It's Wednesday and you haven't made your prize selections yet. You guys need to get to that or you're going to lose your prizes to the nomination process. You both have until 9:30 ET tonight to make a pick or the process will begin.

MarkR420 has prize A so he needs to pick a new combo. Ricky Wilson needs to pick a track for the Caterham.
 
I have made my selection. Thanks to @ONESPACE @TomMang_68 @USERID_77a23 @jnmjeeper and @Inconspicuous for helping me test last night. I am expecting very tight racing with this choice.

Nice! I remember testing there when I almost had Prize A and it's a lot of fun. The Reverse layouts of Grand Valley, Trial Mountain, and Deep Forest are way more fun than the forwards. It's like learning a whole new track all over again!

I love me some Monty Python. They're releasing a 40th Anniversary Edition of The Holy Grail. I have the first Blu-Ray release and that has a lot of nice extras on there.

I suppose that's a cute funny bit from a comedic standpoint, but I'd venture to guess that's much more tongue and cheek.

My soapbox:

There's good reason we have two parties in this country. It allows us to maintain a balance so that the country as a whole does not go completely awry. A society governed by either side alone will inevitably become weathered into a path too deep to dig ourselves out of alone. Extreme conservatives will lead us down a path without social growth. Extreme liberals will guide us away from the ideals this great country was built on and toward a completely new set of unproven standards. There is no middle stance. There is no perfect party. There is only balance in motion, and it's up to us to decide when the swing is necessary.

We need less partying and more Intelligent conversation regarding this Socio-Economic disaster of an experiment that we call Capitalism.
 
It's Throwback Thursday and as you cannot throw a forward pass in rugby it's apt to mention the Rugby World Cup starts tomorrow. I played rugby at a reasonably high level and it is great to see the sport enjoying considerable global growth over the years and this tournament is set to be the biggest yet with over 2.25 million tickets already sold and a potential TV audience of 772 million households in 209 territories.

The USA and Canada are represented with decent teams but traditionally the real powerhouse teams have tended to come from the southern hemisphere. This year though it is reckoned will be the tightest ever and, while New Zealand are favourites to lift the trophy, there are up to 6 teams that are in with a real chance to lift the trophy. Australia and South Africa (with our brotherly friends @Rednose58 and @MajorBlixem cheering them on) will be there or thereabouts and, from up north, England (with home advantage), France and Ireland are expected to go well.

Ireland play their 1st match of the tournament on Saturday when they play Canada so we may see a little banter over the weekend! :)

No man, my jape, while indeed was a joke, was full heartedly meant as well. I also full heartedly disagree with the two party system as well. I don't think the general population is so unaware or incapable that they can't function if they actually have to think for themselves. I just think we as Americans have been spoon feed our opinions for so long that its hard to break the cycle. Also, having a two party system has taken on a sort of religious mentality where people bandwagon their parties view, and completely block out anything counter to that view point, despite any sort of evidence to the contrary. Throw in strong corporate interest and banking and you get a great recipe for disaster. Republican, Democrat, follow the money trail and I am sure you will end up finding the same group pulling the strings. That's not to say the two party system itself is responsible for corruption and greed. I do though think that it can, and has, become divisive in nature. And to be fair, I am not a big supporter of either party, its just that some of the front runners in the republican party right now probably shouldn't even be allowed to the adult table.

Which reminds me.

A few people have joked that the Caterham Fireblade in GT6 with its utterly unrealistic long gearing would probably accelerate quicker from a standstill in reverse gear. Well in 2002 one of them went a bit further:

Racing driver Darren Manning has broken a world land speed record going backwards.

The 26-year-old, F1 tester for BAR-Honda and co-presenter of the Pulling Power TV series, set the record for driving backwards of 102.52mph at Kemble Airfield near Cirencester, Glos. The time, which beat the previous record by nearly 20mph, was verified by the Guinness Book Of Records.

He was driving a standard Caterham FireBlade, which is powered by a 954cc Honda motorcycle engine, with the transmission reversed to provide six reverse ratios.

The rules stated that Manning was unable to look over his shoulder. "On my first couple of practice attempts things felt really unstable and I imagined I was going at huge speed. Then I asked the guys what I was doing and they said, `Oh, about 40mph' I realised that I had an awful long way to go and that felt quite daunting," he said. "Even at 45mph, the slightest movement on the steering wheel had it weaving like mad. As soon as I touched the brakes the car wanted to spin.

"By the time it came to the record runs, however, I had got used to the sensation. I just kept staring ahead - I found a focal point in the distance and tried to keep that in the centre of the bonnet. The more I did it, the easier it became. On my first go we hit 91mph, which beat the old record, but once we'd achieved that we thought we'd go for 100mph because it sounds better. I've got the certificate framed on my wall: it feels rather nice to hold a world record."

As far as I know the record still stands.

Wasn't aware that the RWC was starting tomorrow. Not that I want my native team to do poorly, but I'll definitely be pulling for the All Blacks (that's New Zealand for the unititated). Great squad, loads of history, and they (like almost all Kiwi national teams) have the one of the most badass pregame rituals in all of sports: the Haka.
