A BIG THANK YOU to all who participated in either qualifying or the race.

I have noted all of your race write-ups and will compose and post a race write-up ASAP.

Original post:

All right guys, qualifying is over and the race is here. All times are due by midnight U.S. ET. Sunday, May 29.

You can use this thread to discuss your experiences in the race. PLEASE DO NOT POST ANY TIMES.

Race results will be posted Monday, May 30.

Have a great weekend and best of luck to all drivers.

Sounds corny, but I want to say it: DRIVERS, START YOUR ENGINES! :)

Kool! 👍 Started out to do another tyre/trans test this AM & ended up running the whole 60 Laps! Ran a very conservative race..."No Hits / No Errors" That is to say NO Off Track excursions or spins & not enough "AI" contact to require more than a little Touch-Up paint! Cut a "Fast Lap" on #4 & then chased it until #59 beating it by only .042 but had lots that were "Close." VERY enjoyable even w/all the "Lapping" going on...eventually got to where decent times were attainable on BLUE Tyres. "Good Luck" all! 👍 ...O.G. :D

let's not forget this :

* Drivers must PM:
- total race time
- race times at laps 15, 30 and 45 (for the race write-up)
- fastest lap
- their car’s horsepower (keep people honest)
- the type of tire used
- the number of pit stops and the laps pitted (for the race write-up)
A small race report (spins, contact, pit stops, etc.) is also requested. All race times are due by midnight US Eastern Time Sunday, May 29.

Mulsanne you should modify your first post and include this so people remember what to take in note. 👍

Oh and Extase4u2, icemanshooter23 and Catawba Warrior, come on guys and show up at the race. :sly:

Hey guys, sorry I missed qualifying. I've had a rough week and could only get in a few laps one night. I'll be working through the weekend as well so it's not looking good for me making a race. All I can say is I'll try if there's time.
As for qualifying, I managed a 1:42:?? on R1's while setting up the suspension. The stock gearing could use some work, I only changed the auto-level. I could run the section between the hairpins flat out most laps, as long as I kept it off the strips.
I'll try to get a race in sometime tonight, but I honestly don't see that happening, so I'll just say good luck to everyone and thanks for inviting me.

daan
I will run the race.
Whoops. I may have spoken too soon. I've been in hospital for the last 2 days. I'm fine now (for the time being) but will be unable to race this one.

Awfully quiet in here for a race that ends in just over 24 hours! :indiff:

Guess I'll regale you all with my tale of woe. Gave up on my "Unusual" trans settings & resorted to the "Tranny Trick." Time after 15 Laps was within ONE SECOND but I decided to press on anyway. Guess I finally got the hang of the new gearbox as by Lap #30 I was 10 Seconds ahead of schedule. By Lap #45 I was 21 Seconds ahead & at Lap #50 a whopping 24 Seconds. Then on Lap #58 for some unknown reason my DFPro just went "Berzerk" :irked: A VERY common problem w/GT3 but the first time it's happened w/GT4. :trouble: I took a break & a little later fired up the PS2 for another shot. This time the Brake was hanging up even worse than normal so I took it apart & attempted the "Fix" listed elsewhere here at the Planet. Worked great for about 3-4 Laps then went into "Berzerk" mode once more. Logitech sent me a new pedal set some time ago because of the problem but I'd never taken it out of the box. Hooked it up & "Wah-Lah" all my pedal problems disappeared (for NOW!) Too many Laps run at GVR today (nearly 200) so I hope to make one more serious attempt tomorrow.
Good Luck All...O.G. :D

ok i have a question that i hope can be answered quickly. For the time at 15,30,45 laps. are they times at 14/15 then 29/30 then 44/45 or is it the end of lap 15,30,45 which is 15/16 30/31 45/46. hahaha thats it. Ive run a race and had a few wall hits and offs and 1 spin out!!. but they all cost me time, Is that ok?.

200 laps

On my side things are not really going the way I expected. Ran the full race once but my final setup is just very badly reacting to RSH and RH tire set. Shame on me for passing all that time on the qualif with RS  I'll give it some more tuning time tomorrow for a last shot at the enduro.

I think lap 15 means right when you finish lap 14 and you cross the line to start 15, that's the time you take in note. 👍

thanks!. Just gotta find my fastest lap as i forgot to write it down before race ended :dopey: then i will compile the writeup and submit 👍

See you all at the finish line.

I just looked and the replay cuts off at like lap 30 👎 does it matter if i dont know the last 2 digits of my fastest lap. for instance 1'52.3xx that is all i know :grumpy:. Im gonna compile and submit now and if its not legal then oh well. :guilty:

My take on the reporting of lap time is he is looking for total race time at each quarter, so it would be at the end of every 15 laps. Using your examples it would be 15/16, 30/31, 45/46.

Without being able to throw any numbers about, it's pretty difficult to taunt your competitors  First full race was done yesterday morning. I was pretty happy with the results other than 2 spins that cost me ~12 seconds total and the AI that seem to show up at the most inopportune times! Second and final session coming up in a few minutes. 👍

OG, you seem to have the worst luck with your DFP! I must be pretty fortunate that none of those bugs has infected my unit (knocks wood). My grandaughter even uses the pedal set for her personal stair step trainer! :nervous:  Don't forget to transfer the Squash Ball!! 👍

Tire wear in this version is far worse than the previous games, which was pretty bad to begin with. One of my Pet Peeves, wish they'd have done that better! :banghead: I'm curious to find out what the others drivers are doing.

Mulsanne, here's a little question/suggestion for you in case you do want to carry this Enduro thing further. How about adding a time handicap to each drivers total race time based on the starting position? Something very simple such as a quarter or half second per position from the Pole. This would help tie the Qualifying session to the Race and make it more meaningful IMHO.

Another thought just hit me 💡 . To help get some banter going, what do you think of allowing drivers to discuss tires and Pit strategy? I don't think that would let out any secrets or lap/race times ;)

Ok, the coffee has gotten things moving, I gotta go :p :D

damn, well it looks like i will have to run again as i wrote down the wrong times :grumpy: I should be able to go faster this time anyway :D. gonna resubmit.

Resubmitted, improved 35 seconds 👍 and only 3 wallhit/off course compared to lots more last time lol. Nothing major, id say all 3 cost about 1 - 2 seconds all up.

Quite happy with this run, see you guys at the finish line.

You're right Pokie...I finally got tired of the calluses on the top of my left big toe from pulling the brake pedal back up! Quite a distraction I must say. Logitech was very good about sending a new pedal set when I notified them some time ago...guess I shouldn't have waited so long to replace them! :banghead: Probably cost me a run I won't be able to match! :irked: Squash Ball transfered!!!

@ Small_Fryz: Keep bouncing off the walls & "Maybe" I'll be able to stay on the same Lap with you!!!...O.G. :D

All i can say about my race was it was OK.Lap times were pretty consistent staying within 1 sec of each other most of the race. The setup i used was terrible, way too much high speed push.I should have set the rear wing at 60 or less.Tire wear was pretty good until the in lap then the fronts gave up in about 2 turns.

A few offs and one encounter with the outside was at turn 1 (with the help of a Nissan) but nothing too dramatic.

With a bit of luck we can take a one two Iforce 👍, the team boss will be happy :D. Prefereably me in the "one"

I have a feeling Old Geezer isnt as slow as his making out to be, and slowpoke has that GTR sorted :scared:

OK!!! 👍 Finally got in a decent run & only missed the first three Laps of the Indy 500! NO Walls, NO Grass, NO Sand, NO Spins & 99.9% free of "AI" Contact...but most likely NO Pressure on the "Fast Guys" either! :irked: 24 seconds ahead @ Lap #50 over my ill fated attempt posted above & nearly 1 Minute ahead of my only other complete race!
THANX Mulsanne! Lotsa Fun!...O.G. :D

I had only planned on making 2 race attempts, but...........

...I entered the pits for my final stop of the race behind one of the AI, and of course we exited in the same order. He had enough lead on me that I couldn't get around him until after the left heading up the hill towards the second hairpin. I made a clean pass and lined up far left for the turn, easing on the brakes early because of the cold tires. Then WHAM, the SOB punts me out into the Kitty liter so far I needed a crane to dig me out! I lost ~20 seconds on that lap alone, but that race was still 3 seconds faster than my first.

What to do, what to do??

Ok, so some of you know I can't let that much time sit out there!

Race 3 is in the Pm box. I did find in Race 2 that running the revs up to 5900 gave the best performance, something I shoulda found in Qualifying. Had to adjust the gearing a tad for that. That change alone was worth 0.5 seconds per lap. Race 3 had a net improvement of ~47 seconds over Race 1, I'm more than pleased. I'll post my settup tomorrow if anyone would want it.

JB, I ran mine at 50/50 :)

ViperMuncher, every 10 laps 👍

Mulsanne, thanks for hosting this! It's been too long since I've had a good Enduro! :)

50/50 huh,you of the quick reflexes. :)

I intended to do more than one race but maybe im getting old because i developed a bad cramp in my left hand and had to put the DS2 away for the night (and the next few days too).I have no idea what caused this but i can only type with one hand right now so i hope this **** goes away soon.

Anyway 3 stops for me...

Sorry but I've had little time to drive GT4 over the last few weeks. No race time for me I'm afraid. I had run 1/2 way thru one try Friday nite but I had one spin out and one wall hit and didn't go any further. The DFP is a sad wheel compared to the momo and I have little desire to drive. Maybe next race.

Fawk it I'm done :yuck:

I just couldn't find a decent setup to run with RH or RSH tires, ran a clean race but the laps were just too slow. Only on lap 44 I was in difficulties, went right through in the sand pit on the main stretch trying to draft another car and braked to late, then came back on the track to get bumped from behind in the next S curve. Result a nice spin out and a good 15 secs lost on that lap.

Was still a pretty damm fun endurance race, sorry I wasn't more of a competition for you guys. :guilty:

how long till results? I have no idea what US times are. Midnight sunday was 14hours ago for me

Okay, race results are posted on the top of page 1. Thank you again to all who took part.

Here's my tale of woe:

Did my race Sunday afternoon after the Indy 500. I knew I could never match the pace of the front runners, so I was just hoping to run 60 error-free laps, thinking that consistency and clean laps might get me up with the leaders.

Using R2s on all corners, I had planned on doing 5 12-lap stints, with 4 pit stops, like I did when I ran the race the first time. However, the increased pace wore those tires after 10 laps, so I had to adjust from a 4-stop to a 5-stop race (6 10-lap stints). I got about two laps into the race and realized that I had forgotten to change the oil after my last test session. :dunce:

Traffic wasn't too bad, but I'm sorry to say I would have made an arse of myself in RL, barging through lapped traffic. There would have been some seriously angry drivers coming after me.

Here are the basics: (I feel I can post these now since the results have been posted)
#5 Xanavi Nismo Nissan Skyline GT-R 492HP RH/RH

Pit stops: lap 10, 20 (fuel), 30, 40 (fuel), 50

fastest lap: 1:42.612 on lap 27

lap 15: 26'51.2
lap 30: 53'52.1
lap 45: 1:20'33.7

Incidents:
L17: run wide at exit of 1st hairpin, brush wall
L22: run wide at exit of 2nd hairpin, brush wall
L24: into tire wall before 1st tunnel
L28: run wide at exit of left-right-left, brush wall
L29: run wide at exit of left-right-left, brush wall
L50: run wide at exit of 2nd hairpin, brush wall (in-lap)
L51: run wide at exit of 2nd hairpin, brush wall (out-lap)
L55: run wide at exit of left-right-left, brush wall
L58: run wide at exit of left-right-left, brush wall
L60: run wide at exit of 2nd hairpin, miss wall (for once)

So much for a clean, error-free race.

OUCH :ouch: - got owned -

lol new the "z" was fast but did not know the nissan was faster
congrats to the podium finishers 👍

Will you be doing another race like this MULSANNE??

👍 👍 from this one, it was fun to do. :sly:

Geez, even if I had done an error free race I would still be in 6th place! Lapping 1'45 and 1'46 won't get you pretty far. :sly:

Can't wait for the next enduro race and I hope more will join the fun. Congrats Mulsanne for the idea and organization. 👍
