Random idea that has no doubt been thought about before but I haven't seen it......

If credits were available to purchase from the PS3 store at a cheap rate (20m credits for no more than $1) everyone could stop going on about the cost of cars, no one would need to grind or glitch and I and anyone else who doesn't give a toss about stupid arguments about cheating vs not cheating could get back to what we want from the game we bought, online racing!

Thank you and goodnight.

it's a japanese game not a korean game.
👎

It feels like a Korean game, heavily divided with nutters on both sides of the border.

No that would be dumb... Imagine if COD had a system where you pay 5$ and it puts you at top prestige!

The only COD I know anything about comes with batter and chips so I have no idea what you are talking about.

And Prestige, that sounds like a cheap aftershave or the name of a team of over enthusiastic, under achievers on The Apprentice (USA)?

Anyway, what was your point again? I got side tracked thinking about Donald Trump and his funny looking hair.

While I wouldn't spend real money to buy fake money I don't care if others do. They could offer an "unlock everything" DLC for all I care.

20m credits for $1? Lol come back to reality. If PD were to allow you to purchase credits (which I doubt they ever would) then they would probably charge $1 per 1M credits, $15 for 20M CR, etc.

Context man/weasel! Context.

Would you drive around in circles instead? Or are you, like me, uninterested in levels or getting all the cars in a short period?

Anyway, weasels are pretty cool, all furry and that. Stoats on the other hand..... TOTAL bastards.

Tight gits. If that's their plan I would probably have to set a stoat on them.

Oh the horror.

First, your posts are hilarious. 👍

On topic, I don't grind for cash or xp, and I'm in no hurry to collect enormous amounts of cars. I have most of the cars I want already really. I bought the game to do time trials and some online racing, so that's what I do.

If someone wants extra cash in the game and can afford to pay for it, I don't see a reason why they shouldn't. Same for unlocking all the cars. If someone wants them all but doesn't want to grind all the money for them or wait several years to get the money slowly, go for it, buy some "unlock the cars" DLC.

Basically, I wouldn't do it because I have better things to spend my money on, but if they offered it on the PSN I wouldn't be bothered one tiny bit. 👍

A balanced and well thought out view, particularly for a small, active predator, long and slender with short legs. Good job.

I'd prefer cars and/or tracks.

I'd like these too, along with world peace and the immediate arrest and detention of anyone who as ever sung "Angels" by Robbie Williams at a Karaoke night at the pub.

BUT that isn't the point here my man. I Would it stop/limit the glitching/grinding?

I already paid for the game, thanks.

I'll ask you the same as I asked our furry buddy Weasel, would you drive around in circles instead? Glitch? Or are you, like me, uninterested in levels or getting all the cars in a short period?

COD sucking. Not a pastime for the squeamish I reckon.

Beautiful.

Cod sucks anyway worst game ever made.

Worst game EVER? Think hard.

Back to the original topic.. actually, I could see why Polyphony might be tempted to do it. I'd hope they wouldn't do it though, defeats the point of earning credits in game.

As a counterpoint I say it doesn't defeat the purpose. It's pretty obvious there are several "groups" of players on this forum.

Some people simply want all the cars so they can drive them all whenever they like.
Some people want the experience of slowly building up their garage as they go.

With the suggestion in the first post, both groups would be able to do just as they please.

Just let everyone do what they want. Simple. Just don't worry about it.

Whilst I accept your point of view, I'm not sure how it would defeat the point if the individual player feels there is a point. If you see what I mean. For those for which there is a point "earning" credits they could still do that surely? :)

Evidenced by the factions on this forum there is no desire to "earn" credits amongst a substantive portion of the players represented online*. That segment of players simply wants to drive the full range of cars in the game. This would be a cheap (even profitable) and easy way to cater to their requirements whilst not changing the game for those who want to play the game a different way. Those people who feel the need to "earn" their passage from Fiat to Ferrari could do so and those, like me, who basically race online and don't need a huge garage could choose either route.

Licenses and Special Events remain untouched so a challenge and, for new drivers, a learning curve remains. Equally A-Spec remains as a credit and xp generator for those "earning" but is also there as a dip-your-toe-in bit of fun racing for those that want to run the plethora of cars against an offline field.

Online would be free from inconviences such as glitch rooms and anyone could quickly obtain a suitable competitive car for just about any online event.

Everyone's a winner, baby.

On a related note, philisophicallallally I'm not convinced that the concept of "earning" credit in a racing game is suitable. Equally the experience level as it is now does not truely represent experience (as in a progression of skills), it represents time spent. Two very different (though potentially related) things.

Well said, more succinctly than I could ever manage. 👍

That was sort of the point.

Surely no-one wants to drive Indy a hundred times, surely no-one wants to do donuts for 8 minutes or drive in circles for 20?

And by the way, you're right, there is about 23HoursToGo. Though sometimes it feels like 23 seconds. :)

*Not necessarily in itself representative of the wider gaming population, particularly given GT5 spans age barriers to a greater or lesser extent.

I think the issue is, GT5 should have come with an unlock all button from the start. Seems silly to pay for such a thing. Though $1 isn't a lot [until you remember it might only get you one car].

I wouldn't pay. I'll just keep getting around GT5's credit system. If PD does provide an unlock all option in a future update, then I'd take it.

Fair enough Exorcet, though it strikes me as odd.

My scheme (bwuhaha): 20m = $1 (or comparitive amount after PPP) or less.

Your scheme = 20m even on SSR7, a 7 minute race (200 donuts, less than a minute finding the spot and getting the car spinning neatly and consistantly under 1.5 and in the wall first time) = 3.6m. So five races for near on 20 million. Taking into account the race end time and race start countdown that is a minimum of 40 minutes.

If I had to choose between spending a dollar or doing something pointless for 40 minutes I'll pay the dollar EVERY time!

My time and yours is worth a boat load more than $1.50 p.h. Our limited leisure time particularly.

Are you and the poster I referenced earlier telling me you like to grind? Or you like to do donuts for 8 minutes or drive in circles for 20? If you do that's cool man but I'm not sure I'm understanding you right.

I don't get it? Genuinely. :)

[EDIT - An alternative to the unlock all button would be a seperation of a section of the online play AND a better arcade mode which included an event generator]

They did an unlock all cars DLC in Burnout Paradise. There were suddenly lots of people online trying to control F1 cars who hadn't had chance to gradually learn the required skills.

I'll ask you the same as I asked our furry buddy Weasel, would you drive around in circles instead? Glitch?

What is the point of a racing game if you're not interested in... well... racing?

They don't need to allow us to buy money, they just need to add a way to make some really good amount of credits in not a lot of time. Like the bonus races, we just need more of those.

I think it's a good idea but the scale is wrong.

$1 = $1

$20,000,000 = $20,000,000

Then they should implement tax on your total cr. The highest amount of credits/day x 25%. I could be in vitual debt, not just real debt. Then charge $500 for registration and another $500 for insurance per car per month. Then they should sell limited edition GT5 rubber bands. They should also make people pay for damage to their cars. Also for damage to others cars, especially online.

Or they could do nothing I suppose.

No, stupid idea... The burnout thing was really stupid, everyone paid the money, and it suddenly didn't matter that you put weeks of work into getting all of the gold, or platinum or carbon cars... Everyone and their grandma had them.

The only thing I might throw down some coin for might be new cars and new tracks... which is most likely never even going to happen considering PD takes an extremely long time just to put out simple fixes, and things that should've been included in the first place.

PS... World of Warcraft is retarded. (because of the ad above this flashing how cool it supposedly is)

Burnout had a tiny fraction of the cars GT5 has, plus it wasn't that much work to unlock them all anyway, the only difficult one was the Uberschall 8 Carbon and even that just meant you had to have two friends and a bit of time. Buying a time saver for GT5 would mean unlocking several times the amount of cars, and would be ridiculous (so I am actually agreeing with you after all...?).

It would be odd for Sony, a company that doesn't charge gamers to play online even though it would be acceptable as a certain other company does, to suddenly let you spend money on unlocking things you'd eventually get anyway. EA can do it because they're third party, Sony, as a first party publisher, has to maintain a certain level of quality and value for money, though I can't really explain why I believe that.

It would just be a really strange move for Sony, at least that's how I see it. I'm sure some people would pay for it, but it would be a somewhat dangerous precedent; for a first party publisher to condone shortcut DLC (a practice I really, really hate, personally), the level of what's acceptable in the world of DLC would be lowered and we'd be one step closer to having to pay extra to finish a game and such.

This is just how I see it, anyway, I didn't mean to present this as fact.

So, essentially, I don't like grinding, but I'd far prefer it to Sony lowering the DLC tone, if you get what I mean. Anyway, there are so many alternatives to grinding that that doesn't even apply any more; Rubber band grinding, automated B-Spec/Remote Racing... Actually, that's it, but even so.

On a final note, I hope PD do include a mode of letting those who can't be bothered to actually play the game they paid £40-50 for get the cars they want in GT6. Why not just have all the cars available in Arcade mode or something (aside from the fact that the list would be massive)?

Here's my revised price list;
5.00 USD = 5,000,000
10.00 USD = 10,000,000
20.00 USD = 20,000,000

Basically, 1.00 USD = 1,000,000 GT5 Credits.

This Could get you that long awaited P4, or that Ferrari F2007
While Giving PD a reasonable profit AND satisfying time-limited players:tup:
It's the ultimate solution!!!
*Of course, You still need to be the proper level to purchase cars like the P4...

Give us all a complete unlock option. I've stopped playing right now mostly because grinding the single player game is not what I had planned. All I want is online leaderboards (yes, for every track and every variable), so I can enjoy driving any car I want on any track I want and compare my abilities with other players in the same set-up, improving my driving as I do it.

The single player game is soul destroyingly boring and fair play to those who have the time, tenacity and patience to have soldiered on with that and now have endless credits and all the cars they want. Sadly I simply do not have the time for that, but I still paid my £40 for this game yet it's languishing around not being played and enjoyed because the game demands a ridiculous amount of my time which I simply do not have. I also bought a DFGT wheel for this and I'm a little bit annoyed that the poor game design has led to this outcome, I don't care how traditional it is for GT games to work this way, at least back in the time of GT1 I was in school, had long evenings and whole weekends to play, now I'm lucky if I have 2 hours a week, spending it grinding Indy or even worse setting the game up to race for me, is not what I had envisioned for this game.

Just let those who want unlock everything and play the game how they want do that, does it really matter to the rest of you whether I 'earned' said car or whatever, and as others have said, there's complete idiots driving F1 cars who don't care if they crash into you, idiots who grinded just as much as the genuine players. I consider myself a genuine player but I do not have the time, simple as that. Now let me enjoy this game, heck I WOULD even pay a nominal fee, £5 for such an unlock some day. I hope they do implement that, would make my day.
