Welcome to the interest thread for;
THE 2.3 SPORTS CAR CHAMPIONSHIP
THE MOST DIVERSE CHAMPIONSHIP ON GTPLANET!! NO OTHER SINGLE CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP HAS SUCH A VARIETY OF CARS!
Welcome to the TWO-POINT-THREE Sports Car Championship! You'll be pleasantly surprised to see that quite a few cars fit into this tournament...whether they be Nissan 200SX or Aston Martin Vanquish...the number of eligable cars is well into the hundreds. They'll all be the same power to weight ratio, meaning although lighter cars will do well on the technical circuits, and heavier ones will have more BHP, thus more speed, the tournament will be quite closely contested, even with a wide variety of cars(eg a Suzuki GSX-R 4 competing with a Lotus Esprit V8, or an FPV GT, or an NSX).
If you are interested;
Any Questions, interest or ideas, please feel free to post away!

GENERAL RULES
The general rules for this tournament are as follows:

1. You MUST NOT use a racing or tuner car. Anything else is OK.
2. Nitrous Oxide (that's NOS) MUST NOT be used as it is illegal in this championship.
3. YOU MAY USE ANY FORM OF TUNING AT YOUR DISPOSAL that you think will help your chances, so long as it does not conflict with any of the other rules.
4. The minimum power-to-weight ratio in this tournament is 2.300 bhp/kg. At no point during any racing season can your car be under the TWO-POINT-THREE limit. A factor that, however slightly, does affect power is the oil change ability on Gran Turismo 4. In the even that your car does slip under the TWO-POINT-THREE limit, simply add a big enough ballast to compensate. Alternatively, you can drop the power to comply with the championship rules. If you do change any settings, which affects power or weight, you MUST let us know by either directly informing us or simply including it with a submission.
5. You MAY have up to two cars per driver and six cars per team. There will be both a constructors and a drivers championship table.
6. The "SWAP 'N' CHOP RULE": This rule allows you to change cars during the course of a season. You may change your cars if:
A. After two races, you have two cars and wish to change ONE of them.
B. if you are only driving one car and wish to change it, you may do so every three races.
C. Inbetween seasons, you may change as many times into as many cars as you wish.
7. Any submissions for each round MUST be submitted to whoever STARTS the thread.
8. If you wish to register, there is a thread designed specifically for this purpose and you will find it in the short race series forum (thats this one)
9. The points system is being updated constantly to suit the numbers in this successful tournament and currently run as follows:
1st=45points
2nd=40points
3rd=36points
4th=32points
5th=28points
6th=25points
7th=22points
8th=19points
9th=16points
10th=14points
11th=12points
12th=10points
13th=8points
14th=7points
15th=6points
16th=5points
17th=4points
18th=3points
19th=2points
20th=1point
Whoever qualifies pole gets 4points extra.
10. After one of our racers has decided not to take part themselves in a few of the races, we've decided to make everyone aware that the use of B-Spec is allowed. Though you should be warned that B-Spec will be WAY off the race pace.

SO IN REVIEW:
Don't use NOS,
Don't use a racing or tuner car,
Your car cannot have a power-to-weight ratio lower than 2.300 bhp/kg
ANYTHING ELSE IS OK!!!

QUALIFYING RULES

When attempting a qualifying session this is what you'll need to know:

1. You MUST NOT have more than two wheels off the track at any one time.
2. The rumble strip is part of the track.
3. You MUST go into a practice session to attempt your qualifying time.
4. You MUST NOT hit any walls during your fast lap.
5. You MUST save your replay incase we need to check your times. If you don't have MAX drive or any other GTplanet approved gear, then we will work something out.
6. Any times submitted outside of the given period for each round WILL NOT be counted.
7. If you break any of these rules your time will be invalid.
8. Every row of the grid will have two cars. You will recieve a time penatly of one second increments on to your total race time for every row after the front one. So, if you qualify on the third row of the grid you'll receive a two second penalty. If you qualify on the six row of the grid you'll receive a five second penalty and so on.

RACE RULES

When Attempting a race this is what you'll need to know:

1. You can fall off of the track, but you MUST NOT gain any kind of position or time. If your car goes off outside of a gravel trap area, then slow down to 30 KPH or 18 MPH until you are back on the track.
2. You MUST NOT have serious or multiple contact with other cars on the track (that is a serious smack or bump drafting). If you do have serious or multiple contacts with a car, you MUST come to a complete stop before carrying on with your race. We understand that sometimes the CPU drive like idiots, so in that event if you feel the accident was not your fault, then you MUST carry on as if nothing had happened, even if you fall off of the track outside of a gravel trap area.
3. You MUST avoid heavy contact with walls, mild contacts like a light brush are considered minor and will be tolerated but any sort of smack with a wall and you MUST come to a complete stop before carrying on with your race. Again, if the CPU's highly intelligent system is at fault, then you MUST carry on as if nothing had happened.
4. You MUST do your race in either a practice session or a race meeting. For some unknown reason, the race meeting does not count your total time, so have a calulator at hand (curse PD!!). (It's recommended that you use the race meeting as fuel is used).
5. You MUST save your replay incase its really good and we need to steal your racing secrets!! Nah seriously if we get any outlandish times, as in the qualifications, we'll need to have some way of verifying your times.
6. Any times submitted outside the given period for each round will NOT be counted.
7. If you break any of these rules your classification will be marked with a DNF status.

SUBMISSION RULES

This final section of the TWO-POINT-THREE rules, includes a very simple outline of how, what, where, to whom, you should submit anything to:

1. You MUST "PM" Every submission. For example, if you wish to submit a race time, or even a qualifying time, it MUST be "PM"ed.
2. Qualifying times MUST be submitted via "PM", we only need your total time and it MUST be "PM"ed.
3. Race times MUST be submitted via "PM", we only need your total time and it MUST be "PM"ed.
4. Any non-race or qualifying submissions may be made wherever you see it as most appropriate. IE - Joining the championship or updating your settings, can be made in the registration thread. Or as with the race Submissions, you can also "PM" it to either DUNDA or myself. Both of us will update you as far as possible (DUNDA checks in every second day, and I on a similar basis).
5. The closing dates are the last days you can enter, you MUST submut before 00:00 GMT the following day in order for your time to count.
6. If you wish to register, you can find out what you need to submit in the 2.3 Registration thread, which is in this section of the forums.

Best of luck to all who take part,
Danisfast & DUNDA

So you wanna have two cars in the championship?? IF thats what you mean I'm sure we can work something out, I think two will have to be the maximum number of cars one person can have, and they'll have to be in the same team, so as not to cause a conflict of interests. Hey, it might just make things interesting.You're also welcome to have a team of up to six cars (eg, TEAM ASTON MARTIN, which consists of say, four people, one driving a DB9, one driving a Vanquish, another driving a DB7 and the fourth guy driving a Vantage, because in my tournament, its actually possible to do that and still keep it fairly even) and if we get more than one team, I'll have a "Constructor's Championship" to measure the success of the teams as well as the individual drivers.
BTW, as a guidline for others, the average Skyline, at minimum weight, should get up to somewhere between 520bhp-600bhp, depending on what model you get.

I'll be regularily updating this thread, so any questions let me know. wasace96, if you could leave me the name of your team, and the EXACT car(s) you wanna use, I'd be grateful...I'll probably add my entry as well in the next few days, just to get the ball rolling.
Thanks
Danisfast

So are you still goin to be running this comp, I was going to set up a comp just like this but I stumbled upon yours, please pm me if you still running it,

if you are Ill be entering my:
BMW M5 #69(Team Stimulator)
RX7 Spirit type R #13(Team Stimulator)

BTW when's the first race

I'll enter this if I can't get into Pink_The_Flyods

Please assign numbers to your cars gentlemen... You cant pick 1, 2 or 3.
I'll update this thread very soon. As for the races, they'll hopefully begin by the end of this month, after Le Mans. But I gotta say I'm into football, so if England are still in the world cup, I might forget.
All the best,
Danisfast

Come on guys, join us, this is going to be a hell of a series, how many chances do you get to go all out on your favourate cars (unlike every other comp on the ORL).
Join us, the more of you that join the better the comp is goin to be.

GN+, if you're looking to join a team, feel free to pm anyone already in the tourney and request to join their team, alternatively, you're welcome to join mine!!
You could also start your own team. You're allowed two cars per driver.
Thanks
Danisfast

I would like to thank everyone who responded to my private message and would like to welcome you to our competion. Hope you enjoy yourselves, We should be posting a warm up race soon, so get ready.

I pity those who are going to miss out on this comp

Let me know the schedule, also what rules are being used to confirm lap/race times? I'd need to get GT4 back off my mate before I could pick a car and say if I'd take part or not but consider me interested.

I might take you up on that!

Hey guys, thanks for the invite Dunda, great comp. Im going to be entering my
Jaguar XJ220 ROAD CAR---#666
TVR TUSCAN Speed6---#999
I am going to join Dunda under the team name---TEAM STIMULATOR

Hope to kick some ass
PM me when you'll decide on a warm up race

I have time, so here is my information.
Team: Slingshot Racing
My Car:#10 Dodge VIPER GTS '99

Open to a driver that wants to join my team. I have small amounts of time to play, so I can't really race two cars myself.:grumpy:
Hoping we all have a great racing season!

GN+: I might take you up on that!
jammyozzy: Mind if I join your team Dan?

Sweet. You guys are both welcome to be in my team! Welcome to Anglo-Nippon Racing! GN+ What car do ya wanna drive?? #, etc.

Speedracer 13, While the TVR you wish to enter is fully legit(oh BTW, is that a Tuscan Speed 6, or a Cerbera Speed 6??) , we're not sure the S2000 GT1 can enter, because it is a tuner car. Our main concern is among others, it can generate too much downforce (more than say, 30-35, like other cars can). Basically, we think it would gain an unfair advantage...If we get more than, say three people wanting to use tuner cars, we'll open up another class to accomodate. But worst case scenario is that the only car you can use is an ordinary S2000...If that turns out to be the case, will that be OK with you??

Finally, in the next 24 hours, I'll have details for a warm-up race. We'll try a short race, and then a longer one in the next fortnight to help us decide what kind of races to run during the course of the season.
BTW if you like enduros, check my Motegi thread listed below as everyone who enters this, will have a legit car for that event as well.
Thank you to everyone who has, are about to, or will enter our championship.
Danisfast

No details on lap/time confirmation yet. Will get back to you in next few days.
For now we'll just have to rely on good hard honesty!!!
Thanks

No problem.👍
I'm not too skilled and don't really see myself placing first, so I'm okay.
By the way, my car number is 10.

I'd say leave the tuner cars out because some are race cars and some arn't, but then some like the S2000 GT1 are debatable, they perform like race cars but they don't compete in any races irl, but then irl you don't pop to the Amuse dealership and buy one either.

Hey guys, Ive changed my post so you dont have to worry bout my S2000GT1, but it is a kewl car though, although I know that you could challenge it with a skyline or spyker.

So have a look at my new choice, it is completly inside the rules.

Its great to see so many competators, in about a month we're really going to have a following, please guys spread the word, put a link to this comp on your signature so that every time you post people will know what we are doing here.

Glad to help out the cause.👍
So, how about a warm up race in a few days? I have a track sugestion. How about Trial Mountain? It's got a speed section for that faster cars and a lot of small corners for the less powered cars, so it's pretty balanced out.

hey mach 10, got some good news for you, danisfast will be posting the warm up races tonight and it should be running at full speed tomorrow, we also got a few surprises for you guys, but Ill wait for danisfast to post it.

cant wait to race!!!

OK, very soon i'll be running a warm-up race thread...we've decided to do a few races...Just to try and get the feel of the tournament before we really get things going. Just to clear up a few things...
We've decided that alongside race cars, tuner cars are also ineligable. Though thats just for now as they're often debatable as to whether or not they are in fact race cars.
Also, I'll be asking that everyone PM me or DUNDA with details for their car...We'll be needing details before the first qualifying session of round one...so theres no rush. But we will be needing everyones before we commence.
In your details, we will need:
#,
Power(BHP),
Weight(KG),
Also, we'd like to know that if your time does look outlandish, or you finish in the top three, that we maybe able to check your times...However we're not too fussy and we'll quite happily take a variety of replay confirmations.
Other specifications will be added if we find the need to include them. But for now thats it.

THE TRANSFER WINDOW

Finally, we've decided, thanks to yet another stroke of brilliance from DUNDA to include a new rule...We're going to include an option whereby you can change cars mid-season...
Now this takes a bit of explaining but basically, if you are running two cars, in order to keep things 'fresh', you may switch a car every three races, if you run one car, you may switch cars every six races (which is ATM a full season). This will enable people to swap and chop untill they find the right car for them.
It also means if you find you're getting a bit bored of your car, you can simply change it...just fill in another specification form (the one above) and PM me with it. From the next transfer window onwards, that car is yours!!

Now, on with the races....
