Holy schnitzel that's hot stuff. This is what I've had doodling all over my sketchbooks for years, but real. I'm a fan already. In fact, from those two shots alone it's closing in on the Zonda as my number one desirable machine of any kind. I can't wait for the full unveiling.

Why do all current British cars - particularly Astons - look the same? You can't tell the Astonm line apart without a scorecard, and there's a Jag tha looks just like them, and this thing looks like a worked-over Evora.

It's time to branch out a little, folks.

Within Aston Martin, at least, I don't think it really matters if they all look the same. It's an Aston Martin, and apparently that's all us little people need to know.
 
They all share the same design principals but I can tell each model from each other at a glance. There's big enough clues on the front, sides and rear of the cars to identify them from one another but if you didn't know what to look for it could be difficult. I can in a way understand Dukes comment though I dissagree that this looks anything like the Evora, but the US isn't subjected to a lot of British sports cars, so when they get the Astons and then they get the new Jag XK which does have similar lines I can see where he's coming from. But then we have a lot of sports cars that don't look like an Aston or XK that the US probably doesn't get.

One graphic overlapping another. It's been done before with other elements, just get used to it.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the front of the car. How in the world was a brand like Aston Martin able to create that as a front of a car?!

They already did that with the DB9. This is more of a meh design.
 
I'm wondering when we'll be able to see the real production deal...
 
Maybe when the economy starts to improve ;).
 
$2,000,000 supercars are generally above this kind of situation... Rolls is selling far more cars this year than last.
 
The economy killed the XJ220 so I wouldn't dismiss it too easilly, though I was only joking. I don't think that the current situation alone will have a bearing on the cars production launch.
 
I'm more interested in how much power this puppy is supposed to be making. From one of the car vids on Youtube, the rep for A.M. was quoting that the car would be making in the region of 800-1000hp!! They don't want to give a final figure yet. That's 1/2 the reason why this is supposed to be so expensive apparantly.

When I first saw it I was thinking, "Can't they design another bodyshape?" They all look the same, the DB9, newer Vantage, Vanquish and now this!!

It at least looks way different from the DB9...I have to see the finalized design, and not the design study, before passing final judgement. this concept version looks very, very clay-modelly.

Thats the thing, as an Aston Martin fan, I should be all over it... But to some extent, I'm almost repulsed. It just isn't, well, "right."

Me likey! Looks very racey somehow.
 
It's largely only due to the splits down the front fenders that wreck the front end of the vehicle, remove them and it would look far more elegant like an Aston Martin should be.

Well that kinda says it all. :indiff: The car does looks good in a way, but there is still that certain "something" that still says it was a DB9 with a redesign from Zagato.......

Perhaps this is the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back, i.e for a long time I've accepted the AM 'look' throughout the range, but this was supposed to be different...


... yet all I'm saying is a DB9 with a fat front end, and SLR side and a rear that does look good, but in concept is little different to what half the chavs do to their chav-mobiles.
 
I think it looks great from every angle but the front. I really don't like thoes vents that break into the lights, if they were just not there then it would look a whole lot better.

One thing the photos do not make clear is the size of this thing. It's a big ol' beastie.

daan asked about 'hand-built'. Well, all Astons are hand assembled, but it's a case of how. Vantage and Nine are assembled on lines, with roughly 12 to 35 minutes of work in every station. One-77 would be assembled in cells, with no dependancy between cars. This is important because of the level of customisation required. Very little of the One-77 (if anything) will be subassembled or prepared offsite from Gaydon. Very little of the interior trim theme will be set as a 'standard'. If the customer wants tan aniline leather with quilting stitch pattern, then that's what they'll get. Ultimately, if the customer wants a custom gun rack for a set of Perdys, a fridge for Bollinger, or a PS3 in the dash, then they'll get it.
