Welcome to the 2.3 Sports Car Championship Warm up races

If you're reading this thread and have not already joined up you've not got long to join in what will definetily be a great season of close races with the widest variety of cars any OLR championship has ever seen:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=81956

Now, on with the heats...

OK, race 2 of 2 will take place at Circuit de la Sarthe II We're going to hold one qualifying session for all 2 heats.

To take a qualifying session, try and do the best possible lap you can in a practice session.

When doing a lap, simply try not to hit anything, or anyone, or go off course...thats all folks...basically, the rules that you get in the license tests are pretty much the way here as well.

Aside from going off course, the rules are identical for the race, but obviously, please dont cheat.

For the race, you can enter a race meeting and use the out lap as your warm-up lap, to your warm up race.

The heats are as follows:

Heat #1: A three lap sprint
Heat #2: An eight lap race

The reason for all these races are just to try and figure out what length races best suit our tourney. But don't worry!! After this there will only be one race per round!

After each race, go over your replay and record your TOTAL time on a piece of paper or whatever (as opposed to actually recording it, although we would like you to save your replay for at least a week after submission, in case we need to check it).

PLEASE PM YOUR TIMES TO DANISFAST OR MYSELF!! YOU CAN POST PROGRESSION TIMES BUT YOUR FINAL TIME MUST BE PM'ed!!

Qualifying starts 26th of June and ends on 30th of June.

The Race Submission times are welcome anytime between 1st of July and 5th of July

Here is how the points are going to be distributed

1st=13points
2nd=10points
3rd=8points
4th=6points
5th=4points
6th=3points
7th=2points
8th=1point

Whoever qualifies pole gets 2points extra.

Good luck, if there are any questions, if I've missed anything or for whatever reason you fancy, please feel free to post here.

Thank You again to all those who are taking part!
Dunda

qualifying laptimes for le mans.

csl 3.33.356 @ top 199 mph (524/1218/2.324)
rs4 3.33.255 @ top 204 mph (627/1344+99/2.300)

dunda told me to try a heavier csl setup (no wr3=+41k, +12hp) and it instantly gave me a better laptime. way to go joe!
EDIT1 also did the joe-thing to the rs4 and came up with a 3.3secs faster lap. i'll keep trying.
EDIT2 after fiddling a bit even came under the csl time with the rs4.

got some times to post

BMW M5 - 3'18.794
power - 761kw
weight - 1751kg (no weight reduction with a 36kg ballast)
power to weight ratio - 2.301
(top speed= 370kmh/231mph)

BMW M3 gtr (No times yet)
power - 622kw
weight - 1431kg (no weight reduction with a 81kg ballast)
power to weight ratio - 2.300

Heavier definitly works on the bigger tracks, youre always going to need those extra horses on the back straight. I gained like 6secs just by increasing the power and weight.

Edited post.

I'll be doing laps Asap

Right, just to clear up any confusion, ALL TIMES THAT YOU WANT TO BE COUNTED IN FUTURE RACES (INCLUDING THIS ONE) AS A SUBMISSION...........MUST BE PERSONALLY MESSAGED TO EITHER DUNDA OR MYSELF.
I received a PM stating that things weren't quite clear on that front. I hope that sorts out any confusion,
Good luck to everyone. We'll hopefully have the race results from Autumn Ring posted soon!!!

I officially have no idea what's going on here.
I know to PM times to DUNDA or Danisfast, but that's about it.
I don't know what cars I have registered, other than the GTO.
I know I qualified 5th for the Autumn Ring heat.
I don't know when to race that race, or how many laps, any information of a deadline, or anything of the sort.
I don't know how/what to do to register my Team name, car #, car HP, Weight, and pwr/wt ratio. I think I did the first two, but I know I've never put in the 2nd two.
I DO know qualifying for this heat has begun.
I DO know I want a Z06 to be my second car.
And lastly, I DO know that I want to know what's going on.

On second thought, I'll simply figure both cars out, and send both of you a PM, with all neccesary information, that I have. For cars, and for this qualifying time.

"I don't know when to race that race, or how many laps, any information of a deadline, or anything of the sort."

You are joking right? Come on man, your letting the team down!!! :D

Firstly, Thanks for the vote of confidence zefff Bigracer, it makes a difference.
LeadSlead#2,
lol, Yes the large number of threads has caused a small amount of confusion, but hopefully this will answer ALL of your questions,
OK Dont worry about the Autumn Ring races, they are OVER. Now, THESE HEATS ARE AT CIRCUIT DE LA SARTHE, on which qualifying has begun. When you've done a time that you are happy with (whether it be racing or qualifying), PM it to DUNDA or myself.

QUALIFYING TIMES ARE DUE IN BY: 30th June (you only have to submit ONE lap)
RACE TIMES ARE DUE IN BY: 5th July (that's BOTH races)

Please read the first post in this thread again for details on the number of laps, or anything not covered here.

THINGS WE NEED TO KNOW:
The make and model of your car(s)
Power of your car(s),
Weight of your car(s),
the Power-to-weight ratio of your car(s),
The Team you would like to be in(s),
The numbers you wish to have on your car(s)

ALL the details you will need (thats power, weight and the power-to-weight ratio) are available in your garage where all your cars can be catagorised.

If you wish to be precise, get a calulator or use your noodle and divide the weight by the power. That will give you the power-to-weight ratio of your car.

Then choose a number for your car. whatever you want so long as no one else has already chosen it.

You are already in Mach 10's Sling Shot Racing team. If you wish to change teams, then PM either DUNDA or myself.

The cars you have registered ARE CURRENTLY:
A Corvette ZO6,
A Pontiac GTO 2004

You may change whatever cars you like by the 2nd July, that is the date when we seal the teams.

Basically, you may submit EVERYTHING, thats times, car details, team details, EVERYTHING by Personal Message to DUNDA or myself.

DUNDA has set up a thread Specifically for anyone who is not sure on what details they need to submit for the up and coming season, which LeadSlead has already followed so it obviously works.

Hope all of that has helped,
Danisfast

for the 3- and 8-lappers we are using the race meeting thingy. this means that we have to deal not with tyre wear but with an emptying fuel tank and ai cars. could the race stewards please indicate how to deal with those?
- if you need to fuel up during the 8-lapper, do you need to count those laps (2 will be extra slow) for your total time or can you skip them (run 11 laps and take out 8 good ones)
- can you slow down during heatup round and profit from ai drag?
- how about ai hitting

if this is getting too difficult to agree and check on, i suggest we keep using practice rounds and just put down those laptimes. no hassle on fuel and ai over there mates!

also i'd like more precise indications about the allowance of off-track racing and wall hitting.

The AI really messed with me at Autumn Ring, coming upto the bridge before the huge corner I was behind a Speed 12 who lost it and bounced off track, into the wall and back across my path! Couldnt help but T-bone him.

I actually enjoyed having to navigate safely and quickly through the pack but fuel will be a problem in 'race meeting' as when you go for a refuel it just quits the run.

This is the Sarthe II thread, autumn ring is over, read Zeff read

Hahaha!

'Read' my post and you'll see I mentioned Autumn Ring in past tense using a regular verb. I was simply recalling my experiences from the last race so chill Dunda, chill. :D

LMAO It was pretty funny watching them run into things though...man those AI still suck...probably more than they did in GT1, come to think of it...Anyway, as for the circuit de la Sarthe race, yes we also have come across these problems, (god bless warm-up races) and have taken a new course of action, that is to knock the required laps down to six. it should mean that everyone can get to the finish. It pisses me off that these things are STILL a problem with the GT games...sorry to all of those who've experienced this fault in our tournament. IF you think your car might not do six race laps, or it'll be a close one, then try and go VERY slowly during your warm-up/ out lap. If your car still cannot manage the full race distance then we'll knock it down to five.

I am sad to announce I will have to take a 1 month sabatical. I have a broken hand and its not healing because of GT4. I am forced to stop playing to let the bone heal, sorry. Am I okay to rejoin in 1 months time? If not its cool.

tough luck man. hope your hand gets well soon & see you in a coupla weeks.

my hands are fine :) and i gave the multilappers a first go. EDIT 2/7: 16 SECOND IMPROVEMENT ON MY SECOND GO !!! edit 3/7: added laptimes after consultation with the race stewards.

1 t2 1.10.771 t4 1.54.138 lap 3.36.847
2 t2 1.10.528 t4 1.54.166 lap 3.36.625
3 t2 1.09.970 t4 1.53.703 lap 3.35.120
total time 3 laps 10.48.592
4 t2 1.09.435 t4 1.53.355 lap 3.35.780
5 t2 1.10.119 t4 1.53.739 lap 3.34.873
6 t2 1.10.682 t4 1.57.293 lap 3.38.788 (very slight off at end of straight)
total time 6 laps 21.38.033

@ my topspeed (auto 25 & slightly downward final ratio, kept at 5th in end of straight) was 208.
@ i lapped ai nr.6 in the final lap.
@ my fuel was marked 4 little dots so a lap 7 and 8 would have been no problem but scary to keep up.

need to know from the stewards if slight offs that work not to your advantage are allowed or not? for these multilappers i suggest a YES as long as there is no wall hitting.

No worries.

Just for the record I managed to get my hot lap in the Evo down to 3.30.something in the end.

dunda gracefully - thanks teammate! - shared his csl settings with me so it was time for another go at the sacred grounds of le mans. the start of lap 4 gave me a big off so it just counts for the 3-lappers. it's a 5 second improvement to the one i gave below so it's worth putting down.

1 t2 1.10.505 t4 1.54.028 lap 3.34.944
2 t2 1.10.841 t4 1.54.011 lap 3.34.281
3 t2 1.09.997 t4 1.54.001 lap 3.34.393
total time 3 laps 10.43.618

topspeed - 204 (higher speed thru lower fuel from laps 4 onward only), auto settings at 17.
these settings are even better (better handling tho a tiny bit slower) than the ones he gave me based on the m5.
funny thing is that while zefff has a broken hand, i somewhat seriously cut my left thumb while working in the kitchen yesterday, which sort of takes the feeling out of steering for me. but a little pain won't stop me from gt4ing!
i might give it one more go before tomorrow's deadline but it looks like no more very big improvements from my side.
so to the other 2.3 players: where are you?

edit 5/7: 3-lap and 6-lap time submitted to dan and joe, but wondering vey much where all the teams have gone.

I've played so much bloody Gran Turismo that my thumbs cant last any longer than twenty minutes in one go now before they begin to ache...

Well thankfully, the majority of the racers are still checking in every so often, though you are not required to submit a time for the warm-up races, we are a little bit concerned as to WHERE EVERYONE HAS GONE!!! IF you're reading this, have signed up and are still interested, the season kicks off next next week. YOU NEED TO SUBMIT INTO THAT OR YOU'LL FALL BEHIND IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP!!
Thank you and please for gods sake people let us know whether you're still interested instead of just not turning up for anything!!! As a final note, we're putting the whole race format under review, so if you've got any suggestions, we'd like to hear 'em
Danisfast
