Gran Turismo PS3 Theme!

Hey there folks, I am currently working on a complete Gran Turismo Theme for the PS3 (New update, woot!)

My basic idea is to make the XMB icons similar to the GT5:P Demo interface but i've been googling a bit but i can't get a proper picture of the interface, could someone with a good digicam take a photo of his game interface please?

There is the TV icon usable and the little wheel for game (at least that was my idea) and make the rest with the same "outline" style GT5P uses.

Promise you it's not going to be a half assed theme i'm going to spend a large amount of time on it to make it as polished as it can be!

Oh and if you guys could direct me to a proper vector gtplanet.net logo (like the top left one) if not I'll just have to remake it I guess!

I was hoping there would be a GT5 theme eventually.

I think, just need to test the PSP theme creator and see how things work out (I don't own a PSP)
 
Which one do you guys prefer? (default GT5P looks a bit weird alone but well i think i should just test it out with the rest of the XMB to see if it's any good)

Left (GT5P) or Right(GT5P with orb around) :o
 
if all the icons will have orbs then the orb looks better, if you won't be using orbs on other icons then skip it for this one.

I much prefer the Orb... it gives it a 3-D look, like it's a button you press. 👍
 
Ok, i've done a bit more but i'm going to sleep now and continue this tomorrow, post feedback and ideas if you have any!

Where does one acquire a theme creator? I'm moderately inclined to graphics work myself. :)

You know, when I was thinking about custom themes today, I was thinking about the big, hyped upcoming games to create themes for.. Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, etc. For some reason, it never popped into my head to make a GT theme. I think I'm losing my mind or something.
 
Great stuff so far alba :)👍 So glad someones making a GT5 theme! Are you going to have the icon orbs enlarge when you hover onto them or are you going to also incorporate the GT pointer graphic?... either would look quite cool.

I really like the generic theme you also did.

Where is the software you need to do this? Is it as simple as using photoshop and importing them into the program?

I was thinking this could be the Official GTPlanet Gran Turismo XMB theme!!
 
well the hover effect will work as it's just the XMB zooming the actual picture (plus the image is a png so it rescale quite well)

and yes it's easy just some basic XML and photoshop knowledge and you're ready to go!


here's my update (some icons are good some arent, if you got some ideas to improve it or ideas for which icons should be associed to what, you tell me!)

oh and yes, i'm remaking the cursor icon so it works in the PStore (need to remake the hands and so on in the same style)

Excellent! You really did a great job with those new icons to match the look of the GT5 icons, especially the "Photo" icon. 👍

I can't wait to add this theme to my PS3.

BTW: I also really like your "generic" theme you showed in your first post. I hope you'll let us download that theme as well. 👍
 
Updated the picture with the "Friends" icon aswell and to answer your question, yes... i'll make both available :)

It's just a question of making every single XMB icons and once that's done it's just one background, cursors and just compiling, it's just the icons work that takes a looot of time :D

Looking great.

BTW: I noticed the icons for "Settings", "Music", and "Friends" have a black fill, while the rest are grey. Personally, I prefer the black, but either way, I think the icons would look better if thay all had the same fill color/shade.

Well, my idea is to make a kickass black'ish background with a car (or like make a few separate wallpapers of a few cars all black and white with maybe just the car in colors or something and a GTPlanet logo and a GT one :)

My aim is that it looks awesome on that and aswell look awesome when you just use the icons and the original wavey xmb with black colors :)

But all of that is set in the theme so, no need to config everything, which is great! (I'm going to post some more icons soon i'm working on the sub section with settings and so on :)
