I have an issue with the complaining-complainers.

Why is it so bad for a person, who paid for a product, to comment about their thoughts on that product in a forum designed for these comments?

Such a thing is not whining or tantrum throwing. However, flaming sincere posts with name calling and character criticism is weak at best and is exactly the act that the flamer pretends to dislike. The idea of free speech is not a freedom to mislead and interfere. If you have a COMPLAINT, make your own thread.

You didn't finish your last sentence.

As for complaining-complainers, they have a right to voice their disappointment, its an internet forum. Any forum without any complaints isn't really a "forum" is it?

But over time, the amount of complaining about the same thing, key words: same thing, kind of gets annoying after a while.

Then of course you have some people just troll with the same complaints over and over again just to annoy others.

My advice: Accept it for what it is, and move on.

Cool half story bro.

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's people complaining about people complaining about people complaining :sly:

One of these has to be reported. Which one? Hmmmmmmm.

Fair enough....

And I do not know why my first post came out incomplete. I set it up correctly. Who knows...thanks for the post.

I get the discussion perspective. But if a comment is not about the topic, but a criticism of the topic, isn't it also just a pointless complaint that makes the poster guilty for that which they are condemning others?

Not necessarily. What makes or breaks a topic is the criticisms it garners. If it's just half-assed attacks with no back up evidence, then the topic will just go down the drain. If the criticism is good though, and has solid facts behind it, then the topic has contributed to the forum. Every topic in this forum has some form of criticism in it. Heck almost every conversation someone has with someone else in this world has some form and amount of criticism in it.

Edit: If anyone is interested in seeing bad topics and arguments check out gamefaqs, the flame wars there get intense.

Understood. For that matter I hate half posts that complain about complaining, etc...

That's the best thing I've heard all day... it's the delivery that counts!👍

Wait isn't your post a complaint about complainers complaining about complaining?

My head hurts.:ouch:

If they fix the stuff we are complaining about there would be a lot less complaining.

It gets old when people nitpick at every little thing they dont like. There are legitimate complaints to be made and then there are just self obsessed douches who think GT5 should have been developed specifically for them and cant appreciate the game for what it is.

I also hate when ignorant people claim to know how PD spent every minute of their development time and pretend like they could have better managed the development of GT5.

Ok...that is also a fair point and well spoken. I can accept relevant criticism. What I am seeing though is a steady flow of rejection of any expression of dissatisfaction with GT5. I love the game and figure anyone who posts here at least wanted to love it. I hope people keep giving pertinent commentary despite the "be satisfied" crowds belittling. None of this should become personally abusive or insulting.

Thanks for your not-so-kid-like thoughts. Then again, kids know plenty about having fun and being fair.

That it is. But it is it's own thread and not a bash to another person's intentional post. As I tried to imply, make your own thread if you wish to lodge a new complaint.

This. Enough said.

And you are right, rejection of dissatisfaction is occurring, but it was bound to happen anyway. Like economic recessions, we hate them, but it's eventually gonna occur.

All we can do is sit back, and enjoy the "fanboys" defend against the "haters".

Oh don't read too much into that, I was just messing around. No qualms against you or your topic.👍

Edit: By the way, Qualm is a good word to impress the ladies fellas.

Constructive criticism is more than welcome , complaining about the same things repeatedly without using the search function and being an advertisement for kleenex is a whole different story.

Yo dawg I heard you like complaints so I put a complaint in your complaint so you can complain while you complain

I don't know what the big deal is with criticism or complaints? Also I've been getting flak for complaining. I wouldn't be complaining if it wasn't a problem in the first place. I guess people are supposed to eat the soup and like it.

I still enjoy the game despite some flaws and I'm just waiting for the next patch.

If a person makes a valid complaint in a civilized tone then I agree with you that the people that ridicule him (as in that 'i'm depressed with GT5' post) are the real losers. If someone makes a silly trolling neg comment then they deserve to be flamed!
imho,ymmv
:)

All of you guys have been reported because I'm blinded of the people that are actually complaining.

*nods*

Which thread are we to follow?

DAVE

sbk is becoming the Bill Cosby of the boards here. And yes, I mean this as a compliment. ;)

This is the problem. The complainers don't seem content to post their gripes once, or a dozen times. Or a hundred. They seem hell bent on forcing everyone to feel as crouchy and pissy as they are, no matter how many posts it takes. So needless to say, finding a remotely sensible post to reply to takes quite a bit of patience these days...

I think when people have raised a fair point of criticism it has been greated very well and discussed at length. The problems to me seems to come from some common types of complaint.

1) The number of people launching new threads with the same old complaints over and over again.

OK we get it. Lots and lots of people don't like the way you cant tune individual gear ratios. We don't need 20 different threads all saying the same thing.

2) People that complain just to complain and add nothing to the debate.

<rant> GT5 sucks.....rah rah rah....how could PD release this $%^ <rant>

and? is that really all you have to say? If all you want to do is say you think the game stinks do you really think we need a new thread for that?

3) People that go over the top with their criticism.

If you remember there was a thread shortly after release asking what people thought GT5 should have scored in reviews and there were several people in there saying it should have scored 30 or below.....How can anybody take that level of criticism seriously? You may feel that GT5 has issues but it's still one of the best racing games you can buy. Go and have a look at Metacritic at the games with an average of 30 or below and tell me with a straight face that GT5 is comparable to them.

Feel free to criticise GT5 for it's faults (no game is perfect) but keep it in perspective.

When people are complaining like that I think it's fair enough for them to be hit with negative comments back again.

When people complain in an honest fashion I think people treat them very fairly.

And since were talking about people complaining about complainers......a pet peeve of mine.
Seriously people stop complaining about "grinding".....your not grinding.....your "playing the game".

If your not enjoying playing then (with all due respect to the OP and the point of the thread) then just stop playing. Life is too short to keep doing something your not enjoying for no reason. Go find something you do enjoy and do that instead.

Tonight I'm running the Suzuka endurance race for the 3rd time. I'm not doing it because I need the cash or the XP or to get to level 40 as fast as I can. I'm running it because it's a damn good fun race. I'm not "grinding", I'm "playing the game".

The problem is that even well thought out, clearly articulated posts about issues with GT5 get EXACTLY the same fanboy 'quit yer' bellyaching' and the REST of the forum doesn't flame them to death, even if they don't agree with the OP.

Civil discourse depends on EVERYONE coming to its rescue when fanboy immaturity raises its head.

And, you know what? There would only be a TINY fraction of the legitimate 'complaints' if there weren't a cavalry charge of 'I don't care about the facts, I don't care that you MIGHT be right, how DARE you say anything negative about my game fetish...' which is what perpetuates these threads. I mean, who, other than someone who has resigned himself (or herself!) to only being able to race online with a tiny handful of Friends, or just wants to hotlap the 'Ring can, in all honesty, say that GT5 ISN'T a poor effort by PD?

The facts are irrefutable. The grind EXISTS. The poor AI exists. Much is missing that was a well loved aspect of GT4, and a complete surprise that it was dropped.

Until everyone comes to the rescue of any member being flamed simply for voicing his opinion with reason and example, rather than dogma and polemic, this isn't going to stop...

I don't know if anyone's asked this yet, but what does this actually have to do with GT5?

I suggest a mod move this thread somewhere else.
