yeah, the same that was available at the tokyo show some time ago. It was here (now that sony and playstation are officialy in Mexico and are a company all by themselves, not brought here by particulars) in the Electronic Game Show held today... and im, you know, like yay.
The gameplay isnt as easy as GT3, the car is now easier to lose in turns, the sand stops you RIGHT now and desbalances the car completely, if you really go into the sand, you WILL spin to hell. Also, if you get hit while in first person view, the screen becomes all blury, and it gets disturbing sometimes. you enter in pits and your entire crew come out, lift your car, and change your tires (I did that with the VW bug =D).

The graphics are amazing too, it looks very similar to GT3 at first glance, but comparing them (wich I did, GT3 was there too) unfurls the differences, wich are clear once you se them. the textures are better defined now, as well as the light effects, the people now looks better, and the cars look really better, the reflections are awesome, and there is the much-discused bakfire now.

and of course, the cars. There were 377 available cars for playing, but obviously, I went for the obvious: classics! I sank my theet into a race 427 67 Vette, a 440-6 73 Cuda, a 53 Mercedes Benz 300sl gullwing, a 67 Jag type E V12, a 64 Pontiac GTO, a mid-seventies Skyline and Fairlady Z, the VW split window and Karmann Ghia, a Jensen Interceptor, a Gineta, the Dome-O, a Lancia Stratos, a 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS6, new and old Ford GTs, a 510 Datsun and a Renault R5 turbo, and my favorite of the night: A BUICK GRAND NATIONAL!!!! wich btw drives like a dream, those poor M3s couldnt chase me.
I also tried a few race cars, including the sauber mercedes C9, that BMW LeMans roadster, the CLK GTR and the Sonax C-class Touring car.
other cars that were there, an idiotic ammount of stupid japanese cars (a dozen miatas, I didnt even counted the EVOS), but some of those were interesting, the oldies, of course, and some race and rally (a mid-nineties mitsu pajero dakar  ) cars and tuned cars (mines, HKS, and other tuners have their own "choose yer car" secction. Spoon and its integra are there too). there is the complete BMW lineup now, including the M3 CSL and the new M5. Mercedes got some cool stuff now as well, and there was just one playable aston martin, the Vanquish. TVR had its complete lineup and a cool Tasmin from the 70s.

All in all the game is awesome. the tracks are amazing, but the demo had a time limiter so peope could get to play with it. Stupidy, the GT4 area was almost empty, to the point that I got to ride in all the cars I mentioned. it was givin' the controler to the person behinf you, then line up again behind him! stupidity ensues.

well, I cant wait fo the final version. To think that there were only half the total cars and tracks in the demo overwhelms me. I just cant wait. Man I cant wait.

Sounds cool. 👍 Shots would have been nice, but hey, I'm not complaining.

hahaha, I was SO into playing that I forgot totally to take shots (and besides, there was some heavy vigilance. why? dunno, its a public demo now)... however, one of my friends is working there. I'll tell him to take pics (: dont worry, I'll have some later

Slick6
What was that like?! :dopey:

SLOW! hahaha, nah, it was cool, you could go the whole track with the pedal to the metal and it wouldnt go over 140 KILOMETERS per hour. it was cool. The really cool one was the rally version, wich ran strong but the lancia Stratos raped me to hell. a mid-70s Rally silvia also was there, but I doulcnt test it =(

Soo lucky, Cano! I'm glad you enjoyed it. 👍 Did the muscle cars sound good or did they sound fake?

You mention the full line up of TVRs, can you confirm the Tamora and the T440R? Also, did you note the selection of RUFs?

Did you happen to notice if the SLR made it into the mercedes list?

The new Mclaren Mercedes I mean, not the gullwing.

edit: thanks btw, and the CSL is great news

they sounded like V8s at last! the 61 hot rod Buick sounds awesome and pulls like a freight train. and yes, the Tamora and /440R are in, too (:

as for the SLR, I dont quite remember, but the mercedes sectionwas huge, so it may be there. the RUF section grows two older cars in respect to the GT3 lineup, and both are damn cool.

Wow Cano, you are so lucky and thanks for the impressions! I especially like your choice of rides, Buick Grand National is one I'm looking forward to.

Are you absolutely positive about the backfires, because this has been a very hot topic as you know. Did it occur on just the race cars, or the mildly tuned ones as well. Maybe your friend can get a picture of that.

377 cars? I think that is more than were offered at TGS. How about tracks? How many? Any comments on those would be interesting too. Were the menu's in Japanese or what? Where in Mexico is this event being held?

yeah, a guy had the XJ220 racer on full load on a straight and then a sharp turn came. the car crashed and when it stoped, the exhaust spitted a gut of fire. it was cooool. Also, the spark shows are spectacular, even more so than in GT3!

and yes, the menus are in japanese, and there is something I forgot: in the "single race mode" you can choose the kind of tires you want to use, but these were in japanese, so it was hard to figure out what were each one.

Also, I played a little with the "photography mode"... basically, you chose a car and position it in a location you want, then tweak the pic so the resulting photo is just like you want it. its cool but all the commands were in japanese, so it was hard to get it going too.

Sweet. Looks like they're paying attention to the little details.. those "little" things often add more to a game than the big "features". Looks like we've got plenty of both now. :)

Sounds like someone had some fun!
Did you use some of the tracks from past GT's?( High Speed Ring, Grand Valley, Trail Mountian)
If so, have the layouts of them changed much?

And how was the AI? Did you race against any?

yeah, I raced in Trial Mountain, Hi-speed ring, grand Valley and Laguna seca. And altough they arent THAT different, you can feel the difference... that, and obviously the different game dynamics catch you offguard sometimes (the first car I tried was the race 427 Vette Stingray at Laguna Seca... boy, no car in GT has EVER spanked me like that one.no brakes at all. but I mean it, you had to brake like 40 meters earlier in roder to stop. it was awful)

the AI is still pretty stupid, but its better than GT3, altough not that much. they are more agressive. The stratos was the Alitalia rally car and the GT40 was the race version, altough I think that a street verion of both is practically a fact.

Mercedes section was huge eh!............makes me very happy! :D

now wheres that damn SLR! :sly:

So no online & the AI still sucks? Can't say I'm suprised but dissapointed, I'd imagine it won't be any better in the full game.

Damn you Cano, your getting me excited about GT4 again, but I still have to wait so long!!

Great report Cano. It's nice to hear some good, new news for change. Yes, as with the Toyota Demo, it handles a lot different than GT3. GT3 seems more arcade-like in comparison. I didn't like it at first, but you get used to it after a while.

I would like to know, what were you using to play the game? The DS2, or the wheel?

Hehe sounds awesome(Sad about the AI)the AI was stupid in Prologue,so i hoped it was fixed in full version(Hope PD fix it before GT4 comes out)but it´s gonna be great fun anyway, sad its still like 5 months away for us in europe.
