I have been doing some Endurance races lately and one of the cars i won in bspec for the 1st bob'durance was a Honda Dual-note. This car didn't seem like anything special at 1st but then i looked at the description, it turns out this car has a (from memory) V6 engine producing about 300hp when upgraded i got it to about 550hp. the interesting thing about this car however was the front wheels were powered by separate electric motors which was the equivalent of 175hp(from memory) effectively making this car a 4WD. Each time the driver brakes it would be converted to power for the electric motors.
So i got bob to use it in an endurance. the car performed well enough apart from fuel economy. I thought i would have a massive advantage over everyone else because i simply wouldn't have to go pit for fuel, i also had medium tyres on so they could last the distance and was planning on only using 2 drivers with 1 pitstop as apposed to the regular 4 stops.
My Honda Dual-note however seemed the use the same fuel as every other car i had previously tried at this track and i have had cars over 1000hp here.
So my 1st question... Has anyone else tried a hybrid car for endurance races? if so did you experience a difference or not in fuel economy? (im starting to suspect its the track/race that determines the fuel economy not the car...sounds crazy i know)
My other question, Has anyone actually run out of fuel? what happens?, is it race over... or do you sputter along to the pit-lane
I was cutting it extremely close, i mean it was running on fumes. Personally i would like it to be pretty much race over. If you want to play the game then accept the consequences.. still be able to roll the car as far as you can but i would hate to see a miraculous endless(but small puddle) of fuel.
To me, not knowing if i had enough to make it those last 2 laps was absolute thrilling but if there's no consequences and you do just sputter along then that really takes away all of the excitement
