Intrepid. (link in my signature)

I got inspired by you NitroNeil , to continue the Escudo tuning and some time ago I cracked the 8 second barrier.

Link to the picture is in my signature.

sorry for bumping, but i think this is pretty interesting thread.

400M
0:09:879 [R] Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34)
0:09:941 Nissan R390GT1 Road car 97

stock tranny in both, tho, i think i could improve the R390's time by fiddling with it a bit, but i just stuck the giant turbo in it, bought slicks and went to machine test :D

Man, I'm going to have get back into GT2 and get some better times... lol. I had recently found my records from a game save circa 2006, and it looks like I should be able to get better than those now.

These were my times on that 2006 save:

Forgot to post this here when I uploaded it to youtube :

That was pretty much a one timer.
Haven't been able to reproduce a 7.8 after that one run.
Luckily I had my USB capture device ready to just plug in and catch the replay. :dopey:
