Welcome all New and Returnig Racers! OP has been updated with the new info.

No Problem thank you for the intrest. It's sad to hear about your PS3.

Hey Gamesta are you interested in added some flare to this season? I ask because I was wondering about doing a handicap system using the tires. It would require being able to use Hard/med/soft tires and using the reply to dq someone for not following the penalties.

I also reckon we should add Success Ballast as used in real motorsport.

The Tire Idea is quite feasible as it can be policed the Weight Ballast rule I will not be able to police. I will have to think about how I would go about working that sort of rule into the series, as the first race everyone will be on an even playing field but I am getting idea's on how I can implement it and keep track of it all.

Well the weight is what they do irl supergt but gt5 doesn't have a way to enforce or check a cars weight that's why I've been trying to use tires as a handicap

Tires are definetley the most suitable way. I just have to find away to enforce it ie.Distance or finishing position

The way to police succes ballast is as follows.

Driver A has success ballast 30kg. So you will set the min weight to 1130 then driver A joins track.

Then you set the weight back to 1100. Just make sure that Driver A doesnt exit track. Its as simple as that.

When you change the regulations it will kick everyone out of the track.

It doesnt kick. Only if you are breaching it. Trust me, the system works. I've done this. If you want to test this before hand, let me know and I'll do it for you.

After much thought and trying to get a viable way to institute this penalty. I have come to the conclusion that it will not work for this series. What I am concidering doing is a n F1 Style rule where you will have to use two compounds of tire throughout the race ie. Hard Med compounds or Hard and Soft Compounds. But still have't decided yet on that rule.

This is the method they use in the WSGTC series. It helps as it stops drivers from dominating. It is so easy to do. But whatever you say. Its your series.

i am in the WSGTC and i must say that tires are the way to go if you want to enforce a penalty for the fastest drivers ballast doesn't slow guys down enough i can run the same lap times with 30kg's of ballast added to car

1st- 65kg
2nd- 45 kg
3rd- 25kg

This is a good ballast penalty system. Extra weight does affect drivers. It adds between 1-2 seconds. The difference between the tires however are too big. Softs compared to Mediums are about 5 seconds adrift. I can back this up.

In my series I am using Soft tires and my fastest time around la sarthe was 3:49.something. In this series my fastest was 3.55.something. Even with 10 bhp more I was 5-6 seconds slower.

the differnece between the tire compounds are only two seconds between each tire compound we have tested on multiple cars for a new series that we are running

That is soo not true. Done hours of testing on both sets with my yellowhat.
