It is time...

Round #1 is here and this week the showdown will be on the Twin Ring Motegi Road Course.

What´s new is that you have the permission to install a rollcage to your Opel, Mercedes, Audi now. Nothing else is legal to use.

Here are the complete settings for the Round:

Arcade Mode Settings (Options):
Race Laps: 20 Laps
Tyre Wear: Mild
Driving Assists: Free
Penalty: None
Time Limit: None

Driving Options:
Transmission: Free
Driving Aids: Free
Tyres: Free
A.I Cars Level: Free

Quick Tune-up:
Power: 0%
Weight: 0%
Top Speed: Free
Driving Aids: Free
Transmission: Free
Tyre Type: Racing
Tyres: Free

The results screen that pops up right after finish dissapears quite fast, so be ready to save it...(take photo & such).

You have one (1) week to submit your time to me (PM). From this Sunday to next Sunday (10/7).

What are we allowed to discuss? Sector times? Fastest lap times?

Also, how clean do you want it? 100% clean (no more than 2 tyres off and no AI contact) or racing is racing (accidents happens but don't do it intentionally)?

you can discuss everything...

Try do your best on the track...thats what I can say...I do this for fun of racing not for crashin things...

just try keep your wheels on the road and all will be good...

Well I started my first run dead @$ tired at 12:30AM, and I used this setup:
I went back to the Legends of the Silver Arrow to win another car because my current one was too illegal to use. So then I bought R2,3 and 4's and the rollcage. I set my top speed at 320 and went to do my 20 laps at Motegi Road Course. I started out in RS's and pitted on lap 4, then went into my RM's and at this point got a fastest lap time of 1:46.8xx I pitted on lap 10 still using my RM's and pitted again at 16 back to my RS's and got a better fast lap of 1:45.716. I don't know for sure if I can say my total time thus far, (so I won't) but I will say I really want to trim off 12 seconds. In 20 laps that should happen....famous last words.

Hi everyone...I´m done for this week! =)

The fastest laptime during the race was 1:48.695, So I can just hope my total time will be good compared to yours...

Cool to se some different strategies allready.
 
Okay so I squeaked in some more time today for another 20 lapper. This time I trimmed another 4 sec off my total time and about .4 (1:45.306) off my fastest lap time. I put the AI to -10 because I'm a big wussie and to get the hell out of my way! I set my top speed at 320 again but next time I'm gonna try 300 even, I may use the extra torque in the sharp turns better, since I have yet to get into the 6th gear it may help. I used the same pit schedule and tires as before as I am pretty sure that will maximize my total time. I had a VERY VERY close call with an AI car at the sharp right turn just before the pits, I dunno how I DIDN'T hit him...lol. This car is just a dream to drive I have absolutely no problem driving 20 SOLID laps with no TCS. Well its off to bed I go.

just had some initial testing in the car.. my first 5 laps or so.. still getting used to the track, taking some different lines... had top set at 280.. she runs in 6th gear wid 600rpm to the redline down the back straight.. fastest lap so far at 1'47'143, stilll have atleast a second to pick up in certian spots, may see a sub 1'45 later on, will give the race a run later on today

futher practising and im down to a best lap of 1'45.134.... by the end of the week hope to have a mid 1'44....
 
Question

If we are in arcade mode, what does it matter how your car is set up? Rollcage, suspension settings mean nothing....

My butt was sleeping when I finished this race.

Great race 👍

I put some soft tires on and had to pit every 5 laps.
Fastest lap was 1'45.412.
Only downfall was I had at least 3 minor excursions on the grass that cost me lots of time to correct.
AI was on -10 with hard tires.

First I had the AI on +10 with soft tires.
But they crashed so many times :lol: and stood often in my way.

For sure I try again and hope for less mistakes.

When JMS RACING is on-line he can put you on the website.
Dead line for this race is Sunday 10-7.(first post)

ran my first 20 lapper about 15mins ago, and it was quite an adventure. started out on RM front and rear and had a best lap of 1'46.328, a fair way of the low 1'45's i was getting in practice, made my first pit stop on lap 7, and put a new set of RM's on, and squeezed out 8 laps on the tires, although they where glowing and was proberly not the smartest of ideas. This left me with the last 5 laps to go do i put a set of RS's on the car. Immediately the times went down, and i squeezed out a 1'45.007 on lap 16.. so close to my goal of 1'44!!! to make matters worse i did a 1'45.043 on the next lap :banghead: . There where a few minor accidents throughout the race, ran wide and ended up in the kitty litter a couple of times on lap 3, and a spin exiting turn 2 WAY to fast on lap 18. With out these minor hicups and some more consistant times, maybe a new stratagy, (4 stops instead of 3) the total time could be improved by about 15-20secs
 
I've done some practice laps. Got down to low 1:46's on RM's. I wish they had tyre wear in time trial so I can figure out my tyre choices. I might race a practice race tonight.
 
regarding tyre wear, u can get 7 laps comfortably with RM's, 8 if you really have to, and 5 with RS's

I'll probably make a late night run one day. Very busy this week with possible looming disaster this weekend. Damn Hurricanes.

I will submit a time though. I will not let my team down.
 
haha thats the spirt, home the hurricane stays away... down in aus i live on the north west gas shelf, and we get our cyclones as there known down here every year between november and march... the big ones can be very bad indeed... good luck.. go team GM
 
I don't know how they rate them down there, but they're predicting a Category 3 storm (111-130 mph). Projected path to come very close to my location. I hope it passes me to the east. If it goes to the west of me, I'm screwed. :nervous: :scared: I'll keep you guys updated.
 
I hope you are safe bluerabbit7. It's been a bad day already.

Why is the screen so dark for this circuit, I mean in terms of brightness. Has anyone else noticed that or is it my TV/PS2 ? All the other cicuits look fine (well lit) using the same TV screen setting. :confused:
 
yes down here there rated cat 1, cat 2, cat 3, cat 4, and a big cat 5, there rated at 300km/h.. which is i think 170mp/h or around there.. good luck
 
@ smaug....the track is set in an evening time so it is a little darker than normal. How dark are we talking here?


Ran a couple races tonight. First one wasn't what I liked it ot be. Best lap was 1:45.7xx. Whole race was done on RM/RS. Pitted on laps 7 and 14.
Second race was much better. Best lap was 1:46.0xx. Slower but laps were more consistant. Only problem was I turned the hairpin into a full circle. :ouch: To make things worse, it was the LAST LAP. :mad: I was a good 20 seconds ahead til that happened. Decided not to finish the race as it would have been slower.

If I can't get another run in tomorrow, this will probably be my time to submit. Must prepare for "Dennis the Menace" (Hurricane). It's now a CAT 4 (135mph/217kph) and still coming in my direction. If that's the case, I will not be online and most likely miss next weeks race.
 
since we are aloud to discuss everything.. what are some of ur total times.. to the nearest minute.. (dun wana give to much away)... from memory i think my best is in the 37's
 
my time is in the 37 range to...=)

I ran the race on super hard tires all around and pitted once...
