After playing GT5 for so many months, are there still things which make you gape in awe? Personally for me, I simply can't get over how breathtaking the Nurburgring time shift is. The sun going down over the hills and just cascading onto the track and your car.....
Took my Silvia spec-R Aero '02 for a drive yesterday and was just thinking "My God, I can't believe how beautiful that looks" And the way the dashboard instrument panel lights up after a while 👍
For all of Forza 3's pros, it just can't measure up to GT5 in certain departments.

Another thing is the Photo Travel. Love just walking around the premiums and zooming into the interiors, etc. Looks fabulous.

One thing that really impresses me is that they have interesting descriptions and history for every vehicle. I often find myself intrigued by the information they contain.

I agree. I have found myself watching demo after demo, sometimes for hours. Just to read the text scrolling across the screen.

how true to life the car's feel(using the chrysler 300c as an example,my grandparent's own one)

Check the musuem if you haven't yet. Those cards don't have all the info in the world, but the more you get the more the story will fill in. And I agree, one of the better parts in the game.

No doubt the ring when it is at night during rain.

You start to appreciate how much coding skills those guys PD have when even simple things like dashboard light up when the sun goes down.

My TOCA Series... Race 3 at the Nurburgring... at 8pm. Half-light, good visibilty, but sun down, lights on...

+1 👍

Sunset is just awesome, but so is rain and especially rain at night and the transition to a sunny morning. Even accellerated time is a good thing, driving a car from dusk till dawn just gives me the shivers.

A few hours ago, I finished the A-spec Le Mans race (spread over about 40 hours). It was raining most of the time, however, at night, while driving down the Mulsanne straight, you could sometimes see the tail lights of other cars that were quite a bit further down (about 1 or 2 kilometers). Every single time, I was just amazed of how real and beautiful it looked. Just two red lights racing off into the distance.

I also race on the 24h layout of the Nürburgring quite often, just to see the sun go down.

Everytime I´m amazed how fantastic they builded the Nordschleife! Breathtaking. I wish they would gave us finally those damn online leaderboards...

1+

Agreed, this is also something unique to GT and is missing from other driving/racing games.

Was doing a race online at the Sarthe with time change in my bone stock 458 all the while listening to SURVIV3 (the song from the gt5p opening movie) I just loved it

Just been online with a bunch of Zonda R lovers on the ring and beat them with my Stealth Mclaren F1 took some doing.

Made me smile.

Premium cars - they are not just very detailed - they are beautiful!
Lighting engine - just best in the business. I get wow every time I saw sun playing with car and taillights.
Cockpit view and surface shaders (excluding blocky shadows) - best in the business. They are completely fooled my eyes. So beautiful and so accurate. So realistic. Shadows affects smoke, rain, snow. Just amazing.
Night racing and weather effects - they just looks realistic and beautiful. Taillights lit track, smoke and rain.
Smoke effect - every time 100% wow. Just perfect.
SSR7 - all of them together in one track...
Physics model and overall responsiveness of the controls (no input lag like FM or NFS). And it feels very natural.

Wow... the Bugatti Veyron can't get around the corner. Dammit!

Seriously, the only thing that makes me go 'wow' to be honest, is that I keep playing this game even though I've bought 3 new games since it was released.

- "Wow, I actually started up GT5 again..."

For me it's the different environmental effects at dawn or dusk on the Nurb or at Le Mans. I mean seeing the light appear at dawn or disappear at dusk is mesmorising in itself but when you add in a hazy sunrise, when the game displays the volumetric effects of nature, it's in a class of it's own.

most close races qualify for a WOW from me, especially comebacks that happen after I've given up once..then keep going just for the poor payout expected....then you win it somehow.

The lighting engine.

I second that,I hope they change the interior's a bit though,I find having to struggle to see my dash in daylight a little strange(I have a digital dash on my car thats hard to read when the sun hit's it a certain way,but when I look around the car I can still see everything lol)

Headlight detail in phototravel!

Yes I can agree with you on this one. The attention to detail in phototravel is damn awesome.

I personally love taking pictures at night going through SSR5's tunnel (the one that curves left in the beginning) and take pictures in there. It looks so freaking realistic, I always do a double take.
