Re:GT4 - Arcade / 2 Player Battle

Ok, I've had this game for months now. It has to be a glitch in the game.

It doesn't matter if I have TCS and ASM on for Arcade mode, but If I start a 2 player battle between me and my friend (choosing cars from my garage), the cars have like absolutely no traction.

Example: If I whip out my M5 fully modded against say an Audi RS6 fully modded, on any track...when the race counts down, 3, 2, 1, start... the cars sit in the box burning out the tires until i upshift. I think my M5 can burn all the way through 3rd gear and some of 4th.

Has anybody else had this problem? It cant just be my settings. I'm no noob. I've been playing GT forever since GT1 was released. Even If I put like R5's on the car, which have the most traction, in 2 player battle, the cars still burn the tires out. Its like theres no TCS or ASM on at all what-so-ever.

It kinda sucks cuz when your pounding out like over 700 horse with no traction on a course like Laguna, its pretty hard to keep the car from spinning out all over the place. Especially my Drift Happy M5. = ) And mind you, my Camber is set to like over 5 degrees in the rear alone.

Sorry for the long winded post. Just raving and ranting here.

All I can think of is to check for two type of Option screens.
In the general option you have option for regular (career mode) play and 2player mode. Make sure you've selected the right one and on the right gameplay.

P.S.: Why not try to play it that way ? For a full experience, no TCS and ASM brings you more to a real life situation. When you drive your car in real life, off a stop sign or red light, do you floor it ?

My 2cents.

Drive safely !

Well, I try to turn everything off as much as possible, but with certain cars you can only go so far.

And yeah, even if i touch the gas as soft as possible, it still burns out. But I have noticed that tapping the accel works better, but still slow. :)

Hehe, Im having similiar traction problems. Even after selecting TCS on arcade (2 player) mode multiple times. I lik playing without TCS when rollin by myself, but its get slightly aggravating when my Chevelle and my buddies Cuda are both rolling smoke through the first few gears while attempting a drag race (I always win :D )

I play two player all the time with my mates, but I can't say I've ever noticed this problem. I never use the TCS, but they do sometimes...

Traction can be a problem, as it is in many cars, but not having played around with TCS on/off, I can't tell you the difference off the top of my head.

I'll check it out in depth and get back to you. What version have you got - NTSC or PAL? :)

It sounds like most of you are experiencing the same thing I did in regards to Two Player Battle Mode (TPBM). There is a thread concerning this here:

http://gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=67043

If your TPBM starts working "better" like mine did, you can buy Racing Super Softs in GT mode and they will be used in TPBM, which is very helpful. The driving nannies still don't work, but some people say you can get those to work by doing something weird like select a specific stock car and blah blah blah. You'll find that info in the other thread also.

Anyway, this all probably belongs in the already existing thread (above) concerning TPBM wonkiness.

Im using the US version NTSC

I think tonight im going to fiddle around with some settings to see if it can get any better. Thanks for all your help guys.

OK, my (brief) testing is all done.

I used the Nissan Option Stream Z at Midfield. A car with plenty of wheelspin when it comes on boost.

No TCS:
On the line, give it heaps, select 2nd and dump the clutch. Lots of smoke and not much acceleration. We start moving, then we're off. OK, about what I expected.

TCS on:
On the line, give it heaps, select 2nd and dump the clutch. Not much smoke, and we're off like a rocket. Hmmmmmm. Seems the TCS works here then. There's still a little bit of wheelspin, but nothing major. Even coming out of tight turns, when the turbo boosts the wheelspin isn't enough to step the car sideways.

Maybe it's just your NTSC version. Get some people to do some testing between the versions.

BTW: This was all done on a PAL version... :)

I've had the same problem. I just equipped my car(KPGC10 Skyline GT-R) with RSS tires in GT Mode. I think the car kept those tires for TPBM, because I had tons of grip and didn't lose traction at all.

Keep in mind I had put Sport Softs on this car and occasionally had traction issues on Tsukuba in GT Mode. With the different physics of TPBM, grip is reduced even further. Having so much traction(on a bumpy track like the 'Ring, no less) means that my GT-R probably had RSS tires in TPBM.

This happened another time as well. My friend was using a stock BMW V12 LMR on Sport Softs, and had wheelspin out the wazoo. I had an 850hp R34 GT-R. There was wheelspin only once, and it was coming out of a tight hairpin at Costa Di Amalfi. Otherwise, there was no trouble at all. My car must have had the RSS tires I put on in GT Mode.
