Did you know that on Halloween ten years ago, that Greg Moore was tragically killed in a vicious crash at California? I remember this so well because it was supposed to be Juan Pablo Montoya vs. Dario Franchitti for the (then) CART championship. But this story was fazed out as a somber moment for the loss of such a prominent young racer. One thing I always hate imagining is... what could have been? Greg Moore could have been to many more heights. Many more accolades. Many more racing opportunities. But, and I remember watching this race LIVE ON TV... I felt heartbroken and saddened that Greg Moore was involved in this terrible crash.

Ten years since his death will pass starting on Halloween. How do you feel ten years since his passing?

I had a the good fortune to meet him in September 1995 while he was dominating the Indy Lights series. Aside from his obvious talent, he was a very impressive and considerate young man.

It was a shock to witness his passing on television. It's something that I do think about from time to time. One thing that I do think about is that stupid grass infield at California Speedway. If there would have been crushed rock or tarmack like they have at Formula One tracks to slow momentum, maybe Greg Moore might still be alive today.

God almighty, it HAS been ten years...Well, Greg was definitely one of the guys i rooted for back when i was a kid...I just loved how he could be a threat at any race (Ovals were his specialty, but his Road-Course skills were just as good) and just...DRIVE, i guess. When he died, any kind of thoughts i had of being a racer like him seemed to slip away...Only to show up a few years ago.

In short: Yeah, i miss him being around...But if he hadn't of died, Helio Castroneves wouldn't of gotten HIS big break, so take it for what you will.
