2.03: engines can now be stalled

When using clutch + h shifter (g27) you can now stall the engine, as tested with the 3rd DLC pack cars (the leaf correctly doesn't shut down) and with a premium honda s2000.

Also you can now change gears with the accelerator pedal pressed down at a maximum of about 1/4.

Both are superb additions to the game. Great work PD 👍 (for GT6 it could be added an engine start button though, which is also useful when going to the pits)

You could always stall. It's even to easy to stall in GT5, in real life you can slowly start using no throttle at all, just clutch modulation, in GT5 your engine will stall if you'll try that.

I think this is because the clutch is simulated as an on/off switch rather than a friction point, as in real life.
 
really? never noticed that, maybe it was the excitement when trying the v12 vantage.

what was certainly added to the game though is the ability to change gears with the accelerator pedal pressed a bit, especially if the car doesn't lose turbo boost.

Meh... you can change gears while fully on the accelerator in real life. Not that you would do it, but still...

It's basically changing gears without realeasing the throttle.
Adds more acceleration but may (and most likely will) ruin your transmission.

IN GT5 there is no mechanical damage/breakdown so I think you can use this to your advantage. Even though this is a technique to shave some time, I doubt it is used in real life racing, or rarely is used.
 
It became easier to stall your car in 2.0 update. You can stall easily by shifting into a gear at a standstill and hitting the brake. Should be able to do it by shifting into gear without giving gas as well. Haven't seen the herky jerky movement that happens when you shift into gear but don't release the clutch correctly while giving too little gas. Funny to watch in real life as the occupants get throw back and forth in the cab. Come on PD put the power shift back in, DS3 has the advantage of quick shifting and no misshifts, easier time when losing control. All wheel drivers get are penalties, missed shifts, and a world of trouble trying to save a car from a spill.

Holding the throttle flat open and flicking the clutch while changing gears.

Pros: faster gear changes with power
Cons: box won't last long

Do it on someone else's bike lol
 
you can powershift almost any standard transmission. Hold the throttle open and shift before your normal shifting point or else youre going to be redlining during the clutch drop. GT does not allow powershifting with the pad, it lets off for you.
 
It is very annoying, that GT5 doesn't have that. It is just awful, when drifting and trying to shift gears during that and you can't get into gear. :(

This should be fixed too. It is just silly, that you can have cluch pressed, accelerator at full and can't get it into a gear, like in any normal car with manual transmission.
 
Actually I think ds3 users can stall. There is another way to stall the engine. Find a short straight, accelerate, shifting into 4,5, or 6th gear. Then get on the clutch, then the brake pedal(keep both pressed) until the car stops via braking. After that the rpms flatline and pressing the throttle does nothing.
