I'd like to join and have filled out an application
@SniperRed3,
Thanks for your interest!
We would love to have you in the league. Here's what you need to know and do in order to join:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the S.N.A.I.L. OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide.
Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You take the S.N.A.I.L. OLR and Racecraft Test

2. You run the Time Trial and submit your information by 23:59 EST on Saturday night if you want to race this Sunday.

3. @JLBowler PM's you with your assigned Division that we feel will give you the closest competition. You will be added to the drivers list.

4. The Race Director or Primary Host from the corresponding SNAIL Division will send you a PSN friend request. Sunday night you will need to sort the online lobbies by friends and join the lobby named 'snailracing.org Division_(x) based off your Division placement from JLBowler. That lobby will be where you race Sunday.

5. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

The original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread.

If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.
To avoid duplication, the currently claimed combinations can be found here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.

Welcome to S.N.A.I.L.

I hate when pics get uploaded to GTP and they are either sideways or upside down. It's a bug in the site's software, so not your fault, it will be fixed in the next update.

And keep jokes about updating to yourself, this isn't Gran Turismo.

Mr. Williams,
Why dont you help a fellow Snail instead?

Complaining dont make it any better!

So I thought of something just for fun. I want to do a monthly event if I may. Let's just call it Speer's Truck Love Challenge. Today at 2:00est I want anyone who is interested in a quick race to join. Here's what you have to do...

Purchase the Ford SVT F-150 Lightening '03
Put on Sports Hard Tires
Make sure to keep it spec as the same rules will apply as S.N.A.I.L.
Come to the room when I post the room number and just race as you would any other S.N.A.I.L. event and just have fun.

Today I close Autodroma for the first race. A 10 lap race (just cause that's a nice number I chose) in the trucks. I just want to see how this works. Perhaps I'll keep a monthly point standings and we can do it for four or five months.

The winner will recieve an awesome right to just say they won. All I want this to be is a good time and just show dome truck love as it isn't seen often.

All are welcome until the race starts or we get a room of 16.

Hope to see some of you there!

The Polyphony Digital Gran Turismo 6 Replay Lottery appears to have turned off the lights and shut it's doors. Thankfully.

Below are the results of the 29 incidents the stewards reviewed.

These results can be viewed on the SNAIL Steward Review Sheet.

Thanks to JLBowler, Neovre and tezgm99 for their reviews this week
Don't forget to claim your $hells for completing reviews.

These changes affect the final standings.
Full final results can be found here. @zer05ive & @kcheeb, these adjustments have been made in the director's and results sheets.
***If you were penalized and would like further explanation regarding the incident, PM your Division Steward and they will let you know what the stewards saw and our opinions on it.***

Points of Interest

This week S.N.A.I.L. will be running at Ascari Race Resort, Cape Ring, and Spa Francorchamps. Ascari is making it's second straight appearance in S.N.A.I.L., Cape Ring is making it's GT6 S.N.A.I.L. debut, and Spa Francorchamps is making it's fourth straight appearance. Without further ado, here are your points of interest for this week.

Ascari Race Resort
ascari_map.gif
The Ascari Race Resort offers an impressive closed circuit where you can enjoy the speed in its purest form, without limits but always with a maximum safety. With 26 corners (13 left hand and 13 right hand corners) and incredible cambers and slopes, the Ascari circuit proud to be the longest track in Spain thanks to its length of 5,425 meters ,with the possibility to divide into three different sections or combinations.

The circuit is built with the highest quality, with a width of 12,2 meters throughout the whole length, the asphalt pavement gives a perfect balance between grip and tire wear as well as being an excellent drainage.

The above was taken from the Ascari Race Resort web page. Being that the track is a private resort and specializes in renting cars to customers or allowing them to drive their own cars on the track, they don't host actual races so the things we are used to seeing in a race track are not always present. The most glaring example would be that there are no proper rumble strips at Ascari. With this in mind, the track boundaries are a little different here. The white line serves as the boundary with the only exceptions coming at the chicanes on the track that have the wide areas of painted concrete. They will be shown in the photos below. The painted mounds at the edge of the track are NOT rumble strips and are NOT part of the track at any place on the track.

Two shots from the first chicane. You may use the painted areas as track but you must not put any part of any tire on the grass.

Two shots from the second chicane. It's the same as the first. You may use the painted area as track but you must not put a tire on the grass.

If it looks like this then the white line is the boundary. You must have two tires on or inside the white line.

Cape Ring
Cape Ring is a track created by PD for use in the Gran Turismo series. It made it's debut in GT5 and has multiple layouts. We will be using the full version of the track with 28 turns and over four miles in length.

The boundaries are fairly easy to understand here. The red/white or blue/white rumble strips are part of the track in all instances. There are some painted areas that are not considered part of the track and they will be shown in the photos below.

Taken from turn one. The outside of the turn that is painted blue with white stripes is NOT part of the track.

Q2tjL2V.jpg

This picture taken of the "toilet bowl" shows the red painted pavement on the inside and outside of the turn. This red area is NOT part of the track from the entry of the corner to the exit of the corner.

KX13WzP.jpg

The last photo is taken at the exit of the last turn. The blue area to the left is NOT part of the track. Any other similar area where another layout joins the main track and is painted is also NOT part of the track.

i45RiLP.jpg

Spa Francorchamps
spa-francorchamps.jpg
Spa Francorchamps was originally opened for business in August of 1921. The first scheduled race did not take place because there was only one entrant for the event. The first race held at Spa was a motorcycle race in 1922. The first 24hr race would be held in 1924. The original course was a 14km layout that featured long straights and was built to be one of the fastest tracks in Europe. Formula One would run on the 14 km layout until 1970 when the series cited safety and security reasons with the track. Modifications were made and the current layout was introduced in 1979 and Formula One would return to the track. Numerous run off areas were added to the track and the distance shortened by removing some of the long straights.
The track boundaries at Spa are not difficult to understand but can be difficult to follow. In all situations, the red/white rumble strips are part of the track but anything located behind them is not.

Exit of turn one. The red/white rumble strips are part of the track. The solid white line next to the strips is NOT part of the track and everything to the left of that line is NOT part of the track. If you find yourself out here, you must lift off the throttle and track re-entry rules do apply to you.

a0uG9Yi.jpg

The next three photos are taken from Eau Rouge. In all of the photos, the red/white rumble strips are part of the track. The solid black and everything to the left of it in photo 1 are NOT track. The solid white line to the left of the strips in the second photo and everything left of it are NOT part of the track. In the third photo, the solid black line and everything to the right of it is NOT part of the track. Once the red/white strips end, the white line is the edge of the track. If you find yourself OB, you need to lift off the throttle to avoid a penalty from the stewards and normal track re-entry rules will apply to you.

This photo shows the end of the rumble strips where the white line becomes the track boundary. Any area to the right of the white line past the end of the red/white strips is considered to be out of bounds.

zHQeQ6D.jpg

This is turn 5 and the photo serves as an example for the entire track. It shows the red/white rumble strips as part of the track and the grass to the right of it is NOT part of the track.

S4JRZJI.jpg

Turn 6 shown here. The red/white strips are part of the track. The green area and the paved area on the left of the green area are not part of the track. If you find yourself here, you will need to slow down to negate any advantage you may have gained and wait to re-enter the track until you can do so without affecting any other driver.

zGX3UJ3.jpg

This is a section of track between turn 6 and turn 7. The white line serves as the track boundary here on the left side of the track where it connects the two sets of rumble strips.

O9tNZYl.jpg

This is the inside of turn 7 and the photo serves as an example for the rest of the track. The red/white rumble strips are part of the track. The brownish area directly to the right of the strips is NOT considered part of the track.

psMjiNn.jpg

Here is the exit of turn 7. Once again, we have the red/white strips as part of the track but the green area to the left of it is NOT part of the track. Once the rumble strips end, the white line is the track boundary. The different color paving at the end of the rumble strips is NOT part of the track.

89vdEVK.jpg

This is the outside of Pouhon or turn 10 and 11. The red/white strips are part of the track. The green area and everything to the right of the green are NOT part of the track. If you end up here, you will need to slow down to negate any advantage gained and return to the proper racing surface without affecting any other driver.

mJLD5z5.jpg

This is the exit of turn 17. As is the case everywhere else on the track, the red/white rumble strips are part of the track but the green area to the right is NOT part of the track. Once the red/white strips end, the white line becomes the boundary and the green area is still NOT part of the track.

n06lGbW.jpg

This is an overview of the final chicane. The entrance is at the bottom of the photo. The green area approaching the turn is NOT part of the track. You can't drive out there to improve your entry angle to the right hander. The red/white strips are part of the track throughout this section. Any green pavement, including the exit of the section (not pictured) is NOT part of the track.

Getting an event going on any day is hard, getting one going on a Sunday, forget about it. Everyone who is on on a Sunday is only on to practice. Oddly, it seems Tues, Wed and Thur are the best days to get people racing. Which is why they all had or have events going on those days.

Wow. All that stuff I was saying about the Integra feeling like it shouldn't have racing tires on it and the suspension feeling to soft, it turns out I was driving the Integra without the "touring car" part in it's name... :dunce:
After practicing with that thing all week this touring car feels incredible! I'm going fast!!!

Looks like Skills is sending out the Sunday Divisional Announcements as I type this.

All rounds tonight will be 4 laps and 6 minute qualifying sessions.

So I know there's a lot of NASCAR fans here so I thought it would be fun to make a SNAIL racing fantasy NASCAR group. Just go to http://msn.foxsports.com/fantasy/auto/ and sign up (its free) and create your account. After you created that search for groups to join and type in Team SNAIL. It will ask you for your password and the password is snailorg. After that pick your team and your good to go. Let's see what kind d of interest we get from this.

It goes by segments so its never to late to join. Hope to see ya there.

Here are the SNAIL's key to Victory

Have a good looking paint scheme!

Having a unique color scheme in your division allows other racer's to quickly recognize you.

Keep it nice and steady at the Chicanes.

Being over aggressive at the Chicanes would most likely won't yield any good outcomes.

Avoid Lag!

Lag and ghosting can severely influence race outcomes. Clear your GT6 network cache, reboot your modem/router and hard link your PS3 if possible.

Rumble Strips at Cape Ring

Just like in Spa, the rumble strips at Cape Ring can be very slick and with this powerful Alfa can make you spin in the blink of an eye.

Avoiding First Lap Chaos

Survive the 1st turn hair pin and the following esses by keeping nice and steady with cold tires; do not throttle up harshly and keep your line to avoid contact.

Turns 15, 16 & 17 around the inside pits
There turns are frequent scenes of racer overshooting the entrance speed and/or throttling up too quickly. Maintain your entrance speed and light throttle to avoid overshooting.

The infamous Jump
Keeping the tires totally straight and lifting up the throttle right before the jump will allow the car to land on its fours and avoid any spin ups.

See point number 1 above

Spa's Eau Rouge
Drive the Renault as hard as you abilities allow you to do without losing control. Push it too hard and most likely you will overshoot or spin out of control from the rumble strips lack of grip.

Pouhon
Frequent overshoot's happen at Pouhon, correct breaking point and entry speed will allow you to make a fast run here. But if you overshoot it, be aware of close cars following and re-enter the track when it is safe to do so. If you were drafting close behind, you'll need to either get out of the draft before the turn or brake a lot earlier than your normal breaking point.

Keep your line
...so you set up for the pass and attack the inside of your opponent, but you ran out of track and the next curve is a tight one; it is both racer's responsibility to keep your lines. The outside car needs to give enough room to the inside car to make a proper turn...

...vice-versa, the inside car cannot shoot to the outside coming off the curve as that is where the outside car will be.

Wait to sign autograph's at the end of the race
Here's Floyd looking for Britney!

Respect car's in front of you

and you will get's the racer's respect. Here's @dgaf95integra and @K1utch battleting out at Ascari during practice, 3 perfect laps within inches from each other without incident.

Are they? My fault. I went rooting through for pictures the other night and must have just midread the one post. Fixed!
