subaru had the GT Concept simulator at the LA auto show and everyone with a dollar could play. It only had a rally track and a road track with a choice of three vehicles. The Subaru Legacy GT, a legacy wagon, and the wrx sti rally car. I drove the wrx on the rally track and it was the most exciting game i ever played. I wish i had one. The guy operating it said it costs over 100 grand. :yuck:

Why does it have three srceens :odd:
The left screen show's what you'd see if you looked 45* to the left in a real car. Center screen show's whats ahead of you. Rith show's what you'd see if you looked 45* to the right.
You need 3 ps2's and GT4's to do that though.

Yep, I went to the Chicago Auto Show yesterday and played it (after waiting in line for an hour). It was good, but the movements seemed a little exaggerated. I also got a Subaru hat for my 1:35.39 at Swiss Alps. :)

I also played at Chicago and was the first to actaully finish the course in GT4. I only got a 2:53 second lap, but the first to finish was cool. I got a hat. More if I am still on top at the end of the show.

I tried Midfield Raceway at the JGTC event at California Speedway. Some things seemed wrong with the system: The gimbals made me feel more like I was leaning over (which I was) than experiencing lateral G's. And even though the Legacy I chose was a moderately powered all-wheel-drive, which I was driving conservatively, I still managed to spin the car around (which I had never done before playing GT3), and the car went into a dramatic speed wobble down the second straightaway.

Can someone who went to the Chicago show tell me which tracks were available? As in the names of the track, and not just 'tarmac' and 'rally'?:) I might be going Thursday to the Chicago show, haven't decided yet though. It's a long drive from here.

Is it possible to make a setup like this? With 3 tvs, 3 ps2 and 3 gt4s? I presume they use 4 ps2's, i've seen this system more often, Sega's F355 used it and also needed 4 computers. 1 for each screen and 1 to make m all work together.

played it at the philly auto show, only cause i thought it was a gt4 demo or something but it was really just gt3. the wheel was really loose, no feedback. i hope that isn't how it gets after a lot of abuse

my roommate and i have built our 'ultimate driving simulator' for when gran turismo 4 comes out on feb 22nd. yesterday we went to Best Buy and got ourselves a projector and now we're playing on a 96" (eight foot) display with driving wheel and petals. not too shabby.

i played it for a dollar at the Detroit auto show too. it was awesome. they said it was GT4 Prologue. they also had one for GT3, that moves around and everything! it was so awesome, like one of those NASCAR simulator rides.

damn man sounds impressive. how much did that thing run you guys? your wheel and petals better be dfp. get some pics up of the set up playing another game.

here's a couple pictures right after we set it up, not the best quality but you get the idea. we're able to make the screen 21' big diagonally if we had enough room to extend the projector back, but for now we're playing it at 96" (8 feet)
have pc, ps2, xbox, and digital cable tv all hooked up to the projector.
projector is an InFocus X1A, give or take $1000, we got ours at BestBuy.
the image quality is superb. we're playing it on a basic white wall and so we have to deal with a small amount of gloss and texture, but overall its quite unnoticable.

In Chicago they had both GT4 Prologue and GT Concept. You could play either Tsukuba or Grand Canyon on GT4P and either Midfield or Swiss Alps on Gt Concept. For anyone else who goes, please post your times so i can see what others are achieving.

I was at the show on saturday, and I saw Colin's name on the board, I figured he would be on the forums. I think I saw Alex on there for the GTConcept sim, is he a member here? The woman running it said they cost 30 grand. After waiting an hour, and letting a few people go ahead so I could get into the simulator with Prologue, I played the Legacy GT on Tsukuba. Unfortunatey, they said that MT didnt work on the Prologue Sim, so I had to settle for AT which seemed a bit dodgy. I didn't do so well, as I haven't used a wheel before (getting one soon!!) and the body roll was excessive through corners, so I had a poor sense of speed. But it was amazing anyway. After I got out, I told my friend, "Its sad, GT4 will never be that good, no motion, only one tv...."

What time were you there? At 6:00 p.m. my name (Thomas) was on the board... did someone beat my time? :nervous:

I got in line around 3:30 and played a bit after 4:00 on Saturday, I may have seen your name up, did you set the record for GTConcept? If you set it at 6, then no.
