Let's have a GT4 Photomode Salon Show. Give me the best of what your skills can provide. Only the best will be picked for the poll, so do your best and go for gold!

RulesBN-3.jpg

  • Do not vote for your own entry. Doing so will disqualify you.
  • Have confidence in your own photo and don't try to sway the poll.

Please take a really good look at each entry! Don't just go off of the preview!
Look at the work involved as well as the general photography.

Had to go with the Supra. But I was torn btwn the 1st and last. The 2 in the middle I thought were too grainy in comparison.

Voted for the Supra. Great shot. 👍

But there's a little thing (marked red) in the rules that bugs me:

  • Previews should be no larger than 400 pixels along the longest side - be it vertical or horizontal - and should not have more or less effects than the full size image.

is said in the rules...

hmm, i didn't see that. we'll see what the hosts have to say. bram might or might not get penalised

Oh, I didn't know we weren't allowed to put some single text in a preview anymore :dunce: Up to the host on the decision, if required I can remove the text and re-upload the preview image. But I really don't think people wil vote for me over the others just of the word "Supra" ;)

It gives a special touch to your shot, which can't be found in the other entries. Anyways, the host has to decide. If this was my competition, I'd leave it as it is or say that Bram should post a preview picture without the word "Supra" on it. 👍

it's just graphics anyways. who cares. the preview picture is within the boundaries too, so i don't really see how that's illegal. maybe if it was on the car, then yeah. we'll see. but i think this could just slide

Just for additional info: preview image size is 300X384, so I'm not crossing the 300X400 borderline ;)

I don't really see the word "supra" as an effect, in a few previous competitions the text was just considered as a signature. So Bram used Supra as a signature, and applied the 'signature' only to his preview. I don't think it is a real big deal, and doesn't change the image either way.

So I don't think there should be any penalty, unless public floggings are allowed, and in that case I'm in.

Well, what should have happen as a penalty to the preview having more or less effects than the original, was the host to upload a smaller preview (let’s say, 300 or 200 px to the largest side).
Since that wasn’t done, I would say leave it to it.

Anyway, it’s Minolta decision in the end, but for future outcomes, I would suggest that the preview would NOT have more and less effects than the actual full size image.

I think we can let this slide, but in future competitions, will not be tolerated! It does add something to the shot but I say it is ok for now only, as just a warning to people in the future, not allowed!

A signature... If it was a signature, it could be found on the full size image, too. ;)

Anyways, I'd say let this slide. 👍 But next time the entry should be taken off from the poll or thelike. 👍

Well it adds something to the thumbnail, but all these images should be judged strictly on the full size version, which is why I don't think the rule really applies. I really don't see text as an "effect", I could see if the thumb was altered differently in Brightness, contrast, hue, color balance, or in another way that drastically changes the shot, which is not really the case here.

But then again, that is the rule and in the future hopefully we can catch this before a poll.

Unless someone thought their signature would take away from the shot, so decided not to use the signature on the full-size, but still wanted to personalize the entry in the thumbnail by providing a signature. I have faced that dilemma in the past, but I decided to use the signature on both to the entry's detriment.

^^Would the above scenario be allowed? I'm curious for future competitions.

Either way, we all need to keep an eye on the entries, and catch rule violations before the poll, so there is the opportunity to fix it. Specially with the handful of newer entrants in these competitions, I'm sure more rules will get simply overlooked in the future. If we catch it early it saves a lot of arguments and heated emotions.

Wow, thanks for all the votes guys! It's good to finally win another competition, albeit many weeks after a previous entry  I thought MinoltaMan had it bagged up, I certainly never expected so many votes!
