Has anyone had a problem when coming out a menu (GT Auto, UCD, Parts Store etc) that it would take a enourmous amount of time for the game to load. If you have is there any way to fix it??

Are you connected to the PSN? If so, try signing out & seeing if it speeds up the load times...... I have found that sometimes this eliminates the "waiting." 👍

I noticed huge loading time for opening museum cards and closing museum rooms/manifacturers. I suppose it's a PSN server issue, and started after 1.06.

The last time my ps3 did that it was when my hard disk had kicked the bucket!
And it did it so progressively that I never realized that i had a problem until it just gave up.:indiff:

GT5 is the only game i play on my PS3. so i installed the files to the HDD, believing it may speed up loads as suggested by the PS3 docs.

didn't seem to work. waits are as long as evar. o well.

Are you rockin the standard HDD?

The standard one does have increased load times compared to people who've upgraded there HDD

I can't access PSN anymore because my PS3 refuses to install the new 3.60 firmware.

From my experience, the game now loads faster as it doesn't have to upload information to the server everytime you save your game.

I saw your post about it before, I have never heard of anything like that before, it's really strange. Have you tried contacting Sony about it, maybe they'll have an idea, then again they probably won't.

For me the Museum can be really slow these days, but most other things are fine, except when the internet is busy, it starts slowing up a bit then.

I have contacted Sony but they don't seem to give a damn about me. Personally, I'm thinking that they are doing so to deny any responsibility. I'm extremely frustrated and have filed a formal complaint to them, hopefully, they'll reply.

Anyway, back on topic, getting into different menus, loading the UCD and saving the game seems to be significantly faster if you don't sign into PSN.

Even loading tracks and races seem to be slightly faster.

In conclusion, I recommend signing out of PSN if you don't need to go online for anything. If you do want to go online, you can always exit GT Mode and sign back in.

I installed a 60gb ocz vertex2 ssd in my fat ps3, especially loading tracks is a lot faster now :)
Too bad the ps3 bus is not sata2 though..

Same here. 60gb ocz vertex2 ssd and loading time has drop significantly. GT5 was the only reason why I needed to upgrade to an SSD.

SSD and only SSD is the solution !

I changed yesterday with a Corsair CSSD-F60GB2-BRKT
60GB - 2.5" - Read Speed: 285 MB/sec - Write Speed: 275 MB/sec

VERY FASTER !!!!

the specs you give are the ones from the ssd right (aka not the performance the PS3 can deliver on file system basis - which is not even 50%)?
I know that SSDs will speed up the loading but its rather overkill on a ps3 (but my pc is happy with one too)!

Loading times in the game itself have been fine for me,the issue i have with loading, is the start when you 1st put the game in,they took away the HHD tab that you had to click to continue to speed up getting into the game, the 1st few days it was quicker, but not much, but since then, it takes absolutely ages to get the game loaded up.

This problem has almost killed GT5 for me. It is an awesome game but after 1.06, my game has slowed down significantly when connected to PSN. I even upgraded my HDD to a 320GB SATA thinking that my original 60GB HDD was the problem. Not so.
I now disable my network connection unless I trade or want to play the seasonal events.
I remember in the late 90s someone telling me that the tolerance for page loading times on the internet was 20 seconds. I thought then that that was a loooong time. My GT5 today takes a minute or longer to boot up, or get out of an oil change or tuning.
