I wasn't planning on doing this in A spec at all - I figured it was going to be a 6 hour + grind. Also, when I did it for B spec, there was some issue with tyre choices during wet/dry transitional periods which really threw the AI a curve ball.

Then I had the 'bright' idea of running in the X2010, probably from my experince of the track/car combination from the Vettel challenge. Still only on bronze for that so I wondered if maybe 172 laps might be adequate practice. Okay, so I was going to beat the other cars by miles, but L 40 still seems a long way off. Plus I've already done the next enduro, 4h Nurburgring, a couple of times and plan to do it some more, as this is actually quite enjoyable.

Suzuka's never been a good track for me, so I wasn't keen on using a comparable car anyway, with or without the time consideration.

When you know you're faster than the other cars, the only thing left to do is watch your lap times tumble, so I got stuck in, figuring about 4 hours might be a good overall time.
After the first stop (lap 18, almost empty) I was several laps up and realising that the biggest barrier to fast lap times is lapping backmarkers. Good job the X2010 doesn't take damage.
After the second stop and my best time still in the 1:09s, I remember the car has 150/200 aero setup from something I was doing before (discovered PP only goes to 999). Probably should've checked before I started and at least used the default setup.
Over time, I managed to find some flow, especially in the first half of the track, but the closing speed on the backmarkers has a way of putting you off. If you slow, then the lap's gone, if you don't and you get it wrong, there's a big accident.

Okay, so 3:53:49 (+65 laps) and it's over. I know there are a lot of folks out there who could do it faster, even with the standard (non ds) controller I was using. Prize car (GTR LM Concept) wasn't all that, either and the XP (about a mil) & cash payouts (345k) were a bit stingy too.
Sitting here writing this, I realise that for all its faults, this game has gotten under my skin in ways that are probably bad for my health.
