I can’t wait until I’m in the market for a VR. To those that have, and use their VR sets, how magnificent is the difference?
The difference in visual fidelity cannot be call "magnificent". It's not as good as 4K, much better than 1080P. To be brutal, I'm not one to use as an authority on the quality of differences in any event. I pre-ordered the VR2 and started using it on release and haven't driven more than a few meters without it on my face since. Flat screen is just so, well, flat. You want 3 dimensions? VR is where you'll get it. I feel the car's dimensions better, I sense where other cars are in relation to mine better, I can look for exits, when I remember to look for them
@Marcus Garvey , way way better. Can't see car in any of my mirrors? Turn my head left or right to find it, if I haven't already looked at the close up radar to find it.
It's just an overall better experience than 2D. Imagine, instead of the 55°, or so, FOV of peripheral visual input in pancake mode, VR gives 110° FOV or so, and the ability to rotate that 110° FOV 360°, without having to remember which button to use. You can literally turn around and look out the back window of whatever car you're driving, with a few exceptions that have no interior and you drive in VR with your head sticking out the roof, which is a little weird but workable.
Combine VR with a decent wheel & pedal set, sequential and/or H-Gate shifter, a little tactile installation, the only thing left is smell and physical g-forces to make it any more real. The price per hour of entertainment goes down every second you use it.

My PS5Pro HDMI is routed through a fairly old Onkyo receiver, which I don't think natively supports 4K or HDR, from there it hits an extractor that splits signal to my buttkicker amp and then hits my TV. I don't think I'm getting the full monty of visuals on my Samsung 43Q60C I picked up about a year ago. Which is one of the reasons I said I'm not an authority on the visual differences. At any rate, my settings on the PS5 and in game are below.
