Yes, yes, I know. Everyone posts a thread like this at one time or another, every forum anywhere has at least a dozen, and so forth. I was just noticing how many Brits are on this board (I'm something of an Anglophile), and thought perhaps it was started over on the right side of the pond. But then I noticed in another thread that Jordan, one of the co-owner/operators of GTP is from Kentucky. So I thought I would put up a poll and see. I'm from the US myself, living in Albuquerque, New Mexico right now, though I've lived in 8 states throughout my life. Yeah, the poll is English-speaking-centric, apologies for lumping the rest of the world under "other" :sly:

I'm from whitstable, kent, uk, which is near canterbury. Don't tell me you havent heard of the archbishop of canterbury?:lol:

How come you've got England and Ireland but not Scotland or Wales?

england-united kingdom and ireland-republic of ireland

Yes, that's it exactly. I was thinking of putting in Scotland and Wales, but then should I put in all the provinces and states? That's a lot. Maybe just "US-East, US-South, US-Southwest, US-Central, US-West" or something like that? Too complicated. I was thinking that if people wanted they could post where exactly they were from. Didn't mean to snub the Scots or the Welsh at all. :)

Haha, I'm from London.

And that is a great way to p!ss off a Welshman or Scotsman. They hate it :lol:

The Northern Irish don't seem to mind though! :rolleyes:

You mean Englishmen, Englishmen and Englishmen?

full_wick - England is a country. Scotland is a country. Wales is... well... a Principality, but they THINK they're a country. US-East is NOT a country.

Argh! I should have know I was going to upset the Welsh and Scots by lumping them in with England. Mea Culpa! :guilty: Hey wait! I'm a dumb American! I should be proud that I even know the names of places outside America! ;)

Right, US-East is not a country, (though it should be culturally, the US could be split up six ways and be much better off IMHO) but I'm not going to list all 50 states. Scotland is it's own country? I thought it was like Wales, principality of Great Britain (which is what I SHOULD have put...) Gah, dumb American.

Well you did. In the biggest possible way.

England = England
Scotland = Scotland
Wales = Wales
Northern Ireland = Northern Ireland
Great Britain = England, Scotland & Wales
United Kingdom = England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland
British Isles = England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland & the Republic of Ireland

Well, a State isn't a country either...

And there's only 46 States, technically... :D

:) Nothing personal. I just get annoyed when us Scots are referred to as English. (Nothing meant against my English friends there :scared: )

here, dont get so angry. he said england but i realised that he meant united kingdom. so i pointed it out in my post when you asked about scots etc. [england-united kingdom]. thats all. we didnt want to offend anyone, he just used inappropriate name which i clarified, and he agreed with me. as you do above: 'United Kingdom = England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland'

I'm from the Democraticly-Elected People's Republic of Post! Our ruler's on vacation, so no laws apply.

This Poll is so overly singleminded I refuse to answer.....

Yes, yes, I explained that at the beginning. I'm an American. We're singleminded and crass and we think we don't need to know anything about the rest of the world because, well, it's not American you see, and therefore it can't be very good. And if they don't speak english there, well, you can just forget about it because we can't be bothered learning foreign languages. But you just have to love us anyway.

Seriously. You have to love us.

We have big guns and lots of bombs and if you don't love us well, let us just say we can get a little itchy on the old trigger finger if you know what I mean.

Born Monaco...
Moved to Oklahoma, then to Texas.

Been to England, California, Florida, Michigan, Indiana, New York, Nevada, and Germany. And of course France.

How do you know about our opinion on the world countries, you don't live here.

I think that the guestmap is interesting. I live in Wisconsin, as you all can read on my location.
