Gran Turismo PS3 Theme!

Wow, looking fantastic! My only criticism is with the pixellated world map. Up close it looks OK, but from a distance it loses it's integrity and just looks like a female alien dancer wearing a dress! :lol: I'd reduce the dot size a bit and try to get a bit more definition in the world map.

These accounts icons - are these what you can use in place of the existing pre-defined set of "avatars" available, or are they used elsewhere? I think it would be great to creat an icon for "Hong Kong" as well.

I also really like the background attached. Anything along these lines will be awesome, but it's not great with white text. Can you change the text colour on the XMB?

well i liked that background but i want to make something different this time and i'm really having a hard time because i really want it to be perfect so i'm taking time to make sure it's perfect :)

and i'm making the text with more reflects and shadows and lights this time, won't be flat white ;)
 
alba are the reflections in the pic above going to be incorporated into the theme, because i really like the look, but im sure the file size (physical on screen) will be smaller?

Thanks alba, you don't mess about do you?! Can't wait to see finished product!

When I mentioned the text, I meant the actual text used in the menu of the XMB itself. Can that be something other than white with drop shadow? I've not really looked into Themes too much, so excuse the noob questions!
 
Ahh that, well no... not yet at least.

I wish I could use a custom font and custom colors and so on but for now it's not possible so i'll just wait for firmware updates to make it better then ;)

Yes, but more subtle, i'm trying to be something classic with some start of wavey effect like the default XMB and some lights and so
I'm really stuck at the moment because i'm trying lots of thing but it's not good enough for my taste :D

EDIT: if you're talking about the XMB icons reflections then the answer is yes :P (gosh i'm sleepy)

If anybody is wondering why I have an Australian account it's because Sony are testing their music download service there so you can download some music videos free of charge!

It's mainly Australian artists that you may never have heard of but it is free!:p

Anyway, I absolutely cannot wait for this theme! It's 1000 times nicer looking than the default PS3 theme.

One thing, I notice you are trying to incorporate the GTPlanet logo. I just want to make sure you have Jordan's permission. I'm pretty sure that if he cared something would have been said by now, but I thought that just as a precaution you may want to do that, if you haven't already.

so what I see when I click on the links in your posts are just the back rounds? if I how do I see what the icons look like all laid out?
 
look at the previous pages, i'll have some more updates on the icons in a sec, i'm almost done with everything and then i just have to make the background perfect :)

I'm currently working on preview video images and music and games and then i just have the messages box icons and some flash drive ones... 10icons left to do and i'm done with them all and i can finish the background and i'm done... woot!

EDIT: 5icons left to do :P

EDIT2: All the icons are now done and tweaked, I just have the background left to finish :):)

Your first image is MUCH better. I wouldn't use the GTR to represent the game either, although I like the red "aura". Getting Ferrari into GT5 is a landmark for the series, so I really would focus on that, like the first image. Keep the car white/silver/grey, whatever, and use the red "aura" around the car to pay respect to the most traditional colour for a Ferrari. Just bear in mind that anything white/pale in the background is going to make it difficult to read the XMB text, and I absolutely HATE it when people use "XMB overlays" on their pictures so you can read the text and see the icons better. That's just poor design! A well designed background should fit the theme while not obscuring the XMB functionality in any way.

Just one really stupid question... Those country/account icons. How on Earth do you use them in the XMB?! :O
 
Is it possible to change the icons and the background without installing the 2.0 update?

That's my opinion aswell, i can't stop those big red bars or whatever it is, it just makes the whole thing looks like crap :P (i found an awesome ferrari picture by the way, working on that :)

Just push triangle on the account you're currently logged in, then put the bright overlay on the "little picture" push X and then select the a custom one from your image folder and then go back and login in your other accounts and do the same :)

Awesome, thanks alba! Can't wait to see the finished article! Using Ferrari is definitely the way to go, ideally an F430, but I'm not too fussy :) Maybe over time you could come up with a design theme for the background and make up several different ones to represent landmark additions to the series. Keep up the great work - such a pleasure to see somebody take real pride in what they are doing.

I need a member with a good digicam and a 1080p HDTV to test this theme on it and make a few pictures so i can fix a proper preview picture and test it a bit to see if everything is working properly.

PM ME to get my msn, hurry! :P

I'm doing the package at the moment i just have to test out the background now with someone with a 1080p tv so... come on! I NEED YOU GUYS :D
