Hi everyone! This is my first post in here :D
I am planning to buy a PS2 next week, and one of the main reasons is GT3, I think its the best car sim game so far. I'd like to know about Gameshark codes, how can I use them, what do I need to use the codes (maybe a external hardware for PS2), how much they cost, and the complete list of hardware I need to use the codes in the games. If I buy a hardware, will I be able to use all the codes for all games? Where can I purchase them? Any advices? And is anyone using these codes and hardware for GT3?
I'm aware of that the best fun will be playing without cheats, but I wanna learn and experiment more on PS2 :) So please share your information with me, and I will very happy. Thanks.

1. gameshark codes are on this site, you enter them in the gameshark game list following instructions from the manual(I did)
2.what you need is a Gameshark 2($50.+-few bucks)
3. If you want to interface with a PC and download data for hybriding(altering cars) you need a Sharkport and I don't have one or know the price, (guessing $50.)
4.Gameshark 2 comes with built in codes for a lot of games
5.Read a lot of the gameshark column in this site and others, gameshark.com and granturismo.com(which will be back online soon)
6.codes so far for GT3 are mostly cheats for race wins and credits but PS2 seems harder to hack than the PSX so there is less "experimental" codes up to now

Thanks for responding so quick! And how about Gameshark 2, is that just plugged in PS2? (using a USB etc?) and if I buy only Gameshark2, (no Sharkport) , will it be enough to enter all the codes for GT3? I want to learn about all these, because I used PSI, and I loved it, but of course its old now, and GT series have always been my favorite game. Thank you very much, and I'm sure I will have further questions. :D

I'm a GT nut too, so
1.Gameshark 2 has a CD and a Dongle(the thing you stick in the memory Card slot.)(no cable, that's with Sharkport) The software is on the CD and the Dongle is the hardware and it fits right in the ol' Memory card slot. It's a tight fit.
2. If your PS2 says "not the right version" or something to that effect you have bought an older version Gameshark because it changed at least once since PS2 was released. Try asking the place you but one to ensure it is the latest version. Not many stores know the difference and I had to call the Interact phone # in the GS manual for an upgrade disc and they were quite helpful in delivering my upgrade(twice!since the first one was cracked by the mail sorters I presume), I also heard the gameshark.com site has a column for support.
3.The GS2 will be enough for all the codes we can get for now

This is sort of true, check out the code list, its like I said cheats for wins and credits although I saw one for "oil change hp" that looks like the start of something.
you can do more with both of them, not together at once,although I have no Sharkport experience it sounds alright, but you need a PC.
