Hi all, I've just modded my G27 wheel to allow connecting sequential shifters such as bare wired Frex Shift+, EC Sim Pro Shift, DIY sequential shifter etc. Since I couldn't find any wiring diagram for this online, I thought I'd share.

Why go through all this trouble? For PC, this is not necessary, for PS3 and GT5 compatibility, this is necessary (I think). It's also useful for PC because you don't need separate mappings for using paddle shifters and stick sequential shifters.

Basically, first, is remove the wheel, then remove the wheel casing. Then feed through 3 thin wires through the hollow shaft to the pcb board on the wheel. You'd notice I used 4 wires on the board itself but the common wires are then joined as a single wire. Solder the wires and you're done. I'm no electronics guy, so if there is a better way, please share.

And out the front are these 3 wires ready for connecting to your sequential shifter.

Nice, I did something similar with my DFP.

I'm working out a mod that duplicates the shifter PCB so that it might be possible to make your own G2x compatible shifters or adapt other shifters to work with it, it wouldn't void your warranty either.

I've noticed I have a history of talking about mods here that don't exist that I've thought up that never get finished (or indeed started), but I want to adapt a G25 shifter locked in sequential mode to work with my G27 so it will get done, just not yet!

Well, not quite like that, I'm going to have my G27 H-shifter on the left of my seat and a sequential on the right. Also what I'm making isn't just for plugging a G25 shifter into my G27, it's to basically 'break out' the shifter controls so you can do things like what you've done, wire up a handbrake or replace the shifter buttons with nicer ones, but without voiding any warranties. Well, maybe. Either way, it'll be cleaner and easier than opening expensive stuff up.

Well, yeah I've been opening up stuff alright. My G27 shifter had already been modded for better feel and I've just added handbrake to it, chilicoke style, ie. wired to "O" button. So, from left to right we have, handbrake, h-shifter, wheel and sequential shifter.

Damn, I left 2 screws which are meant to be inside the wheel casing. I'll have to open it all up again. Another day... Grrr!

Ha ha, I know that feeling, I think that's why the majority of mods I start don't get finished, reassembling stuff is a pain... Well, there's that and no one was interested in DFP mods anyway.

I don't want to void my G27's warranty just yet (it's less than a month old), though, so I have to work out ways of modding it without modding it, if you see what I mean. I bought a used G25 shifter (in pretty poor condition), opened it up and was surprised to see how simple the circuit inside it is, so I figured I might as well try and copy it. I could just use the G25 shifter board for what I want to do but there's not much to learn if I do it that way.

Just would like to clarify, shorting out either the up/down wire with the common wire causes it to shift gears right? And the common wire is just 2 wires basically acting as a bridge?
If I were to wire one common wire, and one upshift wire to a switch, activating the switch will cause an upshift or downshift depending on the wire used?

And those wires you used are soldered by yourself? You just tapped into the circuit ala chilicoke style right? Thanks :)

Paragraph one answered here:

But I missed paragraph 2 :(
1. And those wires you used are soldered by yourself? Yes. Hope your soldering is better than mine ;-)

2. You just tapped into the circuit ala chilicoke style right? Yes
