Looks awfully good, doesn't it? :

King Kong trailer

With Peter Jackson directing, that strong cast, and what appears to be an unlimited special effects budget, I'd say its a can't-miss. I like the way they set it in the thirties, like the awesome 1933 original movie.

Yes, this movie looks quite interesting. The special effects look brilliant already.

My Mum is a big fan of the older movies, and she likes the look of this.

I didn't know anything about Peter Jackson before the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Now that I've seen what he is capable of, I think this movie is guranteed to be a very special film. :)

Looks fantastic. I have special feelings for King Kong. It was the, seen as horrible by critics, but I loved it, 1976 version of King Kong that I first saw when I was six or seven years old. I cried when King Kong died. I still remember the sad feelings I had as I walked out of the theater, as my dad tried to console me, with tears running down my face. People pointing at me, saying, "He's not real." Yeah, that helps.

I remember getting all the King Kong folders, binders and note pads I could for school. My boys and I just got done watching this same move only a few hours ago. Funny how this stuff works out like this, eh?

Edit: I found the pic used on my school binder. Cool!

Not only the movie is expected to be awesome, but its own game as well. Jackson is also co writing the game King Kong with reviewers saying that King Kong could be the best film to game.

The best thing about the 1976 version was Jessica Lange.

If you haven't seen the unbelievably good original 1933 version, you really should consider getting this when they release it next month:

At last, its on DVD!

As you watch it, keep reminding yourself that it was released 72 years ago. It was a miraculous achievement. Scroll down that Amazon page and read the reviews. Apparently Peter Jackson is responsible for a lot of what is on the second disk.

You'll also learn why Fay Wray is known as the original Scream Queen!

Holy crap. I just bothered to watch the trailer and it has Naomi Watts, Jack Black and Adrien Brody in it. 👍 SFX wasn't mindblowing, but I hope it's good in the manhattan scene.

I totally agree, it's a old film sure, but it's a great film still. And Fay can scream, oh yes, was a kind of turn on for......... Crap I'm thinking with me fingers again.

Hmmm....looks better then I expected. I'm glad it's placed back in the day a little bit. I'm not going to see it in themovies, but maybe a matinee.

I'm watching the 1976 version, right now. I never found Jessica Lange attractive before, but I fully understand her success now. It makes me fall a sleep when there is a 50 foot ape running around, but when Jessica Lange comes into the scene, wakes me right up. In the new version, Naomi Watts is guranteed not to match the hotness of Jessica Lange. Guranteed.

Another completely unnecessary remake. Granted the special effects look great and in the hands of Peter Jackson how could this be anything but stunning. But…..

WHY??????

The original is still a stunning film. Why on Earth does Hollywood feel the need to keep remaking classics. Are there really no new ideas left in tinsel-town????

Do yourself a favor and get hold of the original… Oh and burn that God awful ‘76 version :(

This is what irks me about computers. In order to watch this trailer, I have to download iTunes. Something of which I have no use for.

I can't recall ever having watched a King Kong film before, so this one will not be comparable to previous movies for me. I'll get the narrow scope of just this film and be able to judge it solely on its merits and not hold it up to a previously formed opinion.

Something I wish movie critics could/would do.

Excellent advice, although you should watch the '76 version once just to see 19-year-old Jessica Lange...

King Kong Movies used be the best saturday afternoon entertainment on TV, King Kong VS Godzilla, and all of the other weird over sized monsters...good times!

I also wanted to plug a great site www.jabootu.com that reviews the absolute worst films ever made. Check out their review of King Kong Lives :)

You probably never heard of this sequal to the '76 film that explained that Kong actually survived falling off the world trade center thanks to a heart transplant (I kid you not)

Linda Hamilton showing why she never got another good film offer after 'Terminator'

Fay Wray's screams from King Kong are still used in movies today.

This creates an interesting production question for the new King Kong. Will Peter Jackson still use Fay Wray's scream or will he let Naomi Watts scream for herself?

If you're a true Kongophile, you'll like this site:

Scroll down a little and download the "TV Watch: Watts on 'Jay Leno' Clip". If you're desperately in love with her, like I am (Don't tell my wife!), that will be treat enough, but near the end there's a clip of the fight with the three Tyrannosaurs (although the quality is marginal).

Scroll down farther and download the "4 minutes of Kong Online" clip and you'll see that they've absolutely nailed the big guy for realism. This is no "Hulk" disaster, folks. The CG on our hero is phenomenal. The interaction between him and Ann is totally believable.
