Clean Run Challenge #14 '67 Lamborghini Muira
at the Nurburgring Nordscleife
Fourth Race in the 550pp Lamborghini Exclusive Seasonal 1 Lap

Specs: 1967 Lamborghini Muira on Comfort Soft or Sport Hard Tires
No added parts. If you don't have this car or a stock version, send me a psn fr to:ncrthree

After all the accident avoidance from the last couple Events, this will be most likely a solo run. Upon request from CRC Vintage Car aficionado Stirling Moose, we'll be running another beautiful Italian Classic on the demanding Nordschleife. Some easy throttle input on cold tires is the only worry. Take it easy or drive like a maniac, it doesn't matter. This trip will be a pleasure either way.

THE GOAL:
Your fastest Total Race Time. The Race Events are basically Time Trials with moving obstacles (AI). Most are only 5 laps so think of it as a longer Time Trial but with other cars on track. Most races will only last 7-10 minutes. Winning the race is not the end goal-it's the Total Race Time. A 5 lap Overtake Challenge.

THE RULES:
1. No Driving Aids. No SRF, TCS, *ABS, ASM, Active Steering. Driving Line and Transmission Choice are optional. For inexperienced ABS OFF drivers check out this great guide: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=267564&highlight=guide+tO+no+abs

**If you are new to ABS OFF and having difficulty you may use the assist. Experienced no assists drivers are expected to not use it. There will be a separate leaderboard. Please note "ABS" when submitting. Thanks.

2. Tuning Prohibited. No added parts, ballast, weight or engine stages. We may add power if a car is too slow for a decent run but that will be very specific. Brake Balance is all that can be adjusted.

3. Tires. Comfort Softs or Sport Hards -Separate Leaderboards

4. Track Rules: Only fully clean runs. 2 wheels on track at all times. Rumble Strips are part of the track. The white line is the boundary otherwise. *NO TRACK CUTTING.*

Note: To be clear on what constitutes a "clean" pass, we will use this rule from the GTP OLR:

You must establish substantial overlap with the car ahead before they reach the corner’s turn-in point to have the right to drive up their inside, or to expect them to leave inside room for you. At least the front of your car should be up to the driver’s position in the ahead car. The ahead driver has the right to be fully committed to the racing line of their choice without any interference if there was no substantial overlap before he turned in.

So if you've made a clean pass according to this rule and the AI initiates contact, that is acceptable.
In some instances a pass may be accomplished by going inside the AI if they've left sufficient room. As long as you don't initiate contact, it's clean. Just use your best judgement, this is supposed to be fun!

5. 10 Maximum Clean Runs. Restarts or dirty Runs do not count toward the total. Winning the race is not necessary for a submission. No deadline for submitting a time.

Anticipating this I took Giuletta73's stock Miura for a spin last night on SHs. The best I can say is I got round without crashing in less than 8 minutes. Completely lost sight of the P11 car. Looking forward to having a go on CSs. I can't help feeling the overtaking rules might be academic here.

I'm no Ring Master for sure. This is a good way to (re)learn this track especially on comforts. 1st run down 7:58.734. Ran pretty cautiously just to stay on course.

Yeah, the clean passing rules are not needed, heh.

I can also put a Miura up to share if anyone needs as I have two stock, barely used. Giulietta probably has several though! PSN woodski427

Edit - just noticed Ncr also has a share, so probably not needed:dunce:

Interesting proposition, can't even remember the last time I set wheel on this track!

Wow this will be difficult. Why can't we use the SH tires? That would at least allow us to pass some of the cars.

Nice picture.
What colours have other people painted their Miura?
I did mine the Lambo Red in homage to the Italian Job - (A bit like Jay Kay - never mind eh)

And I before U ( - As In I am in a Miura and going fast, U (you) are in some non-supercar obviously slow.)

Tempted to get another... But not have it in Green or Red.

And Matt Munro on the 8-track... and yes, No tunnels at Nurburgring! (Or bulldozers!)

As it shows in my sig I have 344 Miura in my garage. They are all painted with a different paint except the 50th one I bought that I have left all original.

I would like to lend them out to anyone who is interested. They are bone stock except for the paint.Just send me a pm and I'll put up six in any colour of your choice(light reds, dark greens,Light blues...etc.) until we find what you're looking for. First come first serve. When you select one let me know so that I can put up five for the next driver to choose from. I don't have any of the new excusive(hidden) paints but I do have all the GT chromes, mattes, colour shifts,polarised,flourescent,etc...

Just send me a PM and I'll give you my PSN id.

Try it on SH'S and let me know if you can overtake any other cars. I don't mind having a separate leaderboard. I don't have time today to test. Thanks.

Ok, for starters - 8.05.426. A very conservative run. Just getting a feel. Braking really eary. Using 2/1 BB - seems to be most stable for me at the mo.

PM's sent to those how have posted here. Regs changed to allow default tires.

Cheers NCR, I may just stick with the CS's - now down to 8.00.078. Gotta get into the 7mins!!!

I've painted one Miura in a pearlescent Rose something colour - can't remember the exact name. It's sort of a dark pinky red. Looks OK, but may yet change it. I'd done less than 20 miles on SH around Trial Mountain in this car, but went straight to the Nordschleife on CS. First thoughts were how unstable the car is - it suffers from the usual GT5 mid-engine maladies and offers a taste of the Lambo lunacy that was to come. It is very fast though!

I'm fairly familiar with most of the course, but the complex section after Karussell still evades me, so I'm braking early, or missing the best lines, or staying off the throttle until I can see over a crest, etc etc.

Numerous restarts led me to a BB of 5/1 - this setting didn't give me terrible brake release oversteer and I found that 4 at the front didn't seem to give enough high speed braking.

After and an hour and a half I managed about six complete laps - three of which were clean. I was still finding the Miura a handful but I started to enjoy the drive as I got a bit more familiar with the track and car: lots of early, straight braking and subtle steering. Definitely going to try this again.

Third clean lap, clearly at a more pedestrian pace than the rest of you: 8:24.878.

The replay looked pretty good on the whole, with the Miura sliding about on the comfort softs, old school style.

"On days like these, when skies are blue and fields are green, I look around and think about what might have been..."

First clean run on CS 8:12.205. Taking it pretty gently but even so had a couple of scary moments. And I actually did put Matt Monro on for the full experience, but I really need to hear the tyres so no easy listening from now on.

Bingo!! 7.58.554 CS's - replay saved.
BB 2/1 (did ponder 1/0 but haven't tried that yet.)
Now it might just be me, but I feel that cockpit view is way more stable than bumper cam. In cockpit view the snap oversteer is 95% dialled out. Why - I don't know. A better visual sense of the car stepping out over the view of the steering wheel where you can see your own inputs perhaps?
I was getting fed up with correcting a small slide and careering off in the opposite direction. So I switched from bumper cam to cockpit view and the car felt 'proper'. Correcting the slide did just that, and I lived for another corner. Much less twitchy, more planted on the road.

The less tire squeal, the better my times - eventhough it felt painfully slow round the tighter corners. Easing the throttle on for maximum traction I found to be another key factor - well, for DS3 users like me!!

I was scared of this CRC, but not anymore......maybe:nervous:

Well done, Giulietta73. I had another go and knocked a couple of seconds off but I doubt I'll ever get under 8 minutes here. Why do I keep suggesting these things? Did you have a go in the Praiano tuned car? I recommend doing the Toscana race in it. Guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.

I haven't yet, Stirling, but I've borrowed it, its ready to go, just need to find some time this weekend. Can't wait!!!

One more run last night and dropped to 7:56.949. Using 2/0. So many turns to improve upon. Really feels good to me, I wonder what the top speed was in real life.

I love this car's cockpit view. Cockpit view is all I've used for about a year now. Even with Standards. It gives me a better sense of where the car is on track. I tried bumper view the other night in a Standard car and was completely thrown off. Felt like I was hovering over the track unattached to anything!

That's a great time NCR, That's something to aim for!!
This really is a CRC with a huge sting in the tail: how many clean runs have I wrecked by losing it at the end of Dottingerhohe??!!!:irked::dunce:

Can I have a rule clarification.
"2 wheels on track at all times. Rumble Strips are part of the track"
I did a 8:05.xxx and 8:06.xxx but both times I went wide onto the cobbled area and ended up with two wheels on the cobbles and two on the red and white curb. DQ or legit?

I'd consider it legit. You see people in VLN races do that all the time

That's clean. As long as 2 wheels are on the curb, it's legit. Great times BTW!

Excellent, thanks. But in that case I think Giullietta73 has a better time on the Murci one. I'm sure he DQed himself for doing the same thing.

Changed B/B to 3/1. Now it feels like real brakes, much better with little lockup. Easy to modulate and threshold too. Dipped under my goal of 7:55 with a 7:54.729 then a smoother lap of 7:53.921.

I'd spent an hour just pushing my brake zones, wrecking and sliding. Then decided I needed the confidence of a full lap. Relaxing helped and yielded my 2 best so far. Not sure there's more especially pushing like an idiot. I'm loving this combo, a fine choice even if it's a 12th place finish.

Edit: After a filling meal, rich dessert and some needed real life socializing dropped down to 7:51.916. Much better than I had figured on. 4 tries left now.

Impressive time NCRthree. I've had another couple of runs, using 3/1 BB and taking Giulietta73's advice about minimizing tyre squeal. Much more in control but still only 8:05.215. I've got 4 more goes and I'd like to get under 8, but the chances of me keeping it tidy for a whole lap and going faster are slim.

Dropped some more. Down to 7:50.607. 2 more clean runs left. Smoother is faster...no kidding.

Haven't beat my time yet, got 3 clean runs left. Great seasonal:tup:
Reaching the end of the sweeping Kesselchen - a turn or 2 before the Karrusel - is a real adrenaline rush, that beast is doing +150mph and you know that just a little too much input is going to take you on a short trip to the scene of the accident!! Magic!!

Yes, I was being very cautious through there - fast (but not too fast) left then the tricky right with a nice bump to unsettle the car (Klostertal?). For me, it's the awkward "do I restart?" point; I do usually carry on even if I've stuffed the lap.

I see your pic made it to the news page Giulietta!

Some fast times coming out chaps 👍. I'm hoping to get another go on this tonight or tomorrow, doubt I'll get too near to 8 mins though.
