I was looking for the 'dogfight' aspect to a game, and Aces of Thunder has that, whereas I believe Flight Simulator doesn't. I'm hoping to go to Point Roberts tomorrow to pick up the Thurstmaster joystick. A couple of Snails already have the game @radliffracing @Gurney67 , and one other that I've forgotten, do you have any suggestions about the game? My biggest complaint is the use of the VR2 controllers, using the little joysticks is difficult, grabbing the virtual joystick is problematic, and mapping buttons makes them touch sensitive which means I'm constantly activating them when I don't want to. Other than that it's a great time...or it will be when I learn how to fly and shoot. :D

I’m a beginner also and haven’t had much time to do ANY sim related activities. I will say I’ve learned there’s a whole world of strategy involved in aerial dog fighting. I’ve watched about 90 minutes of you tube videos related to War Thunder ( predecessor to Aces of Thunder ) in the past. Kinetic Energy, plane-specific strengths and weaknesses, attack and defense techniques… I have a lot of respect to the people that did ( or do ) this in real life.

I hope everyone is doing well, I miss racing with y’all. Life is too busy ATM but sooner or later I’ll be back!

Hey, where are all the races uploaded to?
It's somewhere in the OLR, but here's what I remember. Go to Showcase. Search content and select replays. In keyword #1 (I think) enter the Snail code for races: Date (YYYYMMDD) Division (D1,2) Race # (R1,2,3) Round # (R1,2). So first race in round 2 in D2 last night is: 20250215D2R2R1.

It was easily the most fun racing I've had on GT7. I got into several back and forth clean battles that were hella fun!! Once I get a wheel that doesnt disconnect and learn a little more right foot control exiting low speed corners with no TC....

Had a blast!!

And yes... i vote to never race the 3500b with less than RM or RS options.
It was a blast racing against you at Spa in the Porsche side by side.

The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 3 - Gran Turismo F3500-B (RH) at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve - S01 Afternoon (11 laps)
Therefore, the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. @Worst_Driver wins Prize A, and gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
Round 2 - Porsche 911GT3 R (992) '22 (RM) at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps - S04 Afternoon (6 laps)
This means either the car or track will be replaced for next week's line-up. @ZoomZoomMf is the Prize B winner and they have the option to freeze the car or the track, or they can give that option to the Prize C winner. If they give the freeze away, they get to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.

Prize C goes to @bublyman - they get whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your prize selection until all incident reports have been filed and it's confirmed you don't have any penalties.
  • It is recommended you visit SNAIL combo history, along with other data on our car and track history, to review how many times we've raced each car and/or track.
  • Please remember, originality is always appreciated. Although not required, picking cars and tracks we've never raced is a plus.
  • What's more important is, you thoroughly test any combo you are considering, before making it your official selection.
    • For example, any car you select must not hit its rev limiter, either hard1 or soft2, at any point during a race, even in the draft.

IMPORTANT:
  • When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting.
    • For example, if you want to choose the Integra Type R as your car selection, post "Honda Integra Type R (DC2) '98".
    • If you want to select Monza for your track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza".
    • Being specific helps us to update the lineup accurately and also helps avoid any confusion among the drivers.
  • Please be sure to list the HP and Weight (LBS) of any car you select.
  • For track selections, include the Preset Weather and the Time of the Day (e.g.: S01 Afternoon) or it will be set to default.
    • Available settings can be found under Time/Weather Settings, when creating an online Lobby, after selecting your track.

Car Selection Guidelines
See Section 3 of the SNAIL OLR, Policies and Guidelines.

Track Selection Guidelines
See Section 3.1 of the SNAIL OLR, Policies and Guidelines
.

1Hitting the "hard" limit causes the RPMs to "bounce" and reduces torque and speed.
2Hitting the "soft" limit ceases all acceleration potential. Meaning, you're not going to go any faster.

Im still trying to figure out how to watch the replays, lol... it was super fun! I had a great race with someone in the mini too... lots of back and forth. I lost both races, lol... but im coming for you guys! ;-)

It’s in the GT7 game directly. In the main menu, you go to Showcase (below on the left). On the left of your screen, you go on Content Search, then on the Current tag menu, make sure you selected Replays. After that, on the keyboard search box, you type «Snail». You’ll see all the replays uploaded with «Snail» tag in it. You then swipe on the selection to find what you want. The official Sunday night replays are usually code with the date followed by the division, then the combo and finally the race. So, if you want to see the second race with the Porsche at Spa for example, you must search for «20260215D2R2R2».

Ahhhh!! I was looking for Showcase on here, lol. Thanks!

I'll make my pick for Prize A tomorrow. You already know I'm waiting for the full refresh of the UCD and LCD for new nuggets as the Mighty Car Mods guys would say. ;)
Ya' know, in some sectors of our society, "nuggets" is used as a euphemism for turds. Just sayin'. ;)

Price C @JamCar0ne

Knowing our dear @Worst_Driver, I'm sure he won't choose a more powerful car than the Porsche. So we'll end the evening on the Big Sur Coast, with a magnificent sunset view. I admit I was thinking a bit about our friends who are using VR for this race... So here's my pick for the Porsche.

Grand Valley - Highway 1
S02, Sunset
MDLT: 1:52.000 should give us 8 laps.

Prize A pick: Nissan Fairlady Z 300ZX TT (SH Tires) @ Autodrome Lago Maggiore West Early Morning S03
Mid div lap time: 1:42
Back up car: Renault Avantime 3.0 V6 24V '02
@Dragonwhisky

The 300ZX and the Avantime are both V6 coupes with manual transmission so they have that in common I guess.

@bublyman I almost picked the Murciélago @ High Speed Ring but then the 300 ZX popped up in the UCD and couldn't resist. BTW, this Murciélago has never been raced in SNAIL, just saying for future prize winners ;)

Practice tomorrow at nine Eastern right??

I'll kick off the Car-Show this week.

On the February 22 1997, scientist at the Roslin Institute in Scotland announced to the world that they had successfully cloned a sheep a year earlier named Dolly. Dolly was the first mammal ever cloned from the cells of an adult animal.

@radliffracing - was nice to see you and @Mac1032763 again on the track for practice last night. We were 12 as one point and as you said in your post "even if it was just practice", it was some of the best Snail Spec Racing I was involved in in quite some time.

What a difference double-digit grids make. Come out on folks.
