OK so the first race will be on 18th of March , can't wait been so long since I watched an F1 race .

so what are your predections ? we've seen test time...ect .

Ferrari and McMerc are doing well until now .
Redbull and Renualt aren't as fast as everybody excpected .
BMW and Williams looks like they have improved allot .
I really haven't noticed Toyota's times
and Honda seems to be improving .

For the first race this the order of the top 10 cars without the drivers.

1.Ferrari
2.McMerc
3.Ferrari
4.McMerc
5.BMW
6.Renualt
7.BMW
8.Williams
9.Renualt
10. Williams

:D:D this could all chnage when first race comes .

McLaren have the fastest car, but I heard early on that they were struggling with race pace. I haven’t heard them say that they’ve fixed this problem, so it will be interesting to see how they do in the races. Especially when against a pit crew and strategists from Ferrari.

Ferrari have what is probably the overall fastest package. A quick car, very quick drivers, and a fantastic race crew. All the bits are there for a fantastic season, they just have to make it happen. They will be up against McLaren who can really make a car begin to sing as development continues into the season, but I don’t expect Ferrari to have problems with development.

I expect McLaren and Ferrari to battle it out for the championship. I think it will be a two-horse race. If they don’t win it’s going to be because of a strange race.

Renault… it’s hard to tell. In theory it should be a very very fast car, but in testing it just hasn’t happened. The drivers? Well I’m not expecting much out of Fisichella. Kovalainen, however, could turn out to be quick.

Honda had a pretty poor start to testing. Their star driver was out for the first weeks of testing, so couldn’t give the team feedback on tyres or new parts on the interim car. Since he got back they’ve started to head in the right direction, but I think they’ve been on the back foot since the start of testing, now they’re playing catch up.

BMW are strong. But I don’t understand why. The car is nothing revolutionary. I believe they adopted a quick-shift gearbox, but almost everyone has one this year. They’re only worth a tenth or so a lap compared to the older F1 gearboxes (I’ve read that it adds up to almost 20 seconds in a race distance, though), so getting it done better than the next guy who has one should be worth even less. The only real reason that I can think of is that their car just works beautifully with the new tyres.

Renault, Honda, and BMW are probably going to be fighting for 3rd in the championship. Expect regular podium finishes. Reliability will be very important for these teams. It will likely be a tough battle over the season.

Next up is Williams. They have to improve on last year. I believe their new car is more reliable (how can it not be?). Last year their car was fast on occasion, so as long as they finish they should be in a reasonable position.

Toyota are just wasting more money in F1. The new car is slow, and they seem to have their reliability problems from last year, where they seemed to have something different break every race. Expect more of the same in 2007. Williams will beat Toyota, and once again they’ll question their commitment to F1.

Red Bull is hard to predict. Last year they were saying the car looked great in the wind tunnel, but since they’ve been on track things haven’t quite gone their way. They’ve been up and down the time sheets, and Coulthard has been complaining about the car. It won’t be a winner this year, but it will be better than last year, and they have to be building towards something in 2008.

Williams, Toyota, and Red Bull have the cars that you don’t want to be in. Too good for the rookies, not good enough for the really quick guys. You’re here because you’re washed up, or because you’re unlucky. Regular points finishes are the order of the day, and the odd podium is all they could ask for in a great weekend.

The rest? Super Aguri and STR could sneak into the points on occasion, and Spyker are boned.

Enjoy your 2007 season, folks. :D

I couldn't help but notice how high you guys are putting the McMercs up in the front.

Anybody remember the last, what, four years? I've never seen a car so ready to leave a hefty contrail behind it as the silver arrows. All of this testing gives us little data about the reliability of these cars. That is why Ferrari will be the uncontested leader of this year's grid. Sure, the M&Ms will have some good days, but they will have more than enough cloudy times to blow up their championship hopes. Kimi was good. Fernando can't do too much more.

That leaves a huge hole for second. My fairly uneducated guess would be the Mclaren points that don't go up in smoke, the BMW squad, who have really seemed impressive, and maybe Renault, as Kovalinnen seems to have potential and Honda, who have been hunting for some success in the recent seasons. Besides, they have global hopes pinned to their cars too.

A few of these will be occupied dealing with Red Bull too. if a few don't make the above group, they will probably wind up here. Williams should not see a spectacular season either.

That leaves the rest to duke it out for, um, last. I would like to see Spyker be top dawg in this group, but that is just me.

I remember the good old late 90's when Mclaren where winning everything... They really need to pick up again!

To me there is there no evident fastest team, both Ferrari and McLaren seem to have the upper hand though however McLaren appear to have the one lap pace whilst Ferrari look more prominent over the longer stints. This may well be due to the new Bridgestone control tyre but either way, it will be a close battle, McLaren may well take the drivers with Alonso but Ferrari should take the teams with their awesome combo of Massa and Raikkonen.

Then behind it's a 3 way scrap for the rest of the points between Renault, Honda and BMW Sauber. Like Blake, I have no idea how BMW are so fast maybe it's the drivers though, Kubica is lightening fast and Heidfeld has raised his game to a new level since Robert's arrival. I expect BMW to edge 3rd place from Renault who should be saved by Kovalinen's pace and possibly Fisichella's experience (Although I wouldn't count on it..). Honda are behind on the development front but do seem to be clawing back to the front end, Button should magae atleast oen win, perhaps at Hockenheim, Barrichello is past his best but should keep the team pointing in the right direction.

Then behind them the 1 pointers, Red Bull, Williams and Super Aguri. Red Bull have a very experienced (and oldest) line up, DC is a reliable driver who still has some pace. Webber I'm concerned about however, it would appear he is already playing down his chances, he should push DC though. Williams look to have found some reliability this season but that still wont stop Rosberg from having the odd mistake or two, hopefully his second year will be more consistant. Wurz was an intresting choice, hasn't raced a season properly for a number of years (6 I think) so I'll be keeping my eye on him to see how he does. I've added Super Aguri to this group because I genuinely believe they are faster than Toyota, Davidson has been on the pace of the Top 10 in alot of tests and the car appears to have good reliability and long run pace. Points should be on the table for them.

Finally the backmarkers consisting of Toyota, Toro Rosso and Spyker. Toro Rosso, fundementally have a good car, a Adrian Newey designed chassis with Ferrari power, but their drivers are so weak! The soon they get Bourdais into the team the better, I'm suprised they have kept Speed after a pretty poor debut season, he was consistantly outpaced by Liuzzi. Liuzzi could have very well have deserved an RBR seat but it would appear Red Bull are dropping their young driver programme. Toyota are destroying themselves with their current line up of Schumacher and Trulli, both are past their best and look uninspired. The car itself looks unreliable and off the pace so they'd be lucky to score over 10 points. Finally Spyker seem to be in a transistional period, if they can keep some continuity and not sell out to yet another buyer, Sutil could be their future star driver, he's outpacing Albers who really needs to prove his worth this season.

So to recap:

1st: Ferrari
2nd: McLaren
3rd: BMW Sauber
4th: Renault
5th: Honda
6th: Red Bull
7th: Williams
8th: Super Agrui
9th: Toyota
10th: Toro Rosso
11th: Spyker

Alonso is my bet for the drivers.

Who expected Red Bull to be fast? They did awful last year and Toyota isn't much better either, and Williams did very very bad last year, 11 points total.

I really hope for Alex Wurz's sake that he has a decent car that he can regularly finish in points like BMW Sauber in 2nd half of the season last year.

As for predictions, I'm hoping Raikkonen with Ferrari wins the first race. Don't count out Renault yet, they've been doing really well for 3 years now and they won the last 2, and they're not dumb, so chances are they have a car that can compete for a win, or at least I think so.

Ferrari FTW! I just hope Massa can put up a good fight with Heidfeld*.

Edit: I meant *Räikkönen. :dunce:

I can see strong performances from Williams, Honda, Ferrari and McLaren but I think Renault will struggle a little and fall a little closer to midfield over the course of the season. As the season progresses it'll become more of a battle between the reds and the mercs, with Alonso, Kimi and Massa being the front runners. Hamilton could bring up some surprises, but I don't expect too much from him in his first season.

Back to Australia...

I could see the top 8 ending this way in terms of teams...I won't guess on drivers because I know my team prediction is bound to be so far out lol

Ferrari
McLaren
McLaren
Ferrari
Renault
Williams
Honda
Honda

I'm looking to Honda as the Dark Horse of 2007. If their season is anything like Button's last six races of 2006, they'll be one to keep an eye on. Likewise BMW Sauber; I wouldn't be surprised if Button vs Kubica becomes one of the more interesting fights as the season progresses.

Otherwise, it will probably be Ferrari vs McLaren all the way. Renault will be there, but I just can't see Fisichella doing anything major, and Kovalainen is untested in racing conditions (as is Hamilton).

Testing means very little. I still have faith in my team (Honda) with hope of winning the whole thing. It doesnt look good now, but you never really know. We all know Ferrari will be strong, probably Renault too. Im unsure about Mclaren and BMW. One of these two teams will be quick in the real races, and I would be surprised if both were.
