It has the ring of BS about it, but I'm so often wrong on these things! They cite F1 Racing, who have a very good track record of getting hold of this kind of scoop. Since they're Autosport's sister magazine, the autosport.com site won't steal their thunder, so wouldn't report it for a couple of days anyway. One to watch.

MS to BMW! Ye right! Like I said in the MS to Toyota thread, this ain't gonna happen! It sure is a jite load of money, but Schumi doesn't need it! It sounds like a fairytale!

If Michael did do it though, I would be disappointed!

It won't happen. Feel free to quote me if I'm wrong. But I won't be.

Although, it would be great to see MS and JV on the same team . How many races would that last?

BMW are much better than Toyota , Toyota has one of the biggest budgets in F1 , it has been around for a while and until the last race BMW have outprformed them .

if this deal happens does it mean I have to pay more for my oil service ?? lol

They can throw as much money as they want at MS. He won't leave Ferrari.

Because Ferrari can easily double it.

Plus, I think Schumacher likes those new road Ferraris he gets so rarely.

bad move on BMW's part if its true.

I say this because now shumacher who is regarded as the best driver in the world is contending for the title. Once he steps into the BMW chances are it wont be so.

Public thinking: best driver + not winning = BMW's fault.

Schumacher joined Ferrari when they were a mid-pack team. That certainly turned out well...

I like that BMW is prepared to pay him more than they currently spend on their entire F1 programme at the moment.

EDIT: after reading that, they’re just talking about a $100,000,000 retainer. Still, that is at least 15% of their entire F1 budget (I haven’t got figures on me, but $500,000,000 is probably about what they’re spending, moving it closer to 20%).

How much does Schuey make with Ferrari? I read somewhere that he agreed around 2003 to take a pay cut, so money doesn't seem to bother him that much (though he is still probably paid a lot).

Thanks in no small part to his luring Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne over from Benetton...

Maybe because he no longer has a seat at Ferarri?
