I'm sure there's a lot of people here who are just car nuts in general. I drove by these two old cars the other day. Could anyone please identify them for me?

Oh gawd what are they doing there, rotting to death? :( Hopefully the owner will restore them or something.

'cuda, definetly, but I don't think Challengers have dualie headlights.

i think that might be an AMC of some sort, but their door-handles have the grip in the back. I'm gonna go look it up in my car refrence book
*looks* yup, first gen challenger, and possibly first year, too! nice memory, holden

Turbo Lag: this is common as mud, even around here. though nowadays, it's commonly eighties pickups and SUV's, and the occasional late 70's chevy or ford cars around here, this happens a hell of a lot. often as not, people won't even bother with a major collectable once it's been parked. these are the cars that are most often NOT ended up in a junkyard.

my stepfather threw away every one of his kid's muscle cars when the left them behind, and three of mine went into the recycle bin, too.
he threw out the following
late 60's sattelite and 'cuda (with the round taillights)
late 70's leBaron (still with new paint on it)
'76 Maverick (complete with hot rod engine under the hood, yet!)
78 or 9 LTD II
he's also traded up
73 dart Swinger HT
67 Coupe De Ville convertible and a Sedan de Ville for parts (he couldn't be bothered to fix the carb)
30 Dodge Senior (series) 6 (244/4.0 flathead six)

sorry, but in the states, as us natives well know, cars are as much a disposable item as styrafoam cups!

The back half was a dead give away on the Dodge, and I knew it wasn't another Cuda. So is Propa McGanda going to save them? Otherwise this thread seems kind of pointless now we answered the question.

Actually, there's three wrecks in that picture ;)

I'm going to go over there and see if the guy will sell them. How much would a hunk of unrestored muscle car be worth? o_o I wants them no matter what the cost!

The 1 with single head lamps is a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda. The other seems to be a 1970 Dodge Challenger.

It's a '73 Challenger. The '70 had a different grille

As you can see, the '70's grille is more square, (Like the '09,) and not rounded at the top, like that.

EDIT: I take that back: that one could be as early as a '72, but no earlier.

I'm a little surprised how many people misidentified these cars. The one closest to the camera is a '72-'74 Challenger. It's kinda hard to pinpoint an exact year, as the bumper and grill are missing. But it's definently not a '71 or earlier. The one furthest from the camera is a '71 'Cuda. It's missing the two inboard headlights which is a little decieving, but if you look closely, you can see where they used to be. Look at the grill, only the '71 models had that style grill.

Couldn't be worth much, I say don't go over $1000, and even that sounds steep to me. But I could be wrong.

Me too; I'm 14 and I knew immediately.

when you've been to a zillion car shows as a teenager, all muscle cars start to look alike (I personally got sick of looking at a zillion Chevelles). I don't worry about small details like the grumbles posted by nitpickers for the right year. it's a car I'll never even SIT in, let alone sample drive. heck, I just got my first ride in a third gen Camaro within the past 6 months.
