SNAIL CHALLENGE

Official race nights are for Snail Members ONLY!

A qualifying race (Dirty) that will set the field for Four races that will consist of lap totals that will be close to 12 - 15 minutes in length. Using Snail rules and strictly enforcing no dirty racing for the actual races but allowing dirty racing for the qualifying race!

The lobby will be open at 8:30 EST. At 9:00 the host(s) will Start a NASTY DIRTY CRAZY Race at Northern Isle which will be the qualifier for the nights event. Demolition derby to say the least. Do whatever it takes to win! This will set the field for the next race. (more on this race below.)

The last place finisher TO THE DRIVER WHO TAKES THE FLAG and doesn't sit on track will be allowed to choose 1 of the N class cars in the list for the next race AS WELL AS what tire compound we will be running. You will be placed behind the field. You are then not eligible for prizes.

Have your choice in mind as we will only allow 5 minutes for you to decide, as this will be a little break before the next session, if a choice has not been made, then @Neutty will make the choice at random.

All drivers in the lobby will VOTE for the next course to race, the voting period will start after the car has been selected. ALL TRACKS ARE AVAILABLE EXCEPT THE FOLLOWING. CIRCUIT DE LA SARTHE, CIRCUIT DE LA SARTHE NO CHICANE, NORDSCHLEIFE AND THE 24 HOURS OF NURBURGRING ARE NOT ALLOWED. Time of day will be what the voting process brings EXCEPT for the Tokyo circuits and Northern Isle those will be the last choice. Tires will be chosen by the one who makes the car choice.

The next race will have a 10 minute practice session this will allow me to set the laps for the race!

The points system will run like it does on any given Sunday night per the OLR. EXCEPT, THIS IS WHERE THE POINTS DONT MATTER COMES IN EFFECT. THERE WILL BE 6 DIFFERENT WAYS THE FINISHING ORDER WILL BE INVERTED. THERE WILL BE A ROLL OF A DICE.

The date has not been set just yet but we will discuss in the THREAD!

A prize will be there but has yet to be determined on how much.

I’ve got the lobbies saved for this weeks combo so if an additional practice lobby is needed for tonight I can volunteer my services as host.
You may want to take the lead on that @NASCARNATE91 if you can and are willing. I know @SAMHAIN85 will most likely have a survivors practice lobby going. I was tentative to back fill him on opening an official Thursday night lobby but can not commit at this time due to obligations at work.

If it’s ok I would like to host official practice lobby
Room ID:
0475-4216-0161-3029-4852
Or unofficial

Why dont you guys host both lobbies (if needed). Just stay on the same Sunday night schedule (1st race at 930) and have a message pretyped for randoms that join. Thursdays are money for grabbing new recruits.

I will have a Survivor lobby open at 10PM EST

And what are your thoughts on the C8? I personally like it a lot more than most of the renderings that were out there. The side view has a bit of a 458 Italia look to it though.........
0-60 in under 3 secs for $60k. You might start seeing the younger generation buying them now. I think it looks and sounds great. It has a custom front suspension that raises 2 inches for big bumps and stuff. It also will remember the location you moved the suspension and raise it automatically when you at the same location in the future. Can’t wait to see the race car version.

Yes 0-60 and that's on the base Z51 model, and yeah the 2 inch auto lift is nice and holds up to 1000 locations, but there are concerns on it's functionality. The manual transmission will be missed though......The Z06, GS, ZR1 and C8R should be pretty impressive, based on the base model that was revealed.

It's pretty, but the corvette is an FR car and I have mixed feelings about seeing it this way. I feel like its trying to emulate the European styling which is great but just not a vette. The c7 body style starting 14 (I think) is amazing and I personally would like to see that body style improved Vs this new concept.

i belive looks more like a ferrari than like a corvette. lost its identity. but if i had 60k, i would buy it, seem cheaper than a ferrari... i dont have that money so i will wait it to be added to GT, hope will be soon.

I was kind of in the same feeling as this at first, but looking at alot of pictures and angles if the car, I do feel the Corvette styling does still come through. The Corvette letting go of the FR layout was a tough one to swallow, especially since they nearly perfected the balance for that platform of car, but with everything else, evolving to stay ahead if the game is a must. For Corvette to get any better in the FR platform, more exotic materials such as more carbon fiber, titanium, and such would he needed to lower weight further, and more money to offer a higher output engine. This would push the price of a base vette north of 75-80k. Knowing this, I think they opted to re-engineer the car to do more with the cheaper, lower cost materials available while still being able to perform at such a high level. My final opinion, is it was time for the Corvette to evolve to allow it to rise "beyond" its competitors while doing it at a fractional price. Hats off to GM for taking the gamble, and I think in the long run this car will prove to be one of the best performance per dollar bargains you can buy.

Agreed with the "real deal" as opposed to the renderings and the leaked shots. Although the rear of the white car didn't exactly look as sharp as the other colors (just something that struck me as opposed the the blue and red that they had on stage).

What a performance value! I am also excited about the front suspension raise.

Even if I had to press it each time I got to a speed bump, I am just glad it is there. Based on the engine packaging with the dry sump system and the wanting to have the space they were looking for I get why they had to delete the manual. Just too much room needed for the regular transmission packaging. And with how quick regular automatics (ZFs come to mind), not even the dual clutch units, have become, I can understand it from a performance perspective. However, I do get that it won't quite be the same driving experience without a manual.

I side with Nova (below) on this one. Still retains enough Vette to not just be a knock off of Euro styling. With the new MR layout, I don't really know what else they could have done to make it look too much different. Looking at most MR cars, they all have a similar wedge shape.

GM definitely took a gamble, but as they said in the reveal, they had pushed the limits of FR layout. This was basically eluded to by anyone who drove a Z06, not to mention the ZR1.

The fact that the base Stingray is still under $60k is amazing. I am looking forward to seeing the GS, as 495/470 (LT2 w performance exhaust) is more than enough for a daily/street driven car. I couldn't imagine my Scat Pack after a ~800 pound diet (quoting about 3600 lbs curb weight) with a low center of gravity and wide tires.

This is the view of the car that I just don't like. There's just something off about it that that bugs me.. My brain just screams NOOOO.
My friend in Detroit said he has seen these cars roaming in camo around town, and even with the camo, he said pictures dont do the car justice, especially dimensionally. I would wait on placing final judgement on the look and angles until we get to see one in person. Also, I find the more I look at the picture you posted above, the more Corvette queues stand out. Yes, it does have an older nsx/ferrari 458 Italia silhouette, but the cut lines, the angular panels, and the accenting details bring the "Corvette" of it out for me.
