I play both of these games and I think they are great. I am not interested in starting a controversy up over which is the better game, but I thought it might be fun to see some shots from both games side by side. Just for the record, I am playing the new kid on the block more these days, but I think I prefer photomode in GT5, you?

Yes another Forza Vs GT5 thread.... thank you... 👍

BTW, the last picture looks like a plastic car

Hate already? Last picture. car looks good, surroundings are even better.
smh.. horrible attitude.

But on another note, if I really wanted to see Forza4 pictures, I would go to forza planet or the official forza forums..

Did not mean to start a war, sorry. Just thought it might be fun. Both of these games are great by the way.

GT5 has more options, more control and flexibility, and a bit better detail photowise.
Also a much smaller watermark and straight export to PS3 not Export to web and save.

Interesting thread. I don't have forza but would love to see some side by side pictures of both games!

I play both games, hence the thread. Of the two Ferraris above, I like the Forza one (black) for the color options and no numbers, but I like the GT5 version for the lack of faired in mirrors on the fenders. I will put a few more up, hopefully others will do the same.

I can't see the photo's. But photomode doesn't rally mean anything. It is just how well someone can take photos and some photo's from GT5 CAN look like utter crap.

Both games can create great results if you know what you are doing. I enjoy both photomodes and games. Both have their pluses and minuses.

Concept of the thread is this...
I thought it might be fun to see some shots from both games side by side.

And i think the same thing someone CAN say about F4.

Just a tip, but if you guys want to make a comparison, you should take pictures in a similar environment (e.g. similar lighting). Also, leave your pictures unedited.

Just my opinion.

Cobaiye, you can't even use that as a direct comparison, no one can do straight from GT5 vs. Straight from Forza 4 for multiple reasons
1. GT5 is Direct export, Forza is online export (artifacts, sharpness, color)
2. Forza has contrast ingame options, GT5 doesn't (again, color, contrast, detail)

I agree totally with you, you can get some jaw dropping results from both of these games. Even though I have spent most of my time the last month in Forza4, I still marvel at the things you can do in GT5. The one thing that irks me about my GT5 photomodes shots is what I have to do to get a good standard car shot. Case in point are the Veyron and Ruf, possible but more difficult.

I was about to suggest this be merged with an older thread based on the same topic, and now I see this is that thread. So long as it doesn't devolve into bitter arguing and stays on the topic of Photomode itself, I see no reason for it to be closed 👍

After playing with Forza's photomode more, it's... Ugh.
It's rather clunky and un-responsive, trying to move the camera just a little bit is a near impossible feat, and you have a limited camera movement as for the Y axis. Not to mention the rig shots are horrible. Even in perfect focus, small parts, like badges and tail lights still get blurred out for some odd reason. The bokeh/focusing is very wierd (what the hell does the focus bar even do?!) And 8MP shots take For-ev-urrrrrrrrrrr. And, the measley 1280x720 size is microscopic against GT5's 1920x1080. Sure, when you save Forza's pictures off the online gallery (Which I haaaaaaate as a quality nazi) You do get PNGs. Still only 1280x720, but they're atleast PNGs.

The only thing really good about it, is the contrast, exposure, brightness and color sliders, which can produce better straight from game photos, but when you think about it, you're still essentially editing the pictures as most of us do with GT5's pictures. But the whole photomode still feels rather bad and could be improved greatly. GT4's was/is better than Forza's.

tl;dr? It's bad. The in game contrast/color settings are nice, but the controls them selves need to be completely revamped. It can take good pictures, but it's just not as... good at it.

still tl;dr? GT5's is great, Forza's needs work.

Only the bottom 2 have been cropped/color toned in Paint.net, the rest are straight from Forza4/Horizon.

I have to agree with most of what you said gtuned, I play the Forza franchise a lot more these days, but I also take a bunch of photos and can't help but wish that their photomode was on par with GT5's version. Both of these games can learn a thing or two from one another. Camera positioning in Forza leaves something to be desired and the matt colors just do not look good when taken in shaded areas like tunnels, where I like to work. All in all, I am glad I have both games.

Thank you for the comment, I did change the title for that specific reason. We should be able to enjoy both of these games without the discussion descending into a slugfest. Both of these games offer a lot of good stuff and both are not perfect, but they are a lot of fun.

In my view more people should be visiting Forza Planet, instead of relying mostly on this topic for images from the Forza series.

errr merrr gerrrd.

Horizons has an RWB. I might have to buy an xbox.

But on a more on topic note, some of the Forza reflections look like they render funky. I played both, and I really enjoy both. But it's been while since I placed forza.

It's actually the Porsche 993 GT2, from the Porsche DLC, but yeah. It's essentially an RWB, and there's a ton of replicas on the storefront. That one there I made myself.

I personally love FM4's photomode. Why? Much more accessible. Not having to change to 16:9/pan mode 2/3 everytime, plus being able to take a picture at almost anytime makes it much better, IMO. I can make very small adjustments and will make a large impact on the photo. Just a small collection of both.

For over 1,000 Forza photos, click the flickr in the sig.

All in game settings, no edit on any Forza photo. Small light adjustments on GT5

I totally agreed with Gtuned about photomode comparison. The camera in F4 is awkward but there are some editing abilities which allows to create very nice artistic photos without postediting on PC. I noticed that I am rarely edit F4 photos elsewhere besides the F4photomode. There is another very annoying thing in F4 concerning photos download. I mean the procedure to get the photos on PC. In F4 all photos that you want to get out of the game have got to be uploaded to F4 server and only after that you can download them from server to PC. This is horrible because you've got the limit of only 15 (as I remember) photos on the server to be there at one time. And each time after reaching that limit you out to delete them in order to free the space for another pics and the worst is that you've got to delete theme one by one!:mad::mad: There are no such simple option as to "delete all". I understand why they did that - there is some kind of premium paid subscription without limited space on F4 server but they really want to make people mad with that! Another thing which should be mentioned here is that in F4 you can make photos directly from the race without waiting your replay! And that feature is rules for me. That is a very comfortable thing. And the last thing is that in F4 you can upload video from the replay (again with limitations) but comparing with GT5 where no such ability at all this is good thing in F4.

A few of the McF1, such a nice car.

I love the wheel colors you can get in GT5, and the wheel choices and sizes in Forza4, can we just combine and have the best of both worlds :)
