Mitsubishi Motors motor sports subsidiary, MMSP, unveils the car that will spearhead its 2004 FIA World Rally Championship campaign, the Mitsubishi Lancer WRC04. A completely fresh design, the new car forms an integral part of a meticulously conceived long-term plan to build on MMSP’s distinguished record in the World Rally Championship. It will compete on all 16 rounds of the series.

I like it, it's pretty mean looking (though I don't especially like the rear wing).

But what I like best about the Evo is that the all-conquering cars that competed in the WRC looked very similar to the Evos you'd see on the street.

This is no group-N hottie, this is a real WRC car, so I understand why it looks different to Evo VIII. I'd just like to think that there'll be an EvoIX that looks just like this little bulldog.

Oh, and the front looks a bit like the Accent WRC to me (perhaps to do with relative size or shape of intake, grill, lights etc?? Not compleetly sure why... looks meaner though!)

Already posted in the WRC section...;)

That will be a cool Rally car. Take that, the new WRX, the 206, and the Skoda, and we will have one decent Rally challenge.

I highly doubt they would put that uglyass spoiler on there if it didnt help aerodynamics. Its gotta serve a purpose, or it wouldnt be there.

Mmmm, I see the next EVO here:
The EVO IX!

And I also thought that they are going for the Colt body. Anyway, this is the last EVO on its platform, maybe Mitsu could come up with either the 5-dr hatchback platform, the traditional sedan platform, or getting rid of the Colt name overseas, and place a Lancer name on a 3-dr hatchback body. Poof! You got yourself a EVO 10!

But what about the rear wing? It's incredibly ugly...

is that real or photochoped, if its real, thats pathetic from mitsubishi, honestly, they can do better than that!!!

Well the wing is ugly but if it makes a better handling car and Mitsubishi starts winning races .... Rally cars could get the bad case of the uglies ... Wait until the RICERS get a look at it hehehe

If you have ever seen a car in the wind tunnel with some smoke released, the air fields hug the body lines of the car, and if you need downforce on the rear of the car, it is better to grab air from both off the roofline and the back window then wait for it to travel further backwards. It helps create more downforce this way, because the longer you wait, the more dispersed the airfield. So try and think of it this way, function before form. It will work much better then wings placed further rearward.

This isnt a show car, its not meant to please aethetically, its meant to go faster than all the other WRC cars, which hopefully, it will do.

the back looks cheap, and the front looks like an is300, but then again its a rally car and not a car meant to be sold to the general public.
