Actually pitting may have answered this question as well.

Please take the time to read the FAQs when you get a chance...alot of stuff similar to this is covered.

And why would you even need to use that much NOS? If you need it to win you need some practice behind the DS2.

Haven't you ever noticed the big fuel bar at the top of the screen refilling when you pit? And no, NOS doesn't get refilled.

N2O --> Laughing gas, cheap power boost
NO2 --> smog precurser, and leads to death if inhaled

Fun with chemistry :) (Be sure to not get them confused!!)

No. However, don't worry about the oil. I did the entire PD Cup and didn't have to change the oil. However, you can do this after the end of each race.

Finally someone writes N2O instead of N20.

close topic?

actually nitrous oxide is NxO with x can be a few numbers. and yes NOS is a brand name but it is used like "Kleenex" both are brand names, but no-one cares.

And it doesn't hurt the fact that Nitrous Oxide if you were to abbr. the long name sounds like NOS (ya know NitrousOxSide) - bah, eh, ;) 👍

NOS stands for Nitrous Oxide Systems, the name of a company whose adopted abbreviation is NOS - they are major market leaders for nitrous oxide injection equipment. Don't confuse NOS with NOX (which is NOx badly typed)... and as someone mentioned earlier, is can be a mixture of NxO or NOx (but not NO2).

But it doesn't do anything. I stuck it in a Supra and later in Godzilla and ran it repeatedly over the Las Begas Drag Strip. I tried a few ways to try and get the maximum out of it (ie holding R1 down the whole way and when I only changed gears) and ran a few non-NOS runs as control. When I averaged the times out (five runs each) the gain was so slight that it's barely noteworthy, and certainly not worth the 5000 credits ...

To Do You Race - Turn the N2O up to full power instead of duration.

One of the things I hate about this forum, is you never end posts. When a question is answered, you just keep going on and on and on. The question was answered in the first reply.

Then you just keep adding to it. Just everyone LEAVE the thread now until it is closed. You make posts out of things that are so picky. So what if he calls it NOS and that is not fully correct.

I always say Hoover, even though I own a Dyson, whereby it isn't a hoover, it is a Dyson Vacuum Cleaner.

SO STOP POSTING ****.

Wierd, I can't find "Moderator" under your name.

I was simply pointing out a common fallacy that makes people look as though The Fast and The Furious taught them about racing.

Have a prozac.

So thats implying that you have other things that you hate about this forum? I have one myself, new members who think they run the

Forums are for discussion of a topic. The topic here is nitrous oxide or NOS as most people commonly refer to it.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the people who work at Zex, Nitrous Express, and other nitrous companies care quite a bit that people refer to nitrous as "NOS", and so do I, thank you very much.

rovens
IN GT4 they call it NOS so i guess they got a brand lisence.
Um, I haven't seen "NOS" anywhere in the game. They call it "nitrous", which is what it is. Unlike NFS and Midnight Club, they're not going to get the license for "NOS" just because people are too lazy to call it by its real name.

I knew what it stood for, just though it was cool that it also sounds like an abbreviation of the chemical compound was all...

And in my GT4 Book from Prima games they have a picture of an N2O system from NOS, the company, thought I'd seen it in the game, but only in the book - so someone, somewhere got some money for that picture ;)
