Anybody like the Two Player Rev Counter?

I personally think it sucks!

Talk about hard for mannual drivers to see when to shift up!

To the trained ear, and an amazingly good driver like me :D, It isn't that hard to know when to shift up. Just listen, and you will learn Grasshopper...

Yeah, but you're listening to the cockpit sound of two cars at the same time. If your friends are anything like mine, they like to race identical cars. That makes it really hard to just listen to the engine.

Have you seen the tackometer in an S2000? It's pretty much the same deal, except it's HUGE and goes all the way across the instrument pannel. I guess it has a little curve to it as well.

Yeah I don't like that thing, especially when I want to be extra precise and shift up right before the needle reaches the rev-limiter. They should have an option for a digital rpm readout.

Also, regarding the issue of another racer to make it hard to judge when to shift based on engine sound, anyone know the reason why in most racing games the engines from both cars aren't heard equally? Its like of the combined sound of both engines, 90% is coming from player one's car and the remaining 10% comes from player two's car. Notice how when player one spins out or something and is coming back up to speed, you can especially hear the car climbing the rpms and hear the drop-off during shifting.

Also, whats up with player two not being able to pause the race

I just use the Shift light on that Tach anyway. I see in the corner of my eye a blinking red light, I have trained my eye to spot that out so I really never have to look at the tach unless I am doing a drag start or I have the time to check the Tach. The combination of the shift light and engine sound knowledge and you will become a master.
