Reasons:

1) With correct color combination they can look pretty decent, such as 'clear on white body' and 'carbon fiber on black body'. Never do clear on a dark body, and vice versa.

2) No comment. I haven't drove a truck.

3) They claim that these spoilers provide 'better tration on the rear'. More is better, or so they say. A spoiler's purpose is to keep the rear portion on the ground by reducing the aerodynamic drag to the rear. Therefore it is only useful for RWD cars and 4WD cars with settings that are prone to oversteer. Anyone who install spoilers on FFs, well... that's their money.

4) These are to keep the car on the ground. Combined with lower height and a smooth road, the car can create a higher top speed by producing an aerodynamic lift known as 'ground effects'. If it doesn't have enough horsepower under the hood, however, it is defined as 'rice'.

5) You're in the conclusion that manuals=complete control, more fun. This is incorrect. You'll need to know how both transmissions work before understanding why racers choose manuals.

6) The most potent advantage hatchbacks give you is, again, less aerodynamic drag. All Civic Type Rs are hatchbacks. If you see any Civic type Rs sedans or coupe, that's 90% rice.

7) That's why they swap into a better engine such as the H22A. However, until they have the money to swap a 20B rotary, yes, why bother...

87) The Civic is an econobox. It is a highly reliable car for daily drivers - elders, businessmen, housewifes, etc.. But then the Japanese racing somehow kicked in with Integra Type Rs and Civic Type Rs. People don't like daydreaming, they want to imitate as one. In addition, some are extremely arrogant and overconfident with their Civics because most of them will tell you 'do you know that the most powerful Civic can run 11 seconds?' While this sounds fast, people don't react and ask 'DO YOU HAVE THE MONEY TO MAKE YOUR CIVIC TO RUN 11 SECONDS?'

9) Please don't put down a car simply because it has bad cosmetics. This makes you a lil immature. Drive one first.

10) People have different tastes... some drive the Scion xB even. These squarish cars are origined from Japan mostly. FYI check out the Reliant Robin, and at first you won't believe what you're seeing ;)

Agreed. These people are idiots.

Oh, and a point of order, inserting anything into the airflow increases aerodynamic drag. This does not produce downforce, it is a negative side-effect of using the downforce-producing device.

Yes altezza taillights should stay on Altezzas, I agree with that.

Huge spoilers should only stay on actual racing cars.

There is nothing wrong with tuning automatics, just look at Mercedes Benz AMG, all automatics with a electronic shift.

Skylines with "ugly body kits" thats just your opinion, some are nice, some aren't.

USDM Lancers are ok, poorly designed overall, but ok.

People who mod civics, is because either they cant afford it, they like the car, or they like the challenge.

Some people can only afford a 1.6 liter engine

Aztec, baja, element...those are just designed to meet different crowds of people who like cars similar to that, if you dont like them, then dont buy them.

19xx: Civic Type R dont exist in North America, PERIOD. Yes there are hatchbacks, and sedan Civic Type Rs but only in other countries. Only Integra Type R exists in North America.

You obviously never heard of the famous 727/(some other number) torque flight 3 speed tranny. One of the best trannies ever made.

At first i wasn't even going to bother, but i've got nothing better to do anyway.

Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 8.

2.Altezza's on trucks
(why do you even try)

Lexus RX330, Mitsubishi Outlander

3. Huge spoilers on cars that dont need them
(a roof high spoiler on a neon that is 3 times bigger than the stock skyline spoiler)

The Toyota Supra doesn't need that rear spoiler, yet it's there. Neither does the R34 Skyline GT-R, because of a complex diffuser/undertray system. But it's a Skyline, so, hey, it doesn't matter.

4. skylines with ugly body kits
(why ruin the most beautiful car ever) (see picture)

Most beautiful? Obviously you've never looked at an Aston Martin, or a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.

5. Tuning automatics
(why not be in complete control and have more fun)

Kenny Bernstein doesn't run 4 second quarter miles by shifting himself. Neither does Michael Schumacher lap around various racetrack by shifting himself, for what it's worth. Automatic gearboxes are used in drag racing, because they're less of a hassle to build, and they're ultimately faster, mainly because you don't have to lift and shift, and it lessens the chances of missing a shift.

6. Civic Hatchbacks
(dont look cool, nothing good about them)

I'd laugh, but i don't want to attract my boss' attention. Drag racing, road racing, auto-x, name it, it won it. It's a very potent machine in the right hands.

7. tuning a 1.6 liter honda engine
(why bother)

Why not? It's a good motor. Drag racers are getting close to 1000 hp on those motors... That's 1000 hp from a 1.6 or 1.8l engine.

!!!sorry to everyone this may offend!!!
if you have a nice civic i respect that
it may be nicer than any car i will ever have but i still dont like
8.honda civics
(why work so hard to make a car cool when you can just get one that already is and make it cooler 2.5rs, GTI, 280Z)

Different strokes for different folks. GTI's are pigs and they're slow, so why bother? Same thing for 2.5RS', and 280Zs aren't exactly too common. Plus, with a Civic, or an Integra, you have near unlimited choices, wether you go for show, or for go.

9.US Lancers
(they look so gay)

So cars have sexual orientation? Grow up.

10. Aztecs, bajas, avalanches, elements
(i dont really need to explain this one)...

There, finally something we agree on.

Indeed. On a quick test on Channel 4's "Driven", a stock 2002 Honda Civic Type-R beat a stock 2001 Honda S2000 on a lap of Castle Combe racetrack... Both cars were driven by professional racing drivers.

The US Lancer can beat whatever you drive, and it's better than all the non-US lancers previous to it.

Nobody cares if you're just going to parrot the opinion of every automotive journalist that ever lived. Don't like the Element or Aztek? Shut up - nobody cares. Have a real opinion? By all means...

The damn thing isn't even fast. It's quick, and that's all.

If you said that to me, now, it would apply.:irked:

Just because he doesn't share your opinion doesn't mean he needs to shut up. Not everyone likes ugly ass cars like the Evo, Aztek, Element, etc.

I know it'd apply, you have a ten-year-old V6 Lexus. :irked: :irked: (double irked)

I like the Evo, but, like everybody else, I don't like the Element, Aztek, etc etc - I don't even like Bangle BMWs. The problem I face is the idiots who just parrot exactly what they hear in the media. Majority opinion is that the Element is ugly, so why do I need to hear it from every 13-year-old who can't spell? It gets boring

It's 8 years old, not 10!:irked::irked::irked: And that's an underpowered V6 to you, damnit!

What makes you think every 13 year old listens to 'the media'? When I was 13 I didn't ready any car mags, or watch any car shows on TV, and if we had those cars then I definitely would have called them ugly as ****. What if it's the same for all of these 13 year olds? Or not.:odd:

Wow - triple irked. I won't even venture farther than that.

Well maybe they don't, but the fact remains - it doesn't take a lot to say 'the Avalanche is RUBBER!!!' or 'the Aztek looks like a DUCK!!!!' - that stuff's been said and said. If he's on the Internet, he knows it's been said - so why can't he make his own views? God knows I don't comment about the Element, Aztek, and Avalanche, but only because I consent with popular opinion.

I totally agree with you for the most part (ESPECIALlY # 5). But I don't agree with #'s 6 &7. I'm really not a big fan of Honda Civics, but I still think it is a nice car because it is reliable, economical, (in my opinion) looks good, and the JDM Vtec is really fast too. Now to #7, i don't think it is useless to tune a 1.6L engine. If you wan't to use it for drag racing, then I guess it isn't a good idea. But if you want to use the car for the track, a 1.6L isn't that bad. Just look at the Spoon Civic. It is fast (in comparison to other cars in its class) and fun to drive because of its high revving engine. That's my opinion about the Honda Civic.

Talk about bringing a thread up from the dead...

Happy to say this is no longer true.:p My newest car is much faster than an Evo VIII, and it's like eleventy bajillion times cooler than Doug.

[edit]: Dammit people, if you bump up an old thread, will you at least put "*bump*" or something in your post?

[edit2]: Rumple, I hear Miatas are actually bisexual.

Well what if the spoiler is factory installed on a FF car?

For the most part i agree, aside from the cars that come with the lights standard.

2.Altezza's on trucks
(why do you even try)
Um...PR already worked this one out i believe.

3. Huge spoilers on cars that dont need them
(a roof high spoiler on a neon that is 3 times bigger than the stock skyline spoiler)
I think PR covered this one too :odd:

4. skylines with ugly body kits
(why ruin the most beautiful car ever) (see picture)
Most beautiful car ever...haha...i dont think theirs one car you cna name that everyone on the forum would consider beautiful.

5. Tuning automatics
(why not be in complete control and have more fun)
For the reason that it is near perfection and almost perfectly accurate. If accuracy is not something you want in a race then...no comments.

6. Civic Hatchbacks
(dont look cool, nothing good about them)
Aside from the fact that with the worlds rising gas prices more and omre people are looking for vehicles with good gas mileage? What world do you live in man? A world with $0.30L gas stations? I'd much rather take a civic hatch than a prius

7. tuning a 1.6 liter honda engine
(why bother)
a 1.6L 4 cyl. can be tuned to a very high output if the right aftermarket parts are used. I think someone mention the Spoon one earlier.

Back to the fuel economy statement.

9.US Lancers
(they look so gay)
Jeez...I'm not even going to begin on the immaturity of that statement. The least i can say is have you ever looked into the reasoning behind its design and such?

10. Aztecs, bajas, avalanches, elements
(i dont really need to explain this one)...
Well...i agree with the Aztec and the Element. Aztec is just a portable tent, and the Element...to me, is an overpriced cubic 4-seater. I may be wrong. The Baja is made for rugged terrain and comes with the design to handle that terrain. As for the Avalanche, I, personally, think it is a nice loking truck. Very aggressive looking, but also a multipurpose vehicle.

Other than that, all i can say is do some research before you come in here and start thread making with your elementary school posse.

Was that really necessary? I know that he revived an old thread from the dead but calling him stupid isn’t right. You should have just left out the stupid part. ;) Everyone was a newbie at some point; I try to let them fit in.

Anyways, I disagree with a lot of thing howie2 said, but I am too lazy to get into that now.

hiya! :O :D

About your number 8th paragraph which says instead "87" I agree about asking to those overconfident Civic owners "Do you have the money to make your Civic run 11 seconds?" after giving you a question about knowing the powerfullest Civic. But what also happen most often that I see is something like this:

"Man...I can get a Honda Civic and soup it up and beat that 12-13 Second XXXX!" (fill in Car that qualify for 12-13 second, American, Japanese, or European car of your choice) :D

Most people will probably just ignore that person and walk away, while some I know will respond something like this, similar to yours:

"So...where is this Honda Civic of yours that can beat my 12-13 second car??? hmmm??? Do you even have the money to buy one and to soup it up?" :D

And then....that should make that overconfident person just stumble over his own word...tehehehe  :O :O :O

Dude on number 8 the answer to that question is Because for the price of a 350Z you could build up a CIVIC that has twice asmuch HP as the 350Z

THATS WHY BUB!!!

Since we are talking about cars in GENERAL (unlike specifics, which our 12-year-old has dealt with.)

1. Minispares on an ugly, non-matching rim.
2. Steering wheels that unnecessarily lock in place.
3. People who buy new rims on a car that smokes at the exhaust.
4. Owners of cars with bad fuel economy who whine about gas prices.
5. Stickers denoting non-existant/not-available trim packages.
6. Rubberneckers.
7. Cars without window tint.
8. Cars with purple window tint.
9. Cars with sticky steering wheels.
10. People who drive on underinflated tires.

Someone mentioned the Skyline's ugly Veilside kit. There was an ugly body kit for one of the rival cars representing the Skyline in "Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3." I don't know what team it was or what city, but check this.

While I'm watching SPEED Channel's "Test Drive" of the newer Pontiac GTO (which will feature drifting later), a Skyline in TXR3 had this bland gray/beige paint, an ugly-looking front bumper package which basically "hides" the Skyline's typical front grill, and I think the back was okay. And to correct something I said in the past, I said in the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series that the "Red Devil" Skyline was ugly. Well, the Skyline in TXR3 was pretty nice. Little monstrous, but nice.

But anyhow, I've seen an uglier Skyline bodykit. And if you ask me, I'm more respectful to bodykits, but some are either overdone, overkilled, or crappy. But my 10 things I hate about cars in general? None I can list. Not ready to land and knocks yet.
