Edit: This is an extremely old thread, disregard it.

Okay... Brace your selves everyone.. I'm about to rage..

I can't stand a SINGLE thing about this event.. I just can't.. The formula GT drives like a damn tank on sport tires.. It understeers like a pig.. the event takes like, 2-3 hours.. the AI are a bunch of idiots, 20 laps against them is like reading a biography on Britney spears (A.K.A. A waste of F:censored:G time..:mad::mad::mad::mad:) I get first in the first 3 races.. and then Madrid circut comes up.. a personal most hated track in the game.. I get last in it.. I then go on to the next race, where I am put in last place 5 times, literally 5 times, in 1 race, becuase the AI forgot to stop, or because they randomly down shift on a straight away, and catch my left front tire.. and it some how put my car into a Tazmanian Devil Inspired 1080* spin. If you are on the straight and somehow come into contact with grass, is SUCKS you into the grass and the more you fight it the less controll you're in.. AHHHHH i wish this event was either 100 laps shorter or just never invented at all... :ouch: 👎

-----------------------------------------------------------

sorry about that I'm just so ticked off at the game right now..
What is everyone else's Least favourite A-Spec Race?:dunce:

FGT championship is up there with my least favorite.
But nothing tops 9 hours of Tsukuba. I don't know what Kaz was thinking when he approved that bit of programming.
The one thing about the FGT that greatly helped me was you have to be smooth. I know it's a battle at times to even pace the pole position. But once you pass him it's all yours as the AI goes into retard mode. "Alright guys Mitch just passed us, clearly he wants this more than us so let's just let him have it."

I managed to do all those events no problem first time. But i race in gtp's formula gt championship so i spend 10 hours a week in an fgt so its pretty much natural to me now. Just practice the fgt then it gets fun. Its the perfect drivers car as its so hard to drive but once it get it its amazing.

I hate this one. Just because it takes FOREVER!!!!! I might no life it tomorow if I can find a fgt setup for each track. I just can't stand it. That's the only normal A-spec race I have yet to do. Heck I did the n/a roadster at Tsukuba before I tried this crap again.

man.. I just finished it.. And in the suzuka race I drove smooth, just like XXI said, and it drove quite alot better then it was with me sawing at the wheel, the last race, was actually not half bad.. I wouldn't do it again.. the only reason I just did it is because I've been putting it off since I first had the game.. but I've got the "I'm not going to have this game for a full year without finishing everything" mentality.. so i did it.. ughh bloody waste of time..

Doesn't it only give you the Fireblade and finally allow you to get that blasted trophy?

I really like this event. Driving the FGT takes practice but it's very rewarding once you get the hang of it. As stated above driving "smooth" is the key.

It's funny how true that is. I also hated and kept putting off the FGT Championship. Then a group of friends decided to have a scheduled race with FGT's, so I spent some time getting used to it and fell in love with it. As stated above, it's a driver's car. Once the driver/car relationship clicks, the thing is absolutely a dream to drive.

That pretty much sums up the FGT, when i first started racing it, i hated it, despised it, now i adore it, especially when it has cockpit view now.

The AI obviously don't know how to drive, in other races yes, but with FGT's, not a chance. But i like how there is 20 laps, alot more racing.

But my least favourite is the tsukuba 9hr, its so boring and repetitive. I just can't stand it, 53 secs a lap, you do like 500 something laps, even if you make it hard for yourslf, its still bad.

I think I have completed A spec except for this and the 24 hour races. I don't look forward to doing them either.

I hate Tsukuba. So many people like it and I can't understand why. I feel like killing
myself after five laps at that damned track.

I hate this event. Really frustrating to do. I'd imagine you have to be a machine/cyborg/terminator to have the precision driving to steer the FGT and win against the other AI's FGTs.

I got gold for this event and still have not done the race at Monaco because it is fricking impossible for me. Like seriously impossible. Me, a human, racing a 'no regulations formula car', on a tight tiny track, against 'AI Machines' driving that same 'no regulation formula car. Insane...

One more would be the FGT Seasonal at the Nurburgring Nordschleife. Another insane race...

Finally, I realized.
Formula car racing just ain't my thing. :)

Until I started racing online this was my favourite event and I thought it was a bit too easy, my least would be the Indy endurance (so boring). If you drive the FGT smooth your will be fine but if you chuck it around you will probably lose. I have heard that the AI gets a huge boost when you are leading so just dont look back and dont spin out :)

To everyone who's ever raged at the FGT in either the seasonal or A-Spec championship races, you've clearly not gotten into the "groove" yet. What I mean is the point at which you've become one with the car you're in, and the track you're on. All 3 of you meld into one concise unit and nothing else in the world matters. Corners all flow as if you're in a dance, hitting every move precisely and repetitively. There's no need to look at your speedometer, you just know. You know what gear you're in without looking. There can be no distractions around you, for to acheive this it takes loads of concentration, but when it happens it's glorious. It's almost an out of body feeling of floating along for the ride where everything becomes automatic for you as you race along at 200mph. Acheive this state of mind and you WILL win these events.

That being said, I've managed it a few times, but not to the 100% level I need to be at to win the FGT championship. Many many laps later I have yet to crack gold in it, just silver. You must approach it with a certain mindset at the start, one that will allow you to hit your stride and focus, then slip into "the groove" I mentioned. Plan a time to do it when there will be no distractions around you. No wife, kids, telephones or visitors. Play background music if that helps you get inside your head deep enough to hit it, or not. I prefer the car sounds myself, it's music enough. Don't approach it as though it's a chore or a game. Rather, approach it as though it's a milestone for you to conquer in your life, albeit a smallish one. Be positive about it. Take a deep breath, focus, then hit the Race Start button.

Add 60 kilos to the trunk and the fgt will be way more manageable. I was struggling for a while on this series, after adding weight, gold was had first attempt.

I despise this event. No way am I sitting down for hours only to get a car that I already have 6 of

Forever? A couple of hours really isn't a long time. I hate most of the short races in the game, especially online where most people don't want to race for more than 5 minutes at a time.

Understeer?? In an FGT?? How??

It is a fairly annoying race series, mostly just because the AI is so bad. They're not that much worse than in any other race, but the speed makes all the brake checking tough to deal with, and the twitchy open-wheel car makes all the side-swiping tough to deal with.

I've managed to fail the event 3 times so far because I just can't stay consistent enough. Only once did I stick it out to run Suzuka, which being my first time there is probably why I failed last night. It hurts to fail at something that should be so easy... lap after lap 4-5+ seconds faster than the brake checking idiots that PD considers a good idea for competition, then I spin and have to pass them all again. And of course if you do get a lead of 5 seconds or so they start gaining on you even while you're running laps even faster than the ones you were gaining 5 seconds on them with.

Ah, well... run it once more, don't spin out 6 times every race, and it'll be a breeze.

Double Post due to PS3 won't let me add more characters.

I didn't notice the OP said Sports tires, maybe that's what caused the understeer. I was considering using those tires just to make the lap times a little closer. I'll have to check that out.

Of course, that still won't stop the bots from slamming on the brakes when I'm directly behind them, or when I overshoot a corner and should otherwise harmlessly fall back in line behind them. But as annoying as they are, they're not really to blame for my losing.

I'm puting this championship of as well.
t's not the races are to long, (i've doen the Grandvalley endurance at least 10 times and the Nurburg 4 hours 4 or 5 times.

But with these cars 3 laps is to long, haven't donw the seasonal event with them neiter...
I would rather have a roadcar chpmionchp with that amount of laps.

Not sure If I'll do it in the end.
I won't get Platinum anyway..

I love the FGT, with a DFGT and cockpit mode I can spend countless hours practicing courses trying to beat my best times in it.

But I have to agree with the OP. The FGT championship is perhaps a little on the unbalanced side. And devoid of fun.

I love the FGT championship and I personally think every race in the game should be a minimum of 20 Laps. Its a challenge, but a smooth driver can Gold it no problem. I am with all the others that Hate the 9 hour endurance at Tsukuba... that is by far the most boring track Ever!!

Formula car racing just ain't my thing. :)

The key to Monaco imo is finding the racing line. It's impossible to be fast there unless you are hitting the proper apexes. Once you are hitting all the turns then just focus on consistent lap times.

Finally don't try to win the race in one lap. If you are trailing just be patient. A five second deficit might take five laps to erase but a mistake from pushing too much might double the deficit.

For those who get squirrely during braking, change your brake bias to front biased. That and don't brake or accelerate in anything but a straight line. If you do be prepared to make quick steering changes.

The AI is what makes that championship annoying. Actually the AI makes most of A-spec annoying. It blows my mind everytime the AI lifts off when you are wheel to wheel with them. They are such wusses, and no fun.

That said, the Formula GT is one of my favorites in GT5.

Yeah I guess you're right. I rage quit the event a looooong time ago (back when I was ignorant of all technique) and haven't tried since. Now I guess I just don't want to spend 1 mil. rebuilding my fgt. ugh. Il do it tonight. I thought today was the 20th so yeah.....

Just stay very focus, accelerate softly, use racing soft tires, maybe you'll need some aids on like ABS 1, TCS 5, Anti skid on, and do not do all the races in a row. I suggest you to do two races at max, and take a break. Try to win the first events, and just manage your points for the lasts races. I remember finishing last on last race, and still won the championship (of course, you must check your points and who is 2nd and all what you sure know).

Good luck

Suzuka 1000KM rings a bell. The Super GT cars are so annoying, the NSX ALWAYS wins and it is SO boring.
And I hate the Tsukuba Miata 4 Hours. 4 Hours. In that...THING.

Winning in one lap is exactly how I won this event. I outbraked the AI the first 2 turns and I was in first. Then it was just a matter of running well enough not to be passed.

When I first did the championship a year ago I didn't even run the Monaco or Suzuka events. I had enough points from winning all the other events to take gold with last place finishes in these two.

I skipped Monaco because I hated it so much from the historic race, and Suzuka was raining and I didn't need that frustration.

But I came back and won both events later just because I didn't want to leave it unfinished.
