You know what?
All this saying grip is faster but noone has really given any proof. Give some definative proof and seriously, I would stop arguing for this cause.

One of the major reasons why i believe drift is faster is because of IA licence 8 while trying for gold with the Mines Skyline on the Complex String section.

During certain sections of the decreasing radius circles, I have accidentally turned somewhat too roughly/quickly and ended up losing traction. What i noticed was that under full acceleration the car did not understeer (slide towards the outside of the turn). In fact i was catching up to the car in the demo replay (which gets you gold).

Not only this but even stronger proof of drift being faster on tight turns (haipins), on the third last turn on that licence, my car was behind but by the end of the turn (while drifting) i was 1 car length infront of the demo car!
Now really how is this possible since everyone is saying grip is faster? ... oh it must be that the car is tuned poorly so that power oversteer will help =/

If any of you try and get gold in licences, and actually get gold. I truely believe that if u employ good low angle drifts, it will either better your time or it will have no negative effect on your time (providing you choose the right angle and time (hairpins) to drift)

Neither grip or drifting is good when one is used all the time. A mix between the two is the best because each corner can be attacked differently, achieving the best lap times.

In race though, the best way to go through a corner is when all four wheels are about to break traction ;)

Yes, good call, Thio..... This does not mean you are drifting... It means you are using all of your available grip..... ( just clarifying for Kagoi).... Furthermore... Kagoi, You have obviously not been paying attention... As it has been stated numerous times before, Just because you are able to do better than the AI, or even beat your own times, does in no way mean that drift is faster. It just means that it is faster for you... If you were to go up against a Pro grip driver, they would mop the floor with you.....

The only way for you to trully understand, is to study the Physics side of the motorsport.... So, don't argue, and just study.... You will figure it out.... I did.....

I'm 48/48 gold. Twice. I didn't drift on any of them.

Beating the demo car will (apart from on one test) get you a gold time. But that's not necessarily the best time - Arco/Wiese has managed an overall licence time (all licence times added together) around two minutes faster than me and he doesn't drift.


Now... nobody is saying that for YOU, drift is quicker than grip at specific points of the track. Yet you are arguing that drift is quicker than grip for EVERYONE at that specific point of the track - unless they're crap at drifting. This is patently untrue - and I've not yet been unkind enough to apply the same argument to you - but I will now.

The reason drift is quicker than grip for you at certain points of the track is because you are crap at grip driving - grip is quicker for EVERYONE.

Now I don't believe that for a second - but you can see how circular and self-referential your statements have been.
 
TK(drift king) did a video segment on drift vs grip once. He stated that grip is faster than drift. Even gave driving samples of the two worlds and compaired them side by side. But this is real world physics, not video game physics. If drift was so fast, why doesnt JGTC or any other GT class racing around the world drift? This is why drifting is separate from the rest of the racing applications. GT3 isnt real life, actually when it comes to GT3 i kinda agree that drifting incorperated into your racing will let you get those fast lap times. But as far as facts go, ask any of the proffessonal drivers of the world japanese, italian, american, whatever and they will say it to your face, Grip is faster.
