I kept on getting an AC Cobra in my race so after 3 attempts at using my E-type and gettin whooped big style I bought me an AC Cobra and modified it... ran the race and battered the AC without too many problems...

Funniest part of the race was during a B-speccing moment I noticed that the Ginetta G4 was in 3rd but was constantly on and off the circuit but still doing well... then after half of the race he tried to pit... spent about 1 minute trying to get in the pit lane and failing... he then gave up and raced another lap on what I presume must have been Red tyres... any bend or slight variation in the road would result in the boy spinning out!!!

The last place old Skyline managed to delap himself and was upto within half a lap of him as he finally crept into the pits about 13 minutes later!!

He proceeded to claw back upto 4th by the end!!

WHat kind of Aspec points are people getting on this? I started with the G4 and only got 7 points, but I wasn't going to start over. I'm going to have to go back and do it again to improve that, so I'm curious what numbers you guys are getting.

I was getting 7 with fully specced E-type but had no chance in winning...

My competitive AC Cobra got me 1 point.

I think the best way to get good points it to race when the AC isn't there!!

I didn't run against the AC, but I was putting 8 laps on the field by the time I was finished. I hadn't expected that, since the G4 only had 100hp or something lame like that.

Hmmmm...

Very odd then... Seems that this race has some very strict A-spec criteria then...

The G4 is quite useful though as it's very very light... so that might have minimised your points?

Yeah, could have been. I'm suspicious about the "field criteria" as well. I'm still not so sure the game doesn't take your car into consideration before building the field against you, which could explain why there was no Cobra or other high performance cars in the lineup.

Still, I havn't heard anyone mention receiving any decent Aspec points for this event yet.

Did the Nurburgring last night with a Isuzu 117 Coupe 1968.
138 hp, with racing muffler, sports ROM, Hard Sports tyres, triple clutch, racing flywheel, sports brakes and fully customized transmission.

12 a-spec points.

The main opposition was the Mercedes 300SL Coupe. The race was close for the first 7 laps but I gradually pulled away, stopping every 4 laps to the Merc's 5, to eventually win by 1:25.

Total race time: 3:54:29
Fastest Lap: 9:04.677

What was curious was that for the last five laps my Isuzu had a massive pull to the right in a straight line. Why?? Something to do with wear on the chassis?

Unless you had a brand new 117 coupe (which you win in the Isuzu event race), it's to do with the chassis and you needed to do a body restore/refresh before you started the racing. :)

You'll have to live with it for the next 3 races I'm afraid. :scared:

BTW.......HOLY THREAD REVIVAL BATMAN!!👍

Just finished perhaps the greatest race of my GT career.

1000 Miles Round 2: Opera Paris (95 laps)

Qualified on pole, with a total stock Isuzu. About 120 hp. Hard Sports tyres.
Time: 1:47.475.

I estimated I was just about 2 seconds faster than the Mercedes Coupe, so I 'penalised' myself (I have a rule where if I am 2 second a lap faster, on a 1:00-2:00 lap time track, then I take either power or tyre grip off the car).
As I could only change tyres, I fitted street normal tyres for the race.

34 a-spec points

The race was incredibly close. I could never get away from the Merc. I kept the lead for about the first 18 laps, never more then 5 seconds ahead. The Mercedes would pass me on the back straight, and I would outbrake him into the sharp right-hander at the end of it.

The Mercedes pitted at the end of lap 20. I carried on until lap 26, where my tyres were shot. I lost time staying out, and came out just in front of the Mercedes, who passed me in a number of seconds. I decided to change to a 4 stop strategy, like the Merc. Staying out on worn tyres would cost me too much time.

My first two laps on cold tyres were always very slow throughout the race. The Merc got out to a 8 second lead at one stage. :nervous:
However, lapped cars were my greatest ally. The Merc lost the lead about three times due to lapped cars.

I pitted on laps 23,44, 65, and 80. Thus, I pitted at the same time as the Merc on lap 80. I had a slender 3 second lead at that stage. I decided to pit on the same lap, as the Merc murdered me and passed me for the lead throughout the race when I was on cold tyres.

The pressure was on. I haven't been as nervous as this for a long time in GT. The nerves meant I just couldn't get into a rhythm. And my lap times slipped into the 1:50s. Previously, when chasing the Merc, I had done consistent 1:49s, and even some mid 1:48s.

The Merc got the lead down to 2 seconds with 2 laps to go!!!! He even got passed me on the back straight before I outbraked him at the tight right-hander. Bloody hell!!!! Imagine having to do this race again if I were to lose. And the Merc would have the advantage at Le Mans for sure. The championship was on the line!!!! Then, I put a lap car between myself and the Merc and nailed a high 1:48. That put the lead out to 4.5 seconds with one lap to go. I got home by 5.395 seconds.

What a race!!!!:cool::cheers:

Fastest lap: 1.48.450

Yeah, well, this what I found when I looked up race reports for the 1000 Miles.👍

Cool. this is AWESOME! This is the kind of racing i'm all about! 👍:D good work, batman.

Yeah, well, this what I found when I looked up race reports for the 1000 Miles.👍

Then I'm stumped. Usually you don't get that bad chassis skewing for atleast a couple of thousand k's.

Hm... flyingkiwi, the pull to the right may be a result of the controller getting out of calibration. I know when you turn on the console and you have the steering input not completely straight, the car can pull the direction it was turned for the first couple of laps, but then that will go away pretty soon. I can't imagine what might cause it at the end of a race like this, though. Do you use a controller or a wheel?

Personally, for the 1000 Miles! championship, I have yet to have had a more pleasant race than in the Elan S1 (regardless of its lack of competition). Of course, the '70 Nissan Skyline HT was a blast, not to mention dead stable even on the undulating Nürburgring. It produces something like 160bhp after an oil change, and with a curb weight of around 1200kg, it is a real screamer!

Next up is the '67 Skyline, bone-stock, maybe even on N-grade rubber.

I redid the 1000miles tournament a while back in a stock '63 Corvette Sting Ray. Great race with the E-Type but we killed everyone else.

Yeah, the Merc and I are killing everyone else too. But what surprised me was that the Alfa Giulia was only 2 laps down at the end of the Opera Paris race. It's nimbleness may means that it is quite strong at Monaco. It will get murdered at Le Mans though.

I did the Monaco race, Round 3, last night.

I didn't change anything to the Izuzu. Stock-standard, 126 hp, with normal street tyres.

I qualified on pole with a 2:11.691 by 0.072 seconds!!! How close do you want it!!

34 pts were on offer.

This was a see-saw race if ever there was one. I had two advantages: getting past traffic faster, and cold-tyre speed.
The Merc had the overall advantage in lap speed. I think he did a fastest lap of 2:10.8, compared to my 2:11.2

The biggest lead I had was about 20 seconds. The Merc would then close me down lap by lap so I was never really able to get away. At one stage, the Merc passed me and pulled away as I was on worn tyres before my final pit stop. I had to pit, but on cold tyres I lost more time and was 31 seconds behind the Merc :nervous:

I thought the race was gone, and with it, the championship, since I expect the Merc to win at Le Mans, and thus win the championship on a countback.

Anyway, I started to close on the Merc as his tyres started to wear, and my heated up. With 15 laps to go, the Merc pulled into the pits for the final time and came out JUST in front of me!! I passed him into the first corner and pulled out a massive lead as for some reason he was astronomically slow on his last set of tyres. I criused around the final lap waving to the crowd and, as is my style on good wins, did a massive burnout on the start-finish line. thus winning by 10.902 seconds

It was another great race and I won this on pit strategy (pitting and letting the Merc then deal with his weakness, i.e. lapped traffic).

I thought I had lost it at one stage, and thus I am relieved I never have to do 99 laps of Monaco in a 126 hp car again!!!:)👍

Time: 3:42:03
Fastest Lap: 2:11.2

Completed the series at Le Mans last week.

Stayed in the slipstream of the Merc until lap 12. When I lost the slipstream, I lost all hope and he pulled away to win by over a minute.

Fastest Lap: 5:00.506

I still won the series with 36 points, the Merc getting 28.

Good racing.

good triple posting.., :D j/k

Three good posts over the course of several weeks is acceptable. 👍
What we object to is double or triple posting within a couple of minutes, especially when it's single line, or single word posts, as that's unnecessary and annoying. 👎
Just so we're clear here. ;)
